CONTROL Resonant is a single-player action-adventure RPG with an estimated 25–30-hour main-focused campaign. It has no documented co-op mode, but its Assist Mode lets you tune individual combat mechanics, including damage, enemy aggression, dodge timing, projectile speed, and even immortality. Accessibility options cover audio, subtitles, controls, interface, visual comfort, movement comfort, and offline pausing across several settings menus.
How long is CONTROL Resonant?
Plan on roughly 25–30 hours for a main-focused run. That range is an attributed estimate rather than a fixed runtime: lead gameplay designer Sergey Mohov described the game as having a 30-hour length in a 2026 TechRadar interview, while a separate TechRadar review reported 25 hours to finish the main campaign and some side quests.

Your actual playtime can move outside that range. Exploration, optional quests, collectibles, combat retries, and the way you configure Assist Mode all affect the clock. The reviewer continued into the open world after finishing the campaign to clear remaining quests and collectibles, so 25 hours should not be treated as a completionist estimate.
What the estimates include
- About 30 hours: Sergey Mohov’s 2026 interview estimate for the game’s length.
- 25 hours: A TechRadar reviewer’s time to complete the main campaign while also doing some side quests.
- Longer runs: Expect additional time for optional activities, exploration, collectibles, repeated encounters, or a slower first playthrough.
Neither figure is an official guaranteed completion time. They are useful planning numbers for the main story, not a promise that every player will see the credits at the same hour.

Do you need to play the first Control?
According to Mohov, you do not have to play the first Control to play Resonant. The original game can enrich the narrative experience, but the sequel is presented as a solo action-adventure RPG centered on Dylan Faden and is intended to be playable on its own.
Is CONTROL Resonant co-op or multiplayer?
There is no documented co-op mode in the released campaign. The PlayStation product listing identifies the PS5 version as “1 player,” and Remedy’s privacy policy groups CONTROL Resonant with the studio’s commercially released single-player games.
That means you should buy it as a solo experience rather than as a game to play through with friends. The official Resonant page lists the game’s platforms and its Dylan Faden-led action-RPG premise, but does not advertise multiplayer, a co-op campaign, or a separate online mode.

No documented feature allows another person to join the campaign as a second character. There is also no published co-op progression system, shared campaign, or online party structure for Resonant. If you are choosing a game specifically for cooperative play, treat the current product information as single-player only unless a future update explicitly changes that status.
Does CONTROL Resonant have an easy mode?
Rather than offering only a few preset difficulty levels, Resonant uses Assist Mode for granular adjustment. You can enable it during play, start from a preset, and then fine-tune individual combat behaviors. This approach lets you reduce a specific obstacle without necessarily making every part of the game easier.
Assist Mode settings
| Setting | What it changes | Useful for |
|---|---|---|
| Enemy aggression | How actively enemies pressure and attack you | Reducing crowd pressure or raising the challenge |
| Incoming damage | Damage your character receives | Making mistakes less punishing |
| Outgoing damage | Damage your attacks deal | Shortening difficult encounters |
| Enemy projectile speed | How quickly ranged attacks travel | Players who need more reaction time |
| Perfect-dodge timing | The timing window for a successful perfect dodge | Making evasive combat more forgiving |
| Power-recovery speed | How quickly powers become available again | Reducing downtime between ability uses |
| Outgoing falter | How strongly your attacks interrupt or stagger enemies | Creating more openings in combat |
| One-hit falters | Whether attacks can trigger a one-hit falter effect | Controlling enemy interruptions |
| Enhanced melee magnetizing | Assistance with melee targeting and connection | Making close-range attacks easier to land |
| Immortality | Prevents your character from dying | Story-focused or no-fail play |
| One-hit kills | Allows enemies to be defeated with one hit | Skipping a combat barrier entirely |
The controls work in both directions. You can lower enemy aggression and incoming damage for a more relaxed run, or increase enemy pressure and damage and narrow dodge timing when you want a tougher challenge. Because each variable is separate, you can target the exact mechanic causing trouble instead of switching the whole game to a different global tier.

Can Assist Mode be changed after starting?
Yes. Remedy’s Help Center says Assist Mode can be enabled or changed at any point during play. You can begin with a preset and then adjust individual sliders as your needs change, rather than restarting the campaign to apply a different difficulty approach.
Do Assist Mode settings disable trophies or achievements?
No. Remedy states that changing Assist Mode does not remove access to trophies or achievements. You can use the settings while pursuing completion goals, including after you have already started the game.
What accessibility options does CONTROL Resonant include?
Resonant’s documented accessibility support spans more than combat difficulty. Options are distributed across the Gameplay, Controls, Graphics, Audio, and Interface tabs, so check several menus rather than expecting every setting in one accessibility screen.
Audio options
- Separate volume controls for different audio elements.
- Mono audio, which can help when stereo separation is difficult to hear or only one channel is available.
Subtitle and text options
- Basic subtitles for the main story and main characters.
- Large subtitles for easier reading.
- Additional subtitle-presentation controls documented by Remedy’s Help Center.
Steam’s listing also identifies subtitle options and keyboard-only support for the PC version.
Control and input options
- Advanced controller remapping.
- Adjustable stick sensitivity.
- Stick inversion.
- Keyboard-only support on Steam.
Remapping is especially useful if a default button combination is difficult to reach or if you need to move an action to a more comfortable input. Sensitivity and inversion settings can be adjusted independently to match your preferred camera and aiming behavior.

- Choose a preset or adjust individual controls. Start with the closest preset, then change enemy aggression, damage, dodge timing, projectile speed, power recovery, falter behavior, or other available options.

- Check Audio and Subtitles. Set volume levels, enable mono audio if needed, and choose basic or large subtitles.
- Check Graphics and Interface. Review HUD, color-blind interface, visual-effects, and movement-comfort options, including Shift Tunneling where available.
- Apply and test the changes. Try the next encounter or traversal section, then return to the same menus if one setting still causes friction.

For a story-first run
Use lower incoming damage or enemy aggression, widen dodge timing, and enable power recovery assistance if combat interrupts your progress through the story. Immortality or one-hit kills are available when you want to remove combat as a barrier altogether.
For a challenge-focused run
Increase enemy aggression and incoming damage, reduce the forgiveness of dodge timing, and leave power recovery and falter assistance at their normal behavior. Because the settings are independent, you can raise only the mechanics you find too easy.
For a mixed run
Keep standard damage but adjust a single pain point, such as projectile speed or melee magnetizing. This preserves most of the default combat while accommodating reaction-time, motor-control, or targeting needs.
