To open the Dell Pro Max 14 (MC14250), shut it down, disconnect peripherals, loosen its eight captive base-cover screws, then release the clips with a plastic scribe starting at the recesses near the hinges. Dell documents M.2 2230 and 2280 SSD procedures and LPCAMM2 memory configurations up to 64 GB; check your unit’s configuration and part compatibility before buying anything.
Before opening the MC14250
- Shut down the laptop and disconnect attached peripherals.
- Use electrostatic-discharge (ESD) protection while working inside. Dell’s battery-replacement video advises wearing an ESD wrist strap to help prevent damage from electrostatic discharge.
- Use a plastic scribe or laptop pry tool and an appropriate precision screwdriver. Dell’s video identifies the plastic scribe, but the materials reviewed do not establish a particular screwdriver model.
How to remove the base cover
- Loosen the eight captive screws securing the base cover to the palm-rest assembly. Captive screws remain attached to the cover.
- Insert a plastic scribe at the recesses near the hinges, then work it along the edges to release the cover clips.
- Lift the released base cover away. Use the MC14250 Owner’s Manual procedure for the specific part you intend to remove or replace.
To reinstall the cover, align it with the chassis, press it into place so the clips engage, and tighten the captive screws.

Which components can you upgrade?
Storage: M.2 2230 or M.2 2280 SSD
Dell’s Owner’s Manual provides separate removal and installation procedures for M.2 2230 and M.2 2280 solid-state drives. The 2280 procedure calls for removing the base cover, taking out the two M2x3 screws that secure the SSD bracket, lifting off the bracket, removing the M2x4 drive-retaining screw, and withdrawing the drive from its connector.

Memory: LPCAMM2, up to 64 GB
Dell specifies one LPCAMM2 slot using LPDDR5x memory at 7467 MT/s. The supported capacities listed are 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB, with 64 GB the maximum configuration documented in the manual. These are product specifications, not a guarantee that a particular retail module will work in every configuration.
LPCAMM2 is not interchangeable with ordinary SO-DIMM laptop memory. Identify your installed configuration and verify the exact replacement’s compatibility before purchasing.

What Dell’s documentation establishes—and what it does not
Dell’s model-specific materials describe the base-cover opening and component procedures, but do not establish the SSD size or memory configuration in an individual owner’s laptop. They also do not validate a particular third-party replacement part. Use the MC14250 procedure for the component you are handling and check the system’s configuration before ordering. These steps are based on Dell’s published materials, not hands-on testing.
