Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 leads the available CPU and benchmark evidence, but that does not guarantee every phone using it will outperform every Dimensity 6300 phone. Its reported four Cortex-A78 performance cores and the available AnTuTu results put it ahead on paper; the scores come from different phones and are not a controlled head-to-head test. For a buying decision, compare the actual handsets as well as their chips.
How the specifications compare
The clearest architectural difference is the CPU layout. MediaTek publishes the Dimensity 6300 specifications, while several Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 details below come from independent listings rather than a complete Qualcomm specification sheet.

CPU: newer performance cores favor Snapdragon
The Snapdragon’s four reported Cortex-A78 cores are a newer performance-core design than the Dimensity 6300’s two Cortex-A76 cores. Both listings include four efficiency-oriented Cortex-A55 cores or six on the MediaTek chip, but core counts alone do not predict how a particular phone will behave under sustained load.

GPU: names do not settle gaming performance
The listed graphics processors are Mali-G57 MC2 and Adreno 812. The available evidence does not provide a shared, controlled GPU test, so the GPU names alone cannot establish frame rates or sustained gaming performance. Cooling, firmware, game settings, and the handset’s power limits matter too.
Features depend on the phone implementation
Chip support is not a guarantee that a handset includes every supported feature. A manufacturer chooses the memory and storage configuration, display, Wi-Fi implementation, and regional network bands. MediaTek’s published Dimensity 6300 details are more specific than the Snapdragon details available here, so the table is not a complete feature-by-feature specification comparison.

Geekbench and device-level results vary
NanoReview lists Geekbench 6 scores of 1,099 single-core and 3,481 multi-core for Snapdragon 6 Gen 5. Notebookcheck reports Geekbench 6.7 single-core results of 1,038 and 1,097 across two listed phone models, with multi-core results of 3,202 and 3,344. Separately, 91mobiles reports a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 phone reaching 984,877 in AnTuTu and 1,083 single-core / 3,469 multi-core in Geekbench 6; it describes that AnTuTu score as its highest recorded among tested devices.
These are results from different devices and sources, not a direct comparison against the Dimensity 6300 in an otherwise identical handset. Test version, cooling, firmware, and test method can all affect scores. The available benchmarks cannot establish sustained gaming performance, heat, battery life, or overall value.

Qualcomm’s May 7, 2026 announcement claims up to 21% better GPU performance, 20% faster app launches, and 18% less screen stutter for Snapdragon 6 Gen 5. Those are Qualcomm’s claims against its stated comparison context, not results from a direct test against Dimensity 6300.
MediaTek says Dimensity 6300 enables up to 10% faster gaming than the previous generation. It also claims an “over 50% GPU performance advantage versus competitor alternative platforms,” but the product-page wording does not clearly identify the comparator. That claim should not be read as a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 comparison.

- You may need the CP2102 driver available from the Silabs website. It is free and easy to install.
- This board features the ESP8266 ESP-12F but has all of its pins broken out. This enables the ESP8266 to be breadboard compatible. It also has an integrated micro-usb port which makes powering and programming the chip far easier compared to having to use a usb-to-serial adapter.
- The NodeMcu firmware can be loaded easily if you want to develop programs in Lua. It is also compatible when other leading micro-controller development platforms.
- This board has a female Micro-USB port on the board for power and program uploading. This port type is very common on many consumer electronics and on smartphones.
- Flashing this device is easy. To flash, just hold the flash button and perform the flash using firmware programming software.

Which chip should you choose?
Choose Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 if performance is your priority
For two otherwise similar phones, Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 is the performance-leaning choice based on its reported CPU layout and the benchmark snapshot. Treat that as a chip-level indication, not a guarantee about every handset or workload.
Consider Dimensity 6300 when the phone is the better fit
Dimensity 6300 is a 5G smartphone platform with documented support for displays up to 120 Hz. A phone built around it may still be the better purchase if its screen, camera, battery, memory and storage configuration, software support, price, or regional network compatibility better meet your needs.
Quick Recap
Compare the exact handsets before buying
- Check the full model name and regional variant; phones sold under similar names can differ in chipset or network bands.
- Compare the installed RAM and storage, not just the platform’s theoretical support.
- Look for handset-specific reviews that test sustained performance, heat, battery life, and gaming on the exact models.
- Compare display, camera, software update policy, and current price alongside benchmark results.
- Confirm the phone supports the network bands used by your carrier and region.
