No official source reviewed confirms that GTA 6 requires PS5 system software 14.10. An October 2026 third-party report attributes version 14.10.00.00 to PlayStation backend tracking, but Rockstar and PlayStation have not confirmed a minimum firmware version. Treat the figure as unverified, not as an update you need to install.
What is confirmed about GTA 6 and PS5 firmware?
Rockstar lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but its platform information does not name a minimum PS5 system software version. Rockstar last updated that page on August 18, 2026. Rockstar’s platform, editions, and versions information identifies the supported platforms without establishing a firmware threshold.

The reviewed US PlayStation Store listing for Grand Theft Auto VI identifies a PS5 version and release information, but does not state a minimum system software version. That omission means the page does not establish a requirement; it does not prove that no requirement will apply.
PlayStation describes PS5 features for the game, including DualSense controller feedback, in its June 24, 2026 PlayStation Blog post. That post does not specify a minimum firmware version either.

Where did the 14.10 claim come from?
An October 2026 report from iTechGuides says version 14.10.00.00 is reportedly associated with the PS5 game listing and attributes the figure to PlayStation backend tracking. The report also says Sony and Rockstar have not officially confirmed it. This makes 14.10.00.00 a reported version identifier—not an established GTA 6 requirement. Read the iTechGuides report.
| Source | What it establishes | Minimum firmware confirmed? |
|---|---|---|
| Rockstar platform information | GTA 6 is listed for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. | No; no minimum version is stated. |
| PlayStation Store listing | The reviewed US listing identifies the PS5 game and release information. | No; no minimum version is stated. |
| iTechGuides report, October 2026 | Reports 14.10.00.00 as associated with PlayStation backend tracking. | No; the report says the figure is not officially confirmed. |
The available information also does not explain why 14.10 might be needed if the report is accurate, or whether a later version will be required by the time the game launches. It is not evidence of an anti-jailbreak purpose or any particular technical dependency.

How to check for a PS5 system software update
If you want to check your console’s current update availability, use Sony’s normal update path. This is general system-software guidance, not confirmation that GTA 6 needs version 14.10. Sony’s PS5 system software update guidance gives these steps:
- On the PS5 home screen, open Settings.
- Select System, then System Software.
- Open System Software Update and select Update System Software.
For a final compatibility answer, check current Rockstar or PlayStation information as the release approaches. Do not install a specific numbered version solely because of the unconfirmed report.
