Sometimes—but AT&T does not provide Wi-Fi extenders free to every customer. Its Extended Wi-Fi Coverage service is advertised at $10 per month, while AT&T says it is included with its fastest fiber plans. The public offer does not identify which plans qualify, so check your account or bill before assuming there is no charge. AT&T’s current offer
What “free” means with AT&T
AT&T’s advertised $10-per-month price is for Extended Wi-Fi Coverage, a service that includes equipment. Some of AT&T’s fastest fiber plans include the service, but the offer page does not name the qualifying tiers or establish a personalized price. Confirm your plan’s terms rather than assuming that every Fiber customer receives it at no charge. The displayed price is subject to change. AT&T Extended Wi-Fi Coverage

Included equipment is not necessarily yours to keep. AT&T says the AirTies 4971 and All-Fi Booster, along with their power supplies, must be returned if you cancel the associated internet service. Older AirTies 4920 and 4921 units were available for purchase and do not have to be returned. AT&T equipment details

Which extender or booster goes with your service?
AT&T uses different equipment for its internet products: Wi-Fi Extenders pair with AT&T Wi-Fi gateways for Internet or Fiber service, while an All-Fi Booster pairs with the All-Fi Hub used for Internet Air. AT&T says adding Extended Wi-Fi Service to an internet plan includes an AirTies 4971; adding it to Internet Air includes an All-Fi Booster. AT&T’s Extended Wi-Fi FAQ AT&T equipment details

Check the gateway model before buying
AT&T lists these model combinations in its setup instructions:
- AirTies 4971EM: BGW320, BGW830, BGW530, or CGW450 All-Fi Hub.
- AirTies 4971: Pace 5268AC, BGW210, or BGW320 All-Fi Hub.
- AirTies 4991: BGW620 All-Fi Hub.
AT&T also names the 4971, 4971EM, 4981, and 4991 as its AirTies models for taking full advantage of its gateway mesh network. These lists do not establish that any retail extender will work with your setup. AT&T cautions that non-AT&T AirTies may not support all Smart Home Network and Smart Home Manager features. How to find out whether you need one

- Dual Band WiFi Extender: Up to 44% more bandwidth than single band N300 WiFi extenders. Boost Internet WiFi coverage up to 1200 square feet and connects up to 30 devices(2.4GHz: 300Mbps; 5GHz: 433Mbps)
When a wired connection can help
Ethernet backhaul means connecting the gateway or All-Fi Hub directly to an extender or booster with Ethernet cable. AT&T says supported devices can use Cat 5E or later cable; if the units were not previously paired, setup and pairing occur automatically. Its instructions warn that the feature will not work with third-party routers unless they are in bridge or passthrough mode; static IP setups have additional addressing conditions. AT&T’s Extended Wi-Fi FAQ
AT&T says it supplies Cat 6 Ethernet cables with its internet equipment and recommends Category 6 or better for a replacement. A separate cable purchase is therefore only relevant if you need a replacement or a suitable cable for a wired connection. AT&T equipment details
