1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFor most buyers who can get either camera, the Insta360 X6 is the better all-round choice: TechRadar’s hands-on comparison found cleaner, sharper daytime footage, a slight low-light advantage, longer rated 8K/30fps recording, and a deeper bare-camera water rating. Choose the DJI Osmo 360 II instead if 8K/60fps, more built-in storage, DJI microphone integration, or its reported European launch pricing better fits your needs. Availability is a deciding factor: DroneXL reported on September 7, 2026, that DJI had not announced a US price or release date for the Osmo 360 II.
How the cameras differ at a glance
| Feature | DJI Osmo 360 II | Insta360 X6 |

| Maximum 360 video mode | 8K/60fps, per DJI’s September 3, 2026 announcement (DJI) | 8K/50fps, as reported by TechRadar (TechRadar) |
| Rated 8K/30fps recording time | Up to 100 minutes, per DJI (DJI) | 140 minutes, reported by TechRadar as Insta360’s rating; TechRadar says its test broadly matched the rating (TechRadar) |
| Built-in storage | 105 GB, per DJI (DJI) | Conflicting independent reports: 47 GB in TechRadar and 64 GB in DroneXL; a settled figure is not established by these sources (TechRadar) (DroneXL) |
| Bare-camera depth rating | 10 m, as reported by TechRadar (TechRadar) | 20 m, as reported by TechRadar (TechRadar) |
| Weight | 183 g, per DJI (DJI) | not stated in the cited sources |
| Lens replacement | User-replaceable lenses, according to DJI and TechRadar (DJI) (TechRadar) | User-replaceable lenses, according to TechRadar (TechRadar) |
Manufacturer ratings and a reviewer’s observations are different kinds of evidence. DJI’s dynamic-range figure, for example, is a company claim rather than a third-party lab result; TechRadar’s image and heat findings apply to its own test scenes and conditions.

Which camera has better image quality?
Daylight footage
In TechRadar’s matched hands-on comparison, the X6 produced cleaner, sharper, and less distorted footage overall. The Osmo 360 II retained more detail in bright skies in the scenes tested, where highlights around the sun were lost in the X6 footage. That result is useful if bright-sky detail matters, but it does not mean the DJI camera wins every high-contrast scene.
Night scenes and moving subjects
TechRadar judged the cameras closer at night, with a slight overall low-light edge for the X6. The mode choice matters: X6 PureVideo tops out at 30fps, while DJI says Osmo 360 II’s AI SuperNight 2.0 can record up to 60fps. The higher frame rate can be relevant when you need smoother motion in dim conditions, even though the review favored the X6’s overall low-light footage.

Resolution and capture modes
The Osmo’s headline advantage is 8K/60fps, compared with the X6’s reported maximum of 8K/50fps. Don’t choose on that difference alone: consider whether you need the higher frame rate, how you will reframe or export the footage, and whether single-lens modes or stabilization matter to your shooting. The X6 also supports native in-camera Dolby Vision, according to Insta360’s product search result; that claim is not a matched image-quality comparison.
DJI describes the Osmo 360 II as having a 1-inch square HDR sensor and 14.5 stops of dynamic range. Those are manufacturer specifications and claims, not independent measurements establishing that it outperforms the X6.

Which lasts longer, and how much footage can each hold?
Rated battery life and overheating
At 8K/30fps, DJI rates the Osmo 360 II for up to 100 minutes, while TechRadar reports the X6’s manufacturer rating as 140 minutes and says its own test broadly matched it. Actual recording time can vary with operating conditions, so neither number guarantees uninterrupted runtime in your setup.
In a separate TechRadar side-by-side overheating test at 22°C, with each camera recording at its maximum 8K frame rate, the Osmo shut down after around 34 minutes and the X6 after around 40 minutes. These are results from one review test, not a promise of operating time in other temperatures or recording modes.

Internal storage and memory cards
DJI specifies 105 GB of built-in storage for the Osmo 360 II. Published X6 figures conflict: TechRadar reports 47 GB, while DroneXL reports 64 GB. The cited coverage does not settle the discrepancy, so confirm the X6 figure against Insta360’s current specification before relying on it for a purchase or shoot plan.
Both cameras accept microSD expansion, according to the comparison reporting. Check the current manufacturer card requirements for the specific camera and recording mode rather than assuming any card will sustain maximum-resolution capture.

Which is safer for water and easier to repair?
TechRadar reports bare-camera depth ratings of 20 m for the X6 and 10 m for the Osmo 360 II. With the respective camera-specific dive cases, the reported limits are 60 m for the X6 and 50 m for the Osmo. Confirm the exact housing, its availability, and the manufacturers’ instructions for your intended depth before taking either camera underwater.

How do editing and audio workflows compare?
Editing software
Both systems offer mobile and desktop companion software. At the time of TechRadar’s comparison, Insta360 Studio supported ProRes export and DJI Studio did not. The reviewer liked DJI Studio’s tracking and slow-motion features but was less impressed with Mimo’s mobile auto-editing; the reviewer also encountered instability with Insta360’s app on an older iPhone. Software features and reliability can change by version and device, so check the current apps against your editing setup.
Microphones and audio
DJI says the Osmo 360 II has a four-microphone array and supports direct connection to several DJI Mic products. TechRadar reports 24-bit audio support across both companies’ camera and microphone ecosystems. Verify compatibility for the exact mic model you plan to use; ecosystem-level support does not guarantee that every camera and microphone combination works the same way.
What do they cost, and can you buy them where you live?

In the same September 7 update, DroneXL said DJI had not announced a US price or release date for the Osmo 360 II. That is a dated availability report, not a statement about its status today. Check DJI’s regional product page and authorized local sellers before deciding based on a US purchase.
Which camera should you buy?
Choose the Insta360 X6 if…
- You prioritize the image character TechRadar observed in its comparison: cleaner, sharper daylight footage and a slight overall low-light advantage.
- You want the longer rated 8K/30fps recording time or the deeper reported bare-camera depth rating.
- Your post-production workflow benefits from Insta360 Studio’s reported ProRes export support.
Choose the DJI Osmo 360 II if…
- You need 8K/60fps capture.
- You value DJI’s specified 105 GB of built-in storage or direct integration with compatible DJI microphones.
- You can buy it in your region and its reported launch pricing or DJI accessory setup suits your budget and workflow.
For long shoots, weigh rated battery life alongside storage, card support, and the review’s heat test rather than treating a battery figure as guaranteed continuous recording in a maximum-resolution mode. If water use is central, match the body rating and exact dive case to your planned depth before choosing.
