The MediaTek Dimensity 6080 is the clear choice if you need 5G: MediaTek lists 5G support for it, while the Helio G99 is a 4G LTE chipset. On paper, both have two Cortex-A76 and six Cortex-A55 CPU cores, Mali-G57 MC2 graphics, and support for LPDDR4X memory and UFS 2.2-class storage. The 6080’s two performance cores have a higher stated maximum clock, but benchmark results vary by version and device. For phones that do not need 5G, the full handset matters more than the chip name alone.
Dimensity 6080 vs Helio G99 specifications
MediaTek’s official specifications show two platforms with similar CPU and GPU configurations, but different cellular capabilities. The figures below describe platform support, not guaranteed features in every phone.

Specifications are from MediaTek’s Dimensity 6080 page and MediaTek’s Helio G99 page. MediaTek’s Dimensity page appears under its tablet products, but the chip is also used in phones; that page does not mean the platform is tablet-only. Phone makers choose which supported memory, display, wireless, and other components to implement.
Does the Helio G99 support 5G?
No. MediaTek’s Helio G99 specification lists 4G LTE, while its Dimensity 6080 specification lists 5G modes. If 5G is a requirement, choose a phone built around a 5G-capable platform and check the exact regional model’s supported bands against your carrier. A chipset’s 5G capability alone does not guarantee compatibility with every network.

What the shared CPU and GPU specifications mean
CPU: the 6080 has a higher listed peak clock
Both chips use two Cortex-A76 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores. MediaTek lists the A76 cores at up to 2.4 GHz on the Dimensity 6080 and up to 2.2 GHz on the Helio G99; the A55 cores are listed up to 2 GHz on both. This is a specification difference, not proof that every 6080 phone will feel faster in every task. Cooling, software, memory configuration, and power management affect actual results.
GPU: the same name does not guarantee the same gaming experience
Both official pages list Mali-G57 MC2 graphics. That shared label does not establish identical gaming performance across phones. Display resolution, cooling, memory, game settings, and sustained power limits all influence frame rates and stability. The available comparison figures do not provide a controlled gaming test using otherwise identical phones, so they cannot settle which chip is better for gaming in every case.

- Carrier: This phone is locked to Tracfone, which means this device can only be used on the Tracfone wireless network. Tracfone plan required, activating is easy, just 3 steps.
- DISPLAY: Immersive viewing on a 6.7-inch super-bright 120Hz display with powerful stereo speakers and Bass Boost for cinematic entertainment.
- CAMERA SYSTEM: Advanced 50MP Quad Pixel camera captures sharp, detailed photos and videos in any lighting condition
- PERFORMANCE: Lightning-fast 5G connectivity paired with a powerful processor and RAM Boost for smooth multitasking.
- BATTERY LIFE: Long-lasting 5000mAh battery with TurboPower charging technology delivers hours of power in minutes.
Memory, storage, and display support are platform ceilings
Both platforms list LPDDR4X memory and UFS 2.2-class storage. The Dimensity page specifies two-lane UFS 2.2; the G99 page lists UFS 2.2-class support. The listed maximum display refresh rates and resolution ceilings are also capabilities, not promises about a finished phone. Compare the actual handset’s screen and RAM/storage configuration rather than assuming it uses the platform maximum.
Benchmark results: compare like with like
Published scores are observations from particular sources, devices, and benchmark versions—not fixed specifications for a chip. The available comparisons disagree on the size and direction of some gaps, so a single score should not be treated as a universal ranking.

The 91mobiles comparison also reports component sub-scores, with the G99 ahead in its displayed GPU sub-score even though the 6080 has the higher overall score. That is another reason not to infer gaming performance from an overall benchmark total. See the comparisons from 91mobiles, NanoReview, and NanoReview.info. Their results use different benchmark versions, devices, sample sizes, and collection contexts; treat them as separate comparisons rather than combining the numbers into one ranking.
