Daikin’s troubleshooting advice and indicator meanings vary by model and region. Stop using the unit and seek service for intermittent power, persistent faults, or abnormal vibration.
1. The purifier will not start
A front panel that is detached or not seated properly can prevent operation. Daikin says the panel’s rear protrusion is part of a safety switch; check that the panel is correctly positioned and that the protrusion is not damaged. Do not open the appliance or attempt electrical repairs. Daikin Global’s troubleshooting guidance identifies these as possible causes.

If the unit starts and stops when its power cord is moved, stop using it and contact the place of purchase. This behavior is not a reason to keep testing or repositioning the cord.

Check for blocked openings
Make sure the air inlet and outlet are not obstructed. If both are clear but the purifier still does not discharge air, Daikin says the fan motor may be defective; contact the place of purchase rather than trying to repair it.

Check that required parts are fitted
Some models stop the fan when a required component is missing or incorrectly installed. Depending on the unit, parts to check may include the prefilter, discharge grille, dust-collection filter, or—in humidifying models—the humidifying filter, tray, or tank. Unplug the purifier before reinstalling parts, and follow the instructions for your model.
For selected errors on models covered by its guidance, Daikin Japan’s FAQ also advises cleaning the prefilter, clearing an obstructed outlet, and reseating listed components. If the error remains, arrange an inspection. These checks do not apply universally; consult the manual for the exact model and market.

3. The outlet air has an unusual odor
On applicable humidifying models, check whether the deodorizing filter, humidifying filter, and humidifying tray need cleaning, using the model manual for the correct cleaning method. When refilling the tank, Daikin advises discarding the water already in the tray. If you are not using humidification, empty both the tank and tray as directed for your model.

An odor sensor may not detect every odor, so a normal sensor reading does not prove that the air is free of smells. These water and humidifying-component checks are relevant only to configurations that include those parts. See Daikin’s odor troubleshooting advice.

4. The purifier makes an abnormal noise or vibrates
Stop using the unit if it produces abnormal sound or vibration, and contact the place of purchase. Daikin distinguishes that situation from a loud operating sound that may result from a dust-collection filter that is not installed correctly. If your model’s manual permits an installation check, unplug the purifier first and confirm the filter is seated as instructed.
Some sounds on humidifying models have ordinary explanations: bubbling can occur as water feeds into the humidifying tray, and clicking can come from the humidifying-filter motor switching on or off. 5. A warning light is blinking or the filter lamp is on
Daikin lamps do not share one universal meaning. Identify the complete model number and consult its manual before deciding whether a light calls for a part to be reseated, a filter change, or a reset.
MCB50: odor-sensor and filter-replacement lamps
In the Daikin MCB50 manual, a blinking odor-sensor lamp is associated with the carbon filter unit being removed or not fully inserted; airflow decreases while the lamp blinks. The manual says the filter-replacement lamp indicates that the dust-collection filter needs replacement soon and directs owners to the place of purchase for the filter. Confirm the exact MCB50 suffix and regional part compatibility before ordering.
Japan-market FAQ: filter lamp reset
For models covered by its Japan-market FAQ, Daikin says to replace the air-cleaning pleated filter and hold the filter-reset button for about five seconds. If the filter is replaced but the lamp is not reset, it may remain illuminated. This procedure is specific to the applicable models and market; do not assume your Daikin has the same button or reset sequence. Check the Daikin Japan FAQ and your manual.
When to contact Daikin or the place of purchase
- Stop using the purifier and seek service if it starts and stops when the power cord moves, or if it produces abnormal sound or vibration.
- Contact the place of purchase if airflow does not return after you have checked for blocked openings and correctly installed the parts identified in your manual.
- Seek inspection if a model-specific error persists after the manual’s cleaning and reseating steps.
- Before ordering a replacement filter or other part, confirm the complete model number, suffix, and regional compatibility in the manual or with Daikin or the seller.
Daikin’s global troubleshooting page and manuals provide checks for different models; a symptom alone does not establish which component has failed.
