That distinction is useful, but it is not a definitive feature-by-feature verdict: current official Devin pricing and product details are not established here. Cursor’s plans and workflow are documented, and a 2026 study found different results depending on task type.
How do Cursor and Devin differ in practice?
Cursor is an AI coding editor with an agent designed to work alongside a developer in a repository. Its Agent can plan and build features, fix bugs, review changes, edit code, and run terminal commands. Cursor describes itself as “a coding agent for building ambitious software” in its documentation.

Devin is characterized in secondary comparison coverage as a more autonomous coding agent. That description can help frame the workflow choice, but it should not be read as a verified, current inventory of Devin’s capabilities. A secondary Devin-versus-Cursor comparison provides that characterization; the available official Devin details do not support a complete current comparison of execution, integrations, controls, or usage terms.

| What matters to you | Cursor | Devin |
|---|---|---|
| Stay in the editor while the AI helps | Documented editor-and-agent workflow, including code edits and terminal commands. Cursor Agent overview | Not established by the available current official details. |
| Delegate work to an autonomous agent | Cursor documents cloud-based Projects for larger efforts; delegation is not exclusive to Devin. Cursor Projects documentation | Secondary coverage describes Devin as more autonomous, but current specifics are not established. |

| Choose based on a benchmark | A 2026 study reported a higher overall pull-request acceptance rate for Cursor in its dataset, but not across every task type. | The same study reported a lower overall rate in its dataset; that does not establish performance on a particular team’s work. |
If you want to work interactively, steer the agent, and review its edits in the context of your project, Cursor’s documented workflow aligns with that preference. If you want to hand off work and have an agent operate more independently, Devin’s secondary-market characterization may be relevant—but confirm the current product behavior and controls before relying on it.

What does Cursor cost, and how should you compare usage?
Cursor’s official US pricing page, accessed October 7, 2026, lists these plan prices: Cursor pricing.
| Cursor plan | Listed price |
|---|---|
| Hobby | Free |
| Pro | $20/month |
| Pro+ | $60/month |
| Ultra | $200/month |
| Teams | From $40/user/month |
| Enterprise | Custom |
These are listed plan prices, not a promise that each plan buys the same amount of useful work across models or workloads. Cursor’s documentation says Pro, Pro Plus, and Ultra have separate Cursor Models and Other Models usage pools, and that model choice affects how quickly included usage is consumed. Users may add on-demand usage or upgrade. Check the current models and pricing documentation for the applicable terms.

Because current official Devin pricing and usage terms are not established here, comparing its cost with a Cursor plan would risk presenting an unverified figure. Before choosing on price, confirm Devin’s current plan, included usage, and any additional charges on its official site, then compare them with your expected task volume and model choices.

What does benchmark evidence say?
A 2026 study by Pinna and co-authors analyzed 7,156 pull requests and reported an overall pull-request acceptance rate of 74.4% for Cursor and 68.0% for Devin. Those figures describe the study’s dataset and metric, not a guarantee of code quality or a prediction for your repository. The authors found that no agent led across all task types, so the aggregate rates should not be treated as a universal ranking. Read the study abstract for its scope and caveat.
Acceptance rate is only one way to assess an agent. Your decision may also depend on whether its changes fit your conventions, how much review they require, and whether its workflow matches the way your team assigns and approves work. The study does not establish which tool will be better for those needs.
Quick Recap
How to make the decision for your team
- Choose the work pattern. Decide whether developers want to guide an agent inside an editor or hand off tasks for more autonomous execution.
- Check execution and availability. Confirm whether each tool runs locally or in the cloud, whether it can continue while a developer is away, and what controls are available. Cursor documents cloud-based Projects; current Devin specifics are not established here.
- Match the work to the repository. Check how each tool handles your repository context, integrations, and team controls rather than assuming capabilities from the product category.
- Estimate real usage. Use expected task volume and model choices to compare included usage, on-demand charges, and upgrade requirements. Do not compare sticker prices alone.
- Set the review boundary. Decide how much human review and approval is required before code is merged, then verify that the agent workflow supports that process.
