Does Deadlock support controllers?
Yes, controller use is possible through Steam Input configuration. Valve’s November 7, 2024 update notes mention a Controller tab, a button to launch the Steam Input Configurator, glyph-locking options, and updated official Steam Input configurations for Steam Deck and DualSense. The notes also mention that some users may need to rebind joysticks or gyros after changes to legacy analog modes.
That establishes configuration support in the build covered by those notes, not flawless operation on every device or proof that controller play matches keyboard and mouse in completeness or performance. A Valve developer account explained in an official Deadlock forum discussion that Steam Input lets the game handle a wider range of controllers than developers would otherwise need to support individually. This is a general explanation of Steam Input, not a compatibility guarantee for every controller.
What to expect when setting one up
- Check whether Steam Input recognizes your specific controller.
- Make sure you can bind movement, combat, menus, and utility actions you rely on.
- Expect that prompts or interactions may not always feel as seamless as keyboard and mouse.
- After updates, check your bindings; Valve’s notes specifically mention possible joystick or gyro rebinding.
A player report dated February 26, 2026 on the official forum describes intermittent detection at startup and difficulty with some actions, including the ping wheel, quick buying, scoreboard cursor control, and buying upgrades while dead. It is one player’s report, not a controlled test or evidence that all controller users encounter those problems.

A Steam Community guide, last updated December 6, 2024, also describes controller play and gyro configurations. It can offer setup ideas, but it is community-authored and dated, so it should not be treated as a current official compatibility list.
Can you play Deadlock solo?
Valve’s Steam Support listing presents Deadlock as a multiplayer action game and does not list a single-player feature. That listing does not establish whether the current in-game build includes limited bot matches, a sandbox, or other practice options. If by “solo” you mean playing without other human players, check the current in-game mode selection rather than assuming bot matches are available.

Does Deadlock support crossplay?
Crossplay is not confirmed by the sources available here. The Steam listing identifies the game as multiplayer but does not advertise play across different platforms or storefronts. That is not enough to conclude crossplay is unavailable. Crossplay means players on different platforms or storefronts can join the same matches; ordinary online multiplayer does not, by itself, confirm that feature.
