Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →A DJI controller can beep because it is starting up, has stayed disconnected from the aircraft, is linking, or is reporting a battery, signal, or other status issue. The sound alone does not identify the cause. Check your controller model, when the beeping starts, its LEDs, and any DJI Fly warning before taking off.
Start with the timing, model, and lights
Note whether the beep happens at power-on, while trying to connect, after the controller has sat disconnected, or during flight. Identify the exact controller model: DJI’s documented beep and LED meanings differ between screen-equipped RC models and RC-N or legacy controllers.

Check the battery-level LEDs and status LED, then read any warning in DJI Fly. If the aircraft is airborne and the signal is weak or lost, stop troubleshooting the controller and prioritize safe aircraft recovery using the configured signal-lost behavior.

What the beeping may mean
A “D-D-D” sound at startup
DJI’s startup-alarm troubleshooting page describes a “D-D-D” sound after the controller is powered on. Its first diagnostic question is whether just one battery-level LED is blinking regularly. If that is what you see, check the battery level and charge the controller using the instructions for its exact model. DJI’s publicly accessible text does not show the rest of this alarm’s decision tree, so that LED pattern is a reason to investigate—not a complete diagnosis.

Beeping after a long time disconnected
For DJI RC Pro 2, RC Pro, RC, and RC 2, DJI documents beeping when the aircraft has not connected for a long time. Press the controller’s Power button once to cancel that alarm. Before flying, confirm the aircraft is connected and check the controller’s status indication.
Beeping while linking
On RC-N3, RC-N1C, RC-N2, RC-N1, MR1SS5, and MR1SD25, DJI describes the LEDs lighting in sequence with a beep as the controller linking to the aircraft. The documented pattern is a linking status, not by itself proof that linking has succeeded. Follow the linking instructions for your controller and aircraft, and check DJI Fly for any firmware prompt.
A signal warning or beeping during flight
DJI lists antenna orientation, obstacles or wireless interference, and controller hardware error among possible causes of a controller signal error. Face the controller’s antenna plane toward the aircraft and consider obstacles and interference. If the app reports a firmware update before takeoff, follow its on-screen guidance. If signal errors persist, DJI advises having the controller inspected.

- Next-gen Processor - RC 2 features 6nm, 8-core processing with significantly improved CPU and GPU performance, delivering a smoother system and better overall in-app experience.
- Quick Launch - Compared with standard remote controllers, RC 2 eliminates the hassle of connecting to a smartphone for flight. Simply power on and launch the app.
- O4 Video Transmission - O4 is a significant upgrade, offering smooth, ultra-reliable feeds with enhanced anti-interference capability for video transmission within a 20km max range.
- 2T4R Antennas - RC 2 features four powerful antennas (two built-in antennas and two external), ensuring more stable video transmission.
- 5.5-inch FHD Screen - A 700-nit 5.5-inch FHD touchscreen display ensures pilots can see clearly, even in bright environments, and enjoy a more comprehensive control experience.
When the aircraft is in the air, treat a signal warning as a flight-safety issue, not a nuisance alarm. DJI recommends setting signal-lost behavior to Return to Home (RTH) and choosing an RTH altitude higher than nearby obstacles. Follow the aircraft’s configured procedure and the safety guidance for its model.

DJI RC Pro 2, RC Pro, RC, and RC 2 status LED
| LED pattern | DJI’s listed meaning |
|---|---|
| Solid red | Disconnected from the aircraft |
| Blinking blue | Linking |
| Solid green | Connected to the aircraft |
| Blinking yellow | Controller battery low |
| Blinking cyan | Control sticks are not centered |
| Blinking red | Controller temperature too high or aircraft battery low |
| Solid yellow | Firmware-update failure on DJI RC |
DJI does not list every status pattern identically across controller models. In particular, the solid-yellow firmware-update-failure indication is listed for DJI RC, so check the guide for your exact controller rather than applying one model’s pattern to another.
RC-N and listed legacy controllers
For RC-N3, RC-N1C, RC-N2, RC-N1, MR1SS5, and MR1SD25, the battery LEDs also serve as status LEDs. DJI lists slow blinking as disconnected, sequentially lighting LEDs with a beep as linking, and LEDs 2 and 3 blinking as a firmware update in progress.

Battery-level LEDs
DJI’s indicator guide gives the following battery ranges for the controllers covered on that page:

One illuminated LED indicates a low range, but it does not prove that every beep is a battery warning. Use the status light and app warning as well.

|---|---|---|---|
| RC-N3, RC-N1, RC-N2, RC-N1C | USB-C | 10 W | 3 hours 30 minutes |
| DJI RC, DJI RC 2 | USB-C | 15 W | 1 hour 30 minutes |
These specifications apply to the named models only. Use the correct model-specific charging instructions; charging will not resolve a disconnection, linking, firmware, signal, or hardware problem by itself.
When calibration or service makes sense
Calibrate only if the controls are abnormal
DJI’s calibration guidance is for abnormal controller behavior, not for a beep on its own. For supported controllers, the DJI Fly path is Settings > Control > RC > RC Calibration. Turn the aircraft off during calibration, and move the left dial through its full left-to-right stroke as directed. The cited DJI guidance directs Smart Controller users to Joystick Calibration in DJI GO 4; it notes that the option had not been adapted in DJI Fly.

Ask DJI to inspect persistent problems
Seek DJI support or inspection if signal errors continue, the controller appears damaged, the alarm persists after the relevant battery or connection issue is addressed, or the app indicates a fault you cannot resolve. Do not open the controller or attempt an unsupported repair.
