In the available phone tests, Dimensity 9500 scored higher than Google Tensor G5 in Geekbench 6 CPU tests and 3DMark Wild Life Extreme graphics. Tensor G5’s defining case is different: it is built into Pixel 10 phones and supports Google’s Pixel-specific AI and imaging features. These results compare particular finished phones, not the chips under identical conditions, so the right choice depends on the phone and the task.
What the comparison shows
Dimensity 9500 has the stronger results in the cited peak CPU and graphics benchmarks. Google positions Tensor G5 around Pixel integration, on-device AI, security and imaging, while also claiming improvements over the previous Tensor generation. A benchmark lead does not establish which phone will have better battery life, run cooler, or perform better in every app.

The chips also appear in different device ecosystems: Google announced Tensor G5 for Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL. The exact Dimensity 9500 phone and regional variant matter when comparing devices, so confirm the chipset in the specific model listing.

Platform support is not a guarantee that a phone will expose every listed capability. Cooling, camera hardware, memory configuration and manufacturer software are properties of the finished device, not just the chip.
Benchmark results: Dimensity 9500 leads in the cited tests
Android Central published the following results from its testing of retail phones in December 2025. Scores belong to the tested devices and workloads; the review was not a controlled experiment that held all phone variables constant.
| Test | Tested Dimensity 9500 phone | Tested Tensor G5 phone |
|---|---|---|
| Geekbench 6 single-core | 3,391 | 2,288 |
| Geekbench 6 multi-core | 10,085 | 6,030 |
| 3DMark Wild Life Extreme score | 6,546 | 3,182 |
| 3DMark Wild Life Extreme frame rate | 39.2 FPS | 19.05 FPS |
In the reviewer’s 3DMark Solar Bay run, the Tensor G5 phone was marked “DNF,” while Dimensity 9500 devices completed the test. That result is specific to the reviewed devices and run; it is not proof that every Tensor G5 phone will fail the test.

What Google’s performance claims mean
Google’s August 2025 announcement says Tensor G5 has a “34% faster on average CPU” than Tensor G4, based on Google’s internal testing on pre-production Pixel 10 devices. Google also claims an “up to 60% more powerful TPU” compared with Tensor G4. These are company claims against Tensor G4—not direct comparisons with Dimensity 9500—and should not be substituted for independent chip-to-chip test results.
Google’s case for Tensor G5 therefore rests partly on what the chip enables inside Pixel phones: on-device Gemini Nano and Pixel features such as Magic Cue and Voice Translate. Feature availability depends on the phone and software. The announcement describes Google’s intent and capabilities; it does not provide an independent comparison of AI performance against Dimensity 9500.

Which chip should you choose?
Choose by benchmark-heavy CPU or graphics workloads
If peak benchmark performance is your priority, the cited results favor the Dimensity 9500 phones tested by Android Central. That evidence is most relevant as a signal for CPU and graphics workloads resembling those tests. It does not prove sustained gaming performance or better real-world responsiveness in every phone.

Choose by Pixel features and software
If you want Google’s Pixel-specific AI and imaging features, Tensor G5 is the platform Google announced for Pixel 10 devices. Judge those features on the exact model you plan to buy: Google identifies Pro Res Zoom on selected models, and feature availability can vary by device and software.
Compare complete phones for everyday ownership
A chipset comparison cannot settle the factors that often determine the better purchase. Compare the actual models for sustained performance and thermals, battery life, camera implementation, software support, price, and the features you will use. Dimensity 9500 and Tensor G5 are integrated smartphone platforms, not ordinary standalone upgrades.
