There is no single best affiliate platform for every business. Choose by the job you need done: Amazon Associates for a broad consumer-product catalog, Awin or CJ for discovering advertiser programs, impact.com for managing a broader mix of partnerships, or PartnerStack for B2B software partnerships. These are shortlist directions, not a universal ranking—and the available evidence does not support ranking 11 services on one scale.
Start with the kind of platform you need
“Affiliate platform” can mean a marketplace where publishers find products, a network connecting publishers with advertisers, or software a merchant uses to run partner relationships. Those services solve different problems, so compare like with like rather than treating every provider as a direct substitute.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Catalog marketplace: A publisher can promote products listed in a marketplace. Amazon Associates is the example in this comparison; rates and attribution conditions depend on the program’s current rules and product category.
- Classic affiliate network: Awin and CJ are options for discovering advertiser programs. Each advertiser can set its own approval requirements and terms.
- Partnership-management platform: impact.com is positioned for broader operations that may include affiliates, creators, and referrals. That scope is more relevant when a business needs to manage several partner types than when it only needs a small, basic affiliate program.
- B2B SaaS partner platform: PartnerStack is oriented toward business-software partnerships, including subscription-focused programs; it is not the natural starting point for a general physical-retail catalog.
Which providers fit which use cases?
| Provider | Best-fit use in this comparison | What to verify before choosing |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon Associates | Consumer-product publishers seeking a broad marketplace catalog | Current category rates, attribution conditions, exclusions, and program rules |
| Awin | Publishers or merchants evaluating advertiser discovery and network reach | Relevant advertisers, approval terms, regional availability, and which Awin platform version supports the workflow you need |
| CJ | Publishers or merchants evaluating advertiser discovery through a classic network | Relevant advertiser availability, individual program terms, regional reach, and payment requirements |
| impact.com | Merchants considering one operational layer for affiliate, creator, and referral relationships | Whether the additional partnership-management scope fits the program’s scale, integrations, and staffing |
| PartnerStack | B2B software publishers and merchants building SaaS partner activity | Program qualification, recurring-commission rules, and fit with the software audience |
This is a use-case comparison, not an independently tested ranking. The 2024 Performance Marketing Brand Survey names several providers respondents use, including Awin, Commission Junction, impact.com, PartnerStack, and Rakuten Advertising, but does not publish provider-by-provider usage percentages. Its list therefore cannot establish a market leader or a top-five order.

1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteChoose from the publisher’s side
Start with the audience and the offers that genuinely fit it. A general consumer-product publication can evaluate Amazon Associates for catalog breadth, then check whether relevant advertiser programs are available through Awin or CJ. A publication focused on business software can consider PartnerStack alongside direct vendor programs.
#1 Best Overall
For every specific program, compare the conditions that determine whether a referral is useful and payable:
- Whether the merchant and relevant products participate, and whether the publisher is accepted.
- How commission is calculated, which actions qualify, and what products or transactions are excluded.
- The attribution window and how a conversion is recorded or confirmed.
- Payout rules, geographic eligibility, and any currency or payment constraints.
- What tracking and reporting are available for the program.
These terms can differ between advertisers on the same network. Do not assume a platform-wide average commission unless the provider publishes one and defines what it measures. The comparison of Amazon Associates also notes that its rates and attribution depend on current program rules and category, so check the applicable official terms before relying on a figure.
Rank #2
Choose from the merchant’s side
A merchant should start with the markets and partners it needs to reach, then assess the work required to operate the program. Compare:
- Publisher reach in the target regions and the availability of advertisers or partners relevant to the business.
- Recruitment and partner-management tools, including whether the platform fits the program’s mix of affiliates, creators, or referral partners.
- Tracking and attribution rules, integration requirements, and reporting workflows.
- Payment operations, including any local currency, entity, or cross-border requirements.
- The staff time needed to recruit partners, review activity, manage communications, and administer the program.
impact.com is the more relevant candidate in this set when a merchant needs broader partnership operations. Awin and CJ are candidates when advertiser discovery and network reach are central. The right fit depends on the merchant’s actual markets and operating needs, not the provider name alone.
Rank #3
When is a second network worth adding?
More providers are not automatically better. The Performance Marketing Association’s 2024 survey reports that 91.2% of respondents used one network or platform provider. Among brands accepting publishers from outside the US, 27.0% used multiple providers. These are survey findings from respondents, not universal benchmarks or proof that one-provider or multi-provider programs perform better.
Consider adding a provider only when there is a concrete reason, such as distinct advertiser access, regional coverage, local payment needs, or a measured performance gap. The same survey says a single provider can consolidate publisher management, communications, reporting, billing, and payments; it also notes that the appropriate number depends on growth opportunities and business requirements.
Rank #4
What Awin’s 2026 platform change means for ShareASale comparisons
Do not treat ShareASale as a separate, parallel live network without explaining its relationship to Awin. Awin Help’s June 2, 2026 documentation says a new version of the Awin platform launched in 2026 while Awin Classic remains available as features continue to migrate.

Awin’s feature comparison, published March 16 and updated August 10, 2026, covers changes involving transaction auto-validation, attribution management, commission flexibility, and partner communications. It also warns that some described functionality is currently available only on Awin Classic. Confirm the workflow in the relevant regional or account version before selecting Awin for a particular feature.

How affiliate tracking works
Awin Help describes affiliate marketing as a performance-based arrangement: a partner promotes a brand or product, a customer follows a partner link and completes a qualifying action, and the partner earns a reward when that action is confirmed. In the documented flow, tracking links contain partner IDs, browser cookies can help associate activity with a referral, and conversions are recorded for commission management.
That overview does not mean all providers or advertiser programs use identical attribution rules. For a real decision, check the specific program’s attribution window, qualifying events, exclusions, and confirmation process.
How to make a defensible shortlist
- Define the role. Decide whether you are a publisher seeking offers, a merchant recruiting partners, or a business managing multiple partnership types.
- Match the provider type. Start with a catalog marketplace for broad consumer products, a classic network for advertiser discovery, a partnership-management platform for a larger partner mix, or a SaaS-oriented platform for B2B software.
- Check actual availability. Confirm that the merchants, publishers, countries, and payment arrangements you need are supported in the relevant program and account version.
- Compare program-level terms. Review approval, commission calculation, attribution, exclusions, payouts, reporting, and integrations before committing.
- Add complexity only for a reason. Use multiple providers when they solve a specific access, coverage, payment, or performance need that justifies the additional operations.
The 2024 Performance Marketing Brand Survey gives industry context but withholds individual platform usage shares. The platform comparison is editorial rather than an independent test, and commercial terms, availability, approval rules, and features can change. Treat the providers above as candidates to validate against current official program materials, not as a fixed 2026 league table.
