What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
For an Edgerunners-inspired run, start by reducing HUD decoration, turning on Cinematic Subtitles, lowering ranged and melee aim assistance, keeping Snap to Target off, and using Radioport for a continuous soundtrack. Then decide how much camera motion, weapon sway, Breach Protocol pressure, and PC image-quality scaling you can comfortably handle. These are combinations of controls added or expanded in Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.1, not an official anime preset.
The recommended starting setup
The best starting point balances a clean, cinematic frame with enough information to navigate Night City. Use the following as a baseline, then adjust one group of settings at a time.

| Area | Starting choice | Why it fits an Edgerunners-style run | Change it when… |
|---|---|---|---|
| HUD | Enable Reduce HUD Decorative Elements | Removes nonessential visual clutter while preserving gameplay information. | You need more navigation help, or the remaining HUD is still distracting. |
| HUD effects | Consider Remove HUD Visual Effects and Remove HUD Lens Distortion | Produces a cleaner, less processed view of the city and combat. | You prefer the game’s original visual effects or want stronger visual feedback. |
| Subtitles | Enable Cinematic Subtitles | Keeps important dialogue readable during heavily staged scenes. | Ambient conversations are easy to miss; add Radio Subtitles or Overhead Subtitles. |
| Ranged aim assist | Off or Light | Makes gunfights feel more manual and demanding. | You use a controller, have difficulty tracking targets, or want a more relaxed run. |
| Snap to Target | Off | Prevents the camera from pulling your aim toward enemies. | You need stronger assistance than the ranged slider provides. |
| Camera motion | Leave Additive Camera Motions on only if comfortable | Preserves secondary movement that can make action feel more kinetic. | Motion causes discomfort, visual fatigue, or makes precision aiming harder. |
| Weapon Sway | Choose camera or weapon position according to preference | Lets you decide whether sway affects where the view moves or only the gun model. | You find the chosen movement distracting in prolonged fights. |
| Music | Use Radioport while exploring | Radio continues on foot and on the NCART train, supporting a continuous soundtrack. | You want silence, or quest music should take priority. |
| Breach Protocol | Timer on for pressure; off for role-play | Lets you choose between a tense hacking sequence and an unhurried one. | The timer conflicts with your preferred pace. |
| PC image quality | Choose a supported upscaler, then tune dynamic resolution and image quality | Preserves the neon-heavy look without pretending one preset suits every PC. | Frame rate or clarity is below your display’s needs. |
Check your version and platform first
Update 2.1 introduced a dedicated Accessibility tab and expanded controls for the HUD, subtitles, camera motion, aim assistance, and weapon sway. The settings guidance in this article is anchored to CD PROJEKT RED’s Update 2.1 materials published December 1–5, 2023. Menu wording and the graphics options available on a particular platform can change, so compare the labels in your installed build before assuming a control is missing.
Update 2.1 supports PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. PC also exposes several resolution-scaling choices that are not presented in exactly the same way on consoles. The Ultimate Edition contains the base game, Phantom Liberty, and Update 2.0; it is still worth checking that your installation has the later updates that supply the controls described here.

Build a cleaner, more cinematic HUD
Reduce decorative clutter first
Open the game’s Accessibility settings and enable Reduce HUD Decorative Elements. CD PROJEKT RED describes this option as hiding elements that are unnecessary for gameplay to reduce clutter and improve visibility. It is the least disruptive way to make the screen feel closer to a composed anime shot: objectives, combat information, and navigation can remain while ornamental pieces recede.
Decide whether navigation matters more than strict immersion
A completely sparse HUD is not automatically better. The minimap and objective markers are useful when you are learning districts, following a vehicle route, or trying to reach a timed objective. Keep them if losing your bearings would interrupt the role-play. For a second run through familiar missions, hiding more information can make street-level exploration feel less like following an interface and more like inhabiting the city.
Remove ghosting and lens distortion only when they help
Remove HUD Visual Effects targets HUD ghosting and similar visual residue. Remove HUD Lens Distortion removes the curved or distorted treatment applied to the interface. Try each independently. If text appears to smear during camera movement, the first is the logical test; if the interface looks bent or optically processed, test the second. These are comfort and presentation choices, not performance boosts.

Use larger elements when readability wins
Update 2.1 also includes larger HUD elements. Increase them when you play at a distance, use a small display, or miss status information after reducing decoration. A cinematic frame that forces you to squint is a poor trade: readability should take priority over minimalism.
Make dialogue and ambient sound easier to follow
Turn on Cinematic Subtitles
Enable Cinematic Subtitles for dialogue presented during scripted scenes. Adjust text size and the cinematic subtitle background opacity until words remain legible over bright signs, rain, and rapid camera cuts. Opacity that is too low can disappear into Night City’s lighting; opacity that is too high can cover faces and environmental detail.

- Cyberpunk 2077 is an open world, an action adventure story set in night city
- Become a cyberpunk, an urban mercenary equipped with cybernetic enhancements and build your legend on the streets of Night city
- Take the riskiest job of your life and go after a prototype implant that is the key to immortality
Add subtitles selectively for the world around you
Radio Subtitles help when music or broadcasts carry information you do not want to miss. Overhead Subtitles can expose nearby conversations that would otherwise be swallowed by traffic and combat noise. Enable them for a dialogue-focused or accessibility-oriented run; leave them off if you want only the major cinematic exchanges represented on screen.
Tune aim assistance for manual, high-stakes gunfights
Understand the four ranged levels
Ranged aim assist has four documented choices: Off, Light, Standard, and Substantial. CD PROJEKT RED defines the control as changing how much the game assists while aiming. Start at Off for the most hands-on feel. Light is a useful compromise when small corrections are difficult, especially on a controller. Standard and Substantial make target acquisition more forgiving and are valid choices when accessibility matters more than challenge.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsKeep Snap to Target separate
Snap to Target is an independent control. Leave it off if you want to choose every target yourself and avoid the view pulling toward an enemy. Turning it on can make aiming easier, but it changes the rhythm of a fight more dramatically than moving between the ranged assistance levels.
Set melee assistance independently
Melee aim assist has three choices: Off, Light, and Standard. A gun-focused character can use Light or Standard for close-range consistency while keeping ranged assistance Off. Conversely, a blade-heavy run can stay manual at range and use Light melee assistance when several opponents surround you.
Remember vehicle combat
Vehicle combat aim assist is a separate On/Off toggle. It does not inherit your ranged or melee selection. Turn it off for maximum manual control during driving fights; turn it on if tracking targets while steering creates an unnecessary barrier.

Choose a camera and weapon feel you can play for hours
Additive Camera Motions
Additive Camera Motions controls secondary movement layered onto the camera. Leaving it on can make sprinting, impacts, and other actions feel more kinetic, which suits an intense, handheld-inspired presentation. Disable or reduce motion when it causes nausea, eye strain, or difficulty keeping a reticle on a moving target. Comfort is a practical setting, not a failure to achieve immersion.
Weapon Sway
The weapon-sway options let you decide whether sway affects the camera or the weapon position. Camera sway makes the entire view move and is the more dramatic choice. Weapon-position sway keeps the world steadier while allowing the gun model to shift. If you like visible motion but need a stable horizon, move sway to the weapon position.
Keep an Edgerunners-like soundtrack moving through Night City
Use Radioport when roaming. Update 2.1 lets you listen to the radio while on foot or while riding the NCART train. When you enter a vehicle, the system switches to that vehicle’s car radio. Quest-specific music takes priority, so Radioport yields when a mission soundtrack begins rather than competing with it. This makes the feature useful for free exploration without undermining deliberately scored scenes.
For a focused story sequence, allow quest music to take over and avoid changing stations during dialogue. For travel between objectives, Radioport supplies the continuous musical thread that makes ordinary walking and train rides feel like part of the same episode.
Decide whether Breach Protocol should have a timer
Update 2.1 added an option to disable the Breach Protocol timer. Keep the timer enabled when you want hacking to carry the same pressure as a firefight: inspect the grid, commit to a sequence, and accept that hesitation costs an opportunity. Disable it for a slower role-play run in which you study the board and treat hacking as a deliberate technical task. The choice affects tempo, not the visual presentation of the rest of the game.

Configure PC graphics without a fake universal preset
Pick the resolution-scaling family available to your system
On PC, Graphics Settings offers several resolution-scaling families: DLSS Super Resolution, AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.1, and Intel Xe Super Sampling 1.2. Select the family supported by your hardware and driver stack, then evaluate the image at the resolution and refresh rate you actually use. The names identify different reconstruction methods; they are not interchangeable quality guarantees.
Tune dynamic resolution and image quality together
After selecting an upscaler, adjust Dynamic Resolution Scaling and the image-quality setting while watching both motion clarity and frame-rate stability. A sharper preset can preserve thin neon signs and distant silhouettes but may reduce performance. A more aggressive performance setting can keep combat fluid while introducing softness or reconstruction artifacts. There is no honest universal recommendation without your GPU, processor, display resolution, and target frame rate.
Use a repeatable test route
- Stand in a dense, illuminated street with signage, traffic, and pedestrians.
- Move through the area at walking speed, then sprint and turn rapidly.
- Check fine details such as cables, railings, faces, and distant signs.
- Repeat during a combat encounter or another scene that stresses your system.
- Keep the setting that meets your frame-rate target without making the image distracting.
Change one graphics control at a time. Otherwise, you will not know whether an improvement came from the upscaler, dynamic resolution, or image-quality level.

A practical order for changing everything
- Pause the game and open Settings.
- Enter the Accessibility tab for HUD, subtitle, aim-assist, camera-motion, and weapon-sway controls.
- Apply the HUD cleanup and subtitle choices before changing combat assistance; this lets you judge readability independently.
- Set ranged, melee, Snap to Target, and vehicle aim assistance separately.
- Test Additive Camera Motions and Weapon Sway in a safe area, then keep the combination that remains comfortable during a long session.
- Enable Radioport for exploration and choose the Breach Protocol timer according to the pace you want.
- On PC, open Graphics Settings, choose a supported resolution-scaling family, and tune dynamic resolution and image quality using a repeatable route.
- Play one combat encounter and one travel segment before making another change. Keep notes mentally or on paper so you do not undo a setting that solved a different problem.
Troubleshoot the most common compromises
The screen still feels busy
Confirm that Reduce HUD Decorative Elements is enabled, then test Remove HUD Visual Effects and Remove HUD Lens Distortion individually. If navigation suffers, restore the minimap or objective markers rather than re-enabling every decorative element.
Aiming feels either sticky or too difficult
Check Snap to Target first because it is separate from the ranged slider. If the view still pulls toward enemies, lower ranged assistance from Standard to Light or Off. If manual aiming is stopping you from enjoying the game, move upward one level instead of compensating with unrelated camera settings.
Best Value
Motion is uncomfortable
Disable or reduce Additive Camera Motions, then move Weapon Sway to the weapon position so the horizon stays steadier. Re-test before changing aim assistance; motion discomfort and target tracking are related but not the same problem.
Subtitles disappear into the environment
Increase subtitle text size and cinematic subtitle background opacity. Keep Cinematic Subtitles enabled even if you disable Radio or Overhead Subtitles, since those controls cover different dialogue sources.
PC performance fluctuates
Use Dynamic Resolution Scaling with a supported upscaler and lower image quality one step before making multiple changes. Re-test in a dense street and a fight. If clarity is acceptable but frame rate is unstable, favor a steadier target over a sharper still image.

These controls can reduce interface clutter, shape subtitle presentation, change how much the game corrects your aim, alter camera and weapon movement, keep music present during travel, and adjust the pressure of hacking. They cannot turn the game into an official anime mode, recreate a particular character’s build, or guarantee the same visual result on every display and PC. Treat the settings as a toolkit: choose the combination that supports the mood you want without sacrificing readability or comfort.
