Yes—several current alternatives meet all three requirements, but they do so differently. Google’s Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL combine eSIM, Qi wireless charging and seven years of updates. Samsung’s Galaxy S25 family supports physical-SIM/eSIM and dual-eSIM configurations, with seven generations of Android OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. Wireless-charging rates and regional specifications still need checking on the exact S25 model. OnePlus support is model-specific, so its advertised minimum should never be treated as a guarantee for every phone in the range.
The important distinction is between a feature being present and the ownership experience it provides. eSIM activation depends on your carrier and country; wireless charging speed depends on the phone, charging pad and case; and a long support promise has a defined start date and may be subject to market or carrier timing. The sections below separate those details so you can choose a replacement without losing a capability you rely on.

| OnePlus phones | Varies by model, market and carrier | Varies by model and region | OnePlus UK lists a minimum of three years of security updates, with product-specific end dates | Buy only after checking the exact model’s support listing and hardware specification |
Google’s Pixel hardware specifications provide the Pixel figures. Samsung’s comparison and launch materials provide the S25 SIM and update commitments. OnePlus publishes product-by-product security end dates on its UK product-security page. Those sources describe different measurements, so the numbers are not directly interchangeable: Pixel’s seven years are measured from US Google Store availability, while Samsung’s seven years begin at global launch.

Which alternatives meet all three priorities?
Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL
The Pixel 9 family is the most completely documented match for eSIM, wireless charging and long support in the available specifications. Google lists eSIM for all three models. Each also supports Qi wireless charging, although the maximum rate depends on the model and the accessory used:

- Pixel 9 Pro XL: up to 23W with Pixel Stand (2nd generation).
- With a Qi-certified Extended Power Profile (EPP) charger, Google lists up to 12W.
Google says all three will receive updates for seven years from the date each device first became available on the Google Store in the United States. That wording matters: the clock is tied to availability, not the date you personally activate a phone or the date a retailer discounts it. A later purchase therefore does not create a fresh seven-year period.
Galaxy S25 family
Samsung lists Nano-SIM (4FF) and eSIM support for the Galaxy S25 family. Its listed combinations are SIM 1 plus eSIM or Dual eSIM, giving travelers and people who maintain separate work and personal lines more flexibility than a single physical-SIM design.
Samsung’s January 2025 launch announcement promises seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from the global launch date. Samsung also cautions that delivery timing can vary by device model, network provider and market. The commitment is therefore long, but an update may not arrive everywhere on the same day.
The S25 materials used here do not establish one universal wireless-charging wattage for every regional model. Before buying, open the product page for the exact model number and country, confirm that Qi charging is listed, and check whether the quoted maximum requires a particular Samsung accessory. Treat a retailer’s generic “wireless charging” label as a prompt to verify, not as a complete specification.
OnePlus models
OnePlus cannot be assessed as one uniform category. The company’s UK product-security page says smartphones and tablets receive security updates for a minimum of three years, then lists an end date for each product. The same page lists OnePlus 15 security support through 31 December 2031, but that date applies to that product and should not be projected onto older or less expensive models.
For any OnePlus phone—or for an alternative not covered by a clear family-wide policy—check four items on the exact model:
- Whether eSIM is enabled in your country and on your carrier’s version.
- Whether wireless charging hardware is present, and its maximum rate with ordinary Qi pads.
- How many Android-version upgrades are promised.
- The published security-update end date.
How eSIM support works in practice
Hardware support is only the first check
An eSIM is a programmable SIM embedded in the phone. A compatible handset can store a carrier profile without a removable card, but activation still depends on the carrier, country and plan. A Pixel or Galaxy that contains eSIM hardware may still be unable to activate a particular operator’s service if that operator does not support the phone, the plan or the activation method.
Before switching phones, ask the carrier whether it supports eSIM on your exact model and whether it allows a transfer from your current device. Confirm whether the carrier uses a QR code, an in-app flow, a downloadable profile or an account-level reissue. Some providers require identity verification or will deactivate the old SIM as soon as the new profile is issued.

SIM combinations to expect
| Configuration | What it allows | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Physical Nano-SIM + eSIM | One removable line and one downloaded line, useful for travel or a second number | Whether both lines can remain active simultaneously and which line handles data |
| Dual eSIM | Two downloaded carrier profiles without a physical card | Whether your regional firmware and carrier permit two active eSIMs |
| Single eSIM | One downloaded line instead of a card | Whether a physical-SIM slot is also present on your market model |
Samsung explicitly lists both SIM 1 plus eSIM and Dual eSIM options for the S25 family. Google’s Pixel 9 specifications list eSIM, but the available specification does not promise every combination for every country. Read the regional specification rather than relying on a US review when buying elsewhere.
Moving an existing line
Google says its upgraded iPhone-to-Android transfer process supports eSIM transfer and launches first on Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices, with more partners planned. That is a transfer pathway, not a guarantee that every carrier will participate. Keep your old phone powered on and connected until calls, texts and mobile data work on the new phone; do not erase it before the carrier confirms activation.
- Back up the old phone and record the carrier account credentials or transfer PIN.
- Connect the new Pixel or Galaxy to Wi-Fi during setup.
- Choose the carrier’s eSIM transfer option if it appears, or scan the carrier’s QR code/use its app.
- Follow any identity or two-factor verification prompts.
- Place a test call, send a text and check mobile data with Wi-Fi turned off.
- Only after those tests succeed, remove the old eSIM profile or reset the old phone.
Wireless charging: speed, standards and accessories
Why the wattage on the box may not be your real speed
Wireless charging is a negotiated power connection. The phone, pad, power adapter and software must all support the same charging mode. Google’s Pixel figures illustrate the difference: the Pixel 9 Pro XL can reach up to 23W on Pixel Stand (2nd generation), but Google lists up to 12W on Qi-certified EPP chargers. A generic pad can therefore charge a Pixel, yet never reach the headline rate.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Those figures are maximums under compatible conditions, not a constant rate from zero to 100 percent. Charging usually slows as the battery fills and can reduce power when the phone is warm. A thick, magnetic, metal or poorly aligned case can further lower the rate or stop charging altogether. If speed matters, use the specified stand or pad, its recommended power adapter and a case identified as compatible.
Qi, Qi2 and proprietary accessories
Qi is the common wireless-charging standard. Qi2 adds magnetic alignment in compatible products, but a phone or case must explicitly support Qi2 to obtain its alignment and power benefits. A Qi2-branded pad is not automatically a faster charger for every Qi phone.
Pixel’s documented top rates require Google’s Pixel Stand (2nd generation), while ordinary Qi EPP charging is listed at a lower ceiling. For the Galaxy S25 family, verify the exact regional charging specification and accessory requirements before purchasing a pad. If a product page does not state a wattage, assume only that charging is supported—not that it matches another phone’s maximum.
Reverse wireless charging
Reverse charging is separate from charging the phone itself. It allows the handset to share power with earbuds or another Qi device. The specifications supplied for this comparison do not establish reverse-charging support or output for every Pixel 9 or Galaxy S25 model, so treat it as an additional feature to verify rather than part of the three confirmed criteria.

Pixel’s seven-year window
Google’s wording is precise: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL receive updates for seven years from when each device first became available on the Google Store in the US. “Updates” is the broad term used in that statement; it does not mean every feature arrives simultaneously in every country. The practical advantage is a clearly defined support horizon that can extend well beyond a typical two-year contract.

Samsung’s seven generations plus seven years
Samsung separates the promise into seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates, counted from the global launch date of the Galaxy S25 series. Seven OS generations describes major Android-version upgrades; the seven-year security period covers security maintenance even after those major upgrades are complete. Samsung notes that timing can vary by model, network provider and market, so unlocked and carrier variants may not receive a release on the same day.
Why OnePlus end dates must be checked model by model
OnePlus publishes a minimum three-year security-update policy for smartphones and tablets on its UK page, alongside individual end dates. A minimum is not the same as a universal period for every model, and security support is not the same metric as Android-version upgrades. Compare the exact product’s launch date, promised Android versions and security end date before deciding that it offers equivalent longevity to Pixel or Galaxy.
A purchase checklist for replacing a OnePlus phone
- Choose the market first. Write down the country where the phone will be activated, not merely where it is being ordered.
- Confirm SIM capability. Check the manufacturer’s regional specification for eSIM, physical-SIM slots and dual-eSIM behavior.
- Call the carrier. Ask whether your plan supports that model, whether eSIM transfer is available and whether a fee or new QR code applies.
- Match the charging setup. Confirm Qi or Qi2 support, maximum wattage, required stand or pad, adapter requirements and case clearance.
- Record the support dates. Note the update start point—US Google Store availability for Pixel or global launch for S25—and the stated end date.
- Check your priorities beyond the headline features. Compare wired charging speed, camera processing, screen size, storage, repair options and the accessories you already own.
- Keep evidence. Save the regional specification and support-page links or PDFs with your purchase records in case a carrier or retailer lists a different configuration.
Common problems and fixes
The eSIM transfer option does not appear
Update both phones, connect them to Wi-Fi and confirm that the carrier supports transfer for your plan. If the option remains absent, request a fresh QR code or carrier-app activation. Do not delete the old profile until the new line passes call, text and data tests.
The phone charges slowly or stops charging
Remove a thick or metal case, center the phone on the coil, use the specified stand or a Qi-certified EPP pad, and check that the power adapter can supply the pad’s input requirement. Heat, vibration from a misaligned coil and foreign objects between the phone and pad can all interrupt charging.
An update is late
Check the model number and carrier variant, then compare the manufacturer’s release notice with your market. Samsung expressly warns that timing varies by model, provider and market. A delayed rollout is different from the end of the promised support period; record the published end date before escalating.
A retailer’s specification conflicts with the manufacturer
Prefer the manufacturer’s page for the exact regional model. Retail listings often combine specifications from several markets, especially for SIM slots and charging accessories. If the manufacturer does not state a value, treat it as not established rather than inferring it from another region.
Which phone should you choose?
Choose Pixel when update certainty comes first
Pixel 9 models offer the clearest single answer for buyers who want all three priorities documented together: eSIM, Qi charging and seven years of updates. Select the Pixel 9 for the lowest documented Pixel Stand rate, the Pro for its middle-size premium configuration, or the Pro XL for the largest model and the 23W Pixel Stand ceiling. Accept that the fastest wireless figures require Google’s stand and that carrier support remains a separate question.
Choose Galaxy S25 when SIM flexibility and a broad ecosystem matter
The S25 family is compelling if you want Nano-SIM plus eSIM or dual-eSIM options and Samsung’s seven-generation/seven-year policy. Verify the regional wireless-charging specification, then choose among models based on size, camera and price rather than assuming every market variant has identical charging behavior.

Stay with OnePlus only after documenting the exact model
OnePlus may still be the right choice for a buyer who values its wired charging, interface or hardware. Make the decision from the exact model’s eSIM availability, wireless-charging hardware and security end date. The company’s minimum three-year security statement and one model’s 2031 date cannot substitute for that model-level check.
Bottom line
For the least ambiguity, the Pixel 9 family is the strongest documented alternative: eSIM, Qi wireless charging and seven years of updates from US Google Store availability. Galaxy S25 models offer equally ambitious update longevity and unusually flexible eSIM arrangements, but confirm the charging specification for your market. Whichever phone you choose, verify the carrier, accessory and support details for the exact regional model before transferring your number or discarding your old device.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does eSIM work internationally on Pixel 9 or Galaxy S25?
Only when the destination carrier and plan support that phone’s eSIM profile and activation method. Check the carrier in each country before travel; hardware support alone is not a roaming guarantee.
Recommended Free Tools
Do seven years of updates mean seven major Android upgrades?
Not necessarily. Samsung explicitly promises seven OS-upgrade generations plus seven years of security updates. Google’s Pixel statement promises updates for seven years but does not in the cited wording break that period into a fixed number of Android-version generations.
Can I use any wireless charger with a Pixel 9?
A compatible Qi charger can charge it, but Google’s listed maximum with Qi-certified EPP chargers is up to 12W. The higher 15W, 21W and 23W figures require Pixel Stand (2nd generation) and the matching model.
Where can I find a OnePlus phone’s security end date?
Use OnePlus’s UK product-security page and look up the exact model. Do not infer the date from another OnePlus device.
Should I keep my old phone after activating an eSIM?
Yes, until the new phone completes a call, text and mobile-data test. Some carrier transfers deactivate the old profile immediately, and keeping the old device available helps recover account access if activation fails.
