The Dimensity 7300X has the stronger specification profile and higher scores in the comparison cited here, while the Dimensity 1080 has a higher maximum clock for its two performance cores. The 7300X uses four Cortex-A78 cores, a newer 4nm-class process and a Mali-G615 GPU; the 1080 uses two Cortex-A78 cores, a 6nm-class process and a Mali-G68 MC4. Those differences favor the newer chip on paper, but they do not guarantee that every phone using it will be faster in every task.
Dimensity 1080 vs Dimensity 7300X: key specifications
MediaTek’s published specifications describe platform capabilities, not necessarily the components or modes a phone maker puts into a particular handset. In particular, display and camera figures below are ceilings or supported configurations rather than promises about every phone.

The 7300X has twice as many Cortex-A78 performance cores: four, running up to 2.5GHz. The 1080 has two A78 cores with a higher listed peak of 2.6GHz, alongside six Cortex-A55 cores. The 7300X’s core count points to more performance-core capacity for work that can use several cores; the 1080’s slightly higher maximum A78 frequency is not enough by itself to establish which phone feels quicker.

What the benchmark results do—and do not—show
The cited comparison gives the 7300X higher AnTuTu and Geekbench 6 results. That is consistent with its newer platform profile and greater number of performance cores, but the scores alone cannot quantify a guaranteed improvement in everyday use, battery life or gaming.

No directly comparable game-frame-rate or sustained-thermal result for these exact chips is established here. The GPU names and synthetic benchmark totals are not substitutes for testing the complete phones under the same game, settings and duration. Cooling design, screen resolution, firmware and power limits can change how a handset performs over time.

Choose a 7300X phone when its complete package fits
The 7300X is the more modern specification profile in this comparison: 4nm-class process, four Cortex-A78 cores, Mali-G615 graphics, and newer listed wireless versions. It is the more promising starting point if you are choosing between otherwise comparable phones, but the processor alone cannot confirm sustained gaming performance or efficiency.

Do not rule out a 1080 phone on the chip name alone
A phone with the Dimensity 1080 may still be the better purchase if its screen, camera, battery, software support, thermal behavior or price better suits you. The 1080 also supports features such as LPDDR5 memory, UFS 3.1 storage and 120Hz Full HD+ displays; actual handset configurations vary.
