They do not list a notification sent to a playlist owner when someone listens. That is different from Spotify’s Listening Activity feature, which can show a song you are playing to permitted friends or followers if activity sharing is enabled.
Can a playlist owner see that you listened?
Spotify’s notification settings describe email and push alerts, including security and music-related updates, but do not list an alert to a playlist owner when another person plays their playlist. The conclusion is based on the notification categories Spotify publishes; its help pages do not make an explicit, universal promise that playlist owners are never notified.

The pages also do not establish that an owner can identify everyone who listens to a public playlist. Do not confuse that question with social listening visibility or access to a private playlist.
What Spotify’s Listening Activity can reveal
Listening Activity is a separate social feature. Spotify says it lets friends see what music someone is listening to. When activity sharing is enabled, people allowed to view it may see the account holder’s currently playing or last played song. The account holder can manage who sees activity and turn sharing off for followers or selected friends. The setting applies across devices. Spotify’s Listening Activity help page explains the feature.

Spotify’s privacy and social controls page says Listening Activity is on by default for users 18 and older and off by default for users under 18. Defaults and labels may vary with age, region, or app version, so check the current setting in your account rather than assuming a default applies to you.
How to hide your listening activity
Turn off Listening Activity sharing
In Spotify’s current account controls, open Settings and privacy, then Privacy and social, and switch off Listening Activity. The precise labels or layout can vary by app version. Spotify says this control determines whether followers can see your activity in their Friend Activity feed.

Use a Private Session
A Private Session hides listening from Friends Activity, stops recently played artists from updating on your profile, and prevents that session’s listening from being used to personalize recommendations while active. Spotify says it ends after six hours or when the app restarts, and the setting applies across devices. See Spotify’s Private Session help page.

Does sharing a private playlist reveal that you listened?
Playlist access and listening activity are separate. Spotify says a person who has access to a shared private playlist may have their profile image displayed at the top of that playlist beside the owner’s. That indicates access; Spotify’s help page does not say it is a playback alert or that the owner is notified when the recipient listens.

Spotify says newly created playlists are public by default. Making a playlist private blocks access even for people who have its link or search for it by name. An owner can share a private playlist with selected people, and the shared link expires after seven days. These are access controls, not controls for Listening Activity. Details are in Spotify’s playlist privacy help.
