Yes. The 8BitDo Ultimate 3 works on Windows 10 and 11 through its 2.4G adapter or USB cable, and on Android and supported Apple devices over Bluetooth. Xbox consoles are different: the Xbox version uses wired USB only. Xbox Cloud Gaming should work on supported PCs and mobile devices because Xbox requires a compatible controller over Bluetooth or USB, but Xbox does not explicitly certify this exact controller model for cloud play, so that conclusion is based on the published connection requirements.
Compatibility at a glance
The controller has three practical connection paths, and the correct one depends on the device. Its Xbox licensing does not mean every Xbox connection is wireless. Use this matrix before setting it up:

| Platform or use | Connection | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One | Wired USB | 8BitDo assigns wired mode to Xbox consoles. The 2.4G adapter is not the wireless Xbox-console route. |
| Windows 10 and 11 PCs | 2.4G adapter or wired USB | Plug in the included adapter for wireless PC play, or connect the supplied USB cable. |
| Android phones and tablets | Bluetooth | Switch to mobile/Bluetooth mode and pair with the controller name shown in the instructions. |
| Apple iPhone and iPad | Bluetooth | The current product specification lists Apple Bluetooth support for iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 or later. |
| Xbox Cloud Gaming | Bluetooth or USB | Cloud play accepts a compatible controller through either connection. The Ultimate 3 meets that connection condition on supported Windows and mobile devices, but the exact model is not explicitly named by Xbox. |
How the Ultimate 3 connects on each platform
Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One: USB cable only
Connect the controller to the console with the USB cable. Although this is an Xbox-licensed model, 8BitDo’s platform guidance assigns Xbox-console use to wired USB. Do not expect the included 2.4G receiver to provide wireless play on an Xbox console; that receiver is intended for Windows PC operation.

This arrangement is useful when you want a long cable, a spare controller, or a controller with 8BitDo’s layout and features, but it is not suitable if wireless play on the console is your primary requirement.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Windows 10 and 11: wireless through 2.4G or wired USB
Windows is the most flexible target. Insert the included 2.4G adapter into a USB port, select the controller’s PC/2.4G mode, and use it wirelessly. If the adapter is unavailable, occupied, or not recognized, the USB cable provides the second supported Windows path.
The published Windows requirement is Windows 10 or newer. The adapter and cable are both included in the package, so no separate wireless receiver is required for a standard PC setup.

Android: Bluetooth pairing
Android phones and tablets use Bluetooth rather than the 2.4G receiver. Put the controller into mobile/Bluetooth mode, hold the pairing button for three seconds, then open the phone’s Bluetooth settings and select 8BitDo Ultimate 3mode Xbox. Pairing is normally completed from the Android system menu; the PC receiver is not part of this process.

An older or differently worded FAQ snippet says Android is the only platform supporting Bluetooth, which conflicts with the current product specification that lists both Apple and Android. For this model, the current Apple OS list is the controlling guidance. If an Apple device still refuses to pair, update the controller firmware and verify the device version before assuming the hardware is incompatible.
Does it work with Xbox Cloud Gaming?
Xbox Cloud Gaming requires three things relevant to the controller: a supported device, a compatible controller connected through Bluetooth or USB, and a sufficiently fast internet connection. On Windows, the Ultimate 3 can provide USB or 2.4G input, although Xbox’s cloud requirement specifically names Bluetooth or USB. On a PC, use the USB cable for the clearest match to that wording; the controller’s 2.4G mode may also function as a normal game-controller input, but Xbox’s published requirement does not specifically certify this model or its receiver.

On Android and supported Apple devices, the controller connects by Bluetooth, which directly matches Xbox’s stated controller requirement. Therefore, cloud play on a compatible phone, tablet, or browser-based PC is a reasoned compatibility inference from the two manufacturers’ requirements, not an explicit Xbox certification of the Ultimate 3.
Cloud-gaming account and browser conditions
Connection alone does not grant access to cloud games. You need an eligible Xbox account and subscription, or a supported free-to-play title where Xbox makes cloud access available. Availability of games, plans, devices, and regions changes over time.

On a Windows PC, cloud play runs in a supported browser such as Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome. On Apple devices, Safari is among the supported browser options. Sign in to the eligible Xbox service, connect the controller before launching a game, and check that the browser recognizes the controller when the game starts.
Internet requirements
Xbox’s current guidance gives 10 Mbps downstream as a minimum for cloud play, recommends 5 GHz Wi-Fi, and notes that some devices may need 20 Mbps for the best quality. These figures describe the internet connection, not the controller. A perfectly paired controller cannot prevent image quality problems caused by congestion, weak Wi-Fi, or high latency.

Windows wireless setup with the 2.4G adapter
- Insert the included 2.4G adapter directly into the Windows PC.
- Set the controller to PC/2.4G mode using its mode control.
- Turn on the controller and wait for Windows to detect the receiver.
- Open a game or controller-test screen and verify that the sticks, triggers, and buttons respond.
- For cloud play, open a supported browser, sign in to the eligible Xbox service, and start a title only after the controller is recognized.
Windows wired setup
- Connect the supplied USB cable to the controller and a USB port on the PC.
- Select the controller input in the game or browser if more than one device is listed.
- Use this mode when the 2.4G receiver is unavailable, when troubleshooting wireless input, or when you want the connection that most plainly satisfies Xbox’s USB requirement.
Android Bluetooth setup
- Switch the controller to mobile/Bluetooth mode.
- Hold the pairing button for three seconds until the controller enters pairing mode.
- On the Android device, open Settings, then Bluetooth or Connected devices, and scan for accessories.
- Select 8BitDo Ultimate 3mode Xbox.
- Launch the game or cloud-gaming browser after the phone reports that pairing is complete.
iPhone or iPad Bluetooth setup
- Check that the device runs iOS 18.2 or iPadOS 18.2 or a newer supported release.
- Switch the controller to mobile/Bluetooth mode and hold the pairing button for three seconds.
- Open Settings, then Bluetooth, and choose the controller when it appears.
- Test the buttons in the game or cloud-gaming session. If the device does not list the controller, update firmware and repeat the pairing process.
Xbox-console setup
- Connect the controller directly to the Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One with the USB cable.
- Wait for the console to register the wired controller.
- Play with the cable attached; do not switch to the 2.4G adapter expecting Xbox-console wireless support.
Troubleshooting by symptom
Windows does not respond to the 2.4G adapter
- Reseat the receiver in another USB port and make sure the controller is in PC/2.4G mode rather than mobile mode.
- Disconnect other wireless receivers temporarily to rule out a crowded USB setup.
- Connect the controller by USB. If wired input works, the problem is limited to the receiver, mode selection, or wireless pairing rather than the game itself.
The phone cannot find the controller
- Confirm that mobile/Bluetooth mode is selected.
- Hold the pairing button for the full three seconds and scan again.
- Remove an old saved entry for the controller from Bluetooth settings, then pair it again.
- On Apple hardware, verify the iOS or iPadOS version against the current 18.2-or-later requirement and check for a controller firmware update.
Cloud Gaming launches but shows no controller input
- Pair or plug in the controller before opening the cloud-gaming session.
- On a PC, try USB if the 2.4G connection is not being exposed to the browser or game.
- Confirm that the browser is a supported Edge, Chrome, or Safari release and that the game has focus.
- Test the controller in another game or system controller panel to separate a browser problem from a hardware connection problem.
The picture is blurry or the game feels delayed
- Measure downstream speed against Xbox’s 10 Mbps minimum; some devices may need 20 Mbps for better quality.
- Move to 5 GHz Wi-Fi when available and reduce competing traffic on the network.
- Remember that network latency and congestion affect cloud video and response time independently of whether the controller is wired or wireless.
Battery, charging and included accessories
The package includes a charging dock, a 2.4G adapter, and a USB cable. 8BitDo rates the controller’s 1000mAh battery for about 20 hours of use after approximately four hours of charging. That is a manufacturer rating, so actual runtime varies with usage and connection conditions. The dock is convenient for storage and charging, while the cable remains necessary for Xbox-console play.
Who should choose this connection design?
The Ultimate 3 is a good fit if you use several device types and can accept different connection methods: 2.4G wireless on a Windows PC, Bluetooth on mobile devices, and USB on Xbox consoles. It is also practical for cloud gaming because Windows and mobile modes provide the connection types Xbox requires in principle.
It is a poor fit if your non-negotiable requirement is wireless play directly on an Xbox console. The product’s Xbox branding does not change the wired-only console limitation. Likewise, mobile buyers should check their operating-system version first, especially on Apple devices, and cloud players should verify current Xbox regional, account, subscription, and game availability before buying.
