To book a flight in Chrome Incognito, open an Incognito window, search and book as usual, then close every Incognito window when you finish. Incognito limits what Chrome saves on your device after the session; it does not hide you from airlines or booking sites, and it does not reliably lower fares.
How to book a flight in Chrome Incognito
- Open Chrome and create a new Incognito window. On a computer, use the three-dot menu and choose New Incognito window; on a phone, open Chrome’s tab switcher and choose Incognito.
- Search for your route and travel dates, then choose the itinerary you want. Cookies and site data work temporarily during the session, allowing travel sites to function.
- Before paying, check the itinerary and the final total on the airline or travel agent’s checkout page. Confirm the dates, airports, baggage, fees, and fare conditions; displayed prices can change.
- When you are done, close every Incognito window. Chrome says that once all Incognito windows are closed, it does not retain the session’s site data or a record of the sites visited on the device. See Google Chrome Help’s explanation of Incognito mode.
Does Incognito mode lower flight prices?
There is no reliable basis for treating Incognito as a fare-discount trick. Skyscanner says its prices are the same in regular and Incognito browsing and that Incognito does not guarantee lower prices. That is Skyscanner’s guidance, not proof of how every airline or booking provider sets or displays fares. Its guidance is available in Do cookies increase flight prices?.

A fare can still change between searches. Skyscanner identifies seat availability and market conditions as reasons prices move; search results draw on prices from airlines or travel agents at the time of the search. A different fare display is not, by itself, evidence that a site raised the price because of your browsing history. See Do flight prices go up the more you search?.

What Incognito does—and does not—keep private
Incognito is a separate browsing session, not anonymity. Chrome temporarily stores cookies and site data so websites can work, then clears that session data from the device after all Incognito windows close. But sites may still gather information about you, including when you are not signed in. Google Chrome Help puts it plainly: “While Incognito can help keep your browsing private on your device, it doesn’t make you invisible.”

Private browsing in other browsers has similar limits. Mozilla says Firefox Private Browsing does not prevent visited websites from seeing your physical location or your internet provider from logging activity. Its explanation is at Firefox private browsing mode.
How to compare fares more usefully
Compare the same route, dates, and itinerary, then check the total price and fare conditions with the airline or booking provider before purchase. If you want to monitor a fare, Skyscanner recommends setting a price alert to receive notice of changes. Incognito status is not a meaningful comparison axis: the itinerary, total cost, and terms are what matter.
