No. Java Edition players and Bedrock Edition players cannot join the same official Minecraft Realm. Realms supports cross-play only among players using the same edition: Java players can share a Java Realm, and Bedrock players can share a Bedrock Realm.
What “cross-play” means for Minecraft Realms
For Realms, cross-play means playing together across supported devices within one edition—not across Java and Bedrock. Minecraft’s official Realms FAQ says Java players can join a Realm with other Java players, while Bedrock players can play with other Bedrock players.

The editions use different servers, so a Java client cannot join a Bedrock Realm, and a Bedrock client cannot join a Java Realm. The Minecraft edition guide confirms that Java and Bedrock players cannot play together.

| Realm | Who can join | Supported platform context |
|---|---|---|
| Java Realm | Players using Java Edition | Java cross-play is listed for Windows, Linux, and macOS. |
| Bedrock Realm | Players using Bedrock Edition | Bedrock cross-play is available across supported Bedrock devices, including Windows, consoles, and mobile. |
Minecraft’s Java and Bedrock for PC page describes the platform cross-play options. Device support does not remove the edition requirement: every player joining one Realm must use its edition.

How to check which edition you have
- On a console: Minecraft console players use Bedrock Edition.
- On a computer: If the loading screen shows “Java Edition” under the Minecraft logo, you are running Java. If it does not, you are using Bedrock.
These identification checks come from Minecraft’s edition guide. Check with your friends before choosing a Realm or sending an invite.
What if one player owns both editions?
A player with access to both editions on PC can launch the one their group uses. Switching editions lets that person join different groups in their respective Realms; it does not allow Java and Bedrock players to enter the same Realm together.

Can a bridge or proxy make Java and Bedrock players share a Realm?
Minecraft’s official Realms and edition pages explain the edition split but do not document or endorse a third-party bridge or proxy that combines the two editions on one official Realm. The supported choice is to use a Java Realm for a Java group or a Bedrock Realm for a Bedrock group.
