To connect a Blink Video Doorbell to Alexa, link the accounts in the Blink app at Settings > Account and Privacy > Alexa > Link Alexa, then confirm the doorbell appears in the Alexa app. To hear an Echo announcement when someone presses it, enable Doorbell Press Notifications in the doorbell’s Alexa settings and choose which Alexa devices should announce it.
How to connect Blink Video Doorbell to Alexa
- Check the prerequisites. Update the Blink and Alexa apps and the software on your Alexa device. Blink lists supported Alexa account markets as the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand. Amazon Kids mode must be disabled on Alexa devices for linking. See Blink’s account-linking instructions.
- Link the accounts in Blink. In the Blink app, open Settings > Account and Privacy > Alexa > Link Alexa, then accept Agree & Continue and complete the prompts. The Account and Privacy page should show Alexa as linked. App wording can vary by version. Blink also describes linking through the Blink SmartHome skill in Alexa.
- Check for the doorbell in Alexa. Open the Alexa app and look in Devices. If the Blink doorbell is missing, go to Devices > + > Add Device > Camera > Blink and follow the prompts. Confirm that the doorbell is powered, already set up in Blink, and controllable through the Blink app. Blink’s Alexa skill troubleshooting guide covers discovery problems.
- Turn on press announcements. In Alexa, select the doorbell from Devices, open its settings, enable Doorbell Press Notifications, and choose Announcement Devices. The selected devices will announce a press. For Blink’s directions, see Alexa Doorbell Notifications.
Choose what Alexa should do when someone presses the doorbell
Hear an announcement
Doorbell Press Notifications let selected Alexa devices announce a ring. The announcement setting is configured for the doorbell in Alexa; linking the accounts alone does not select which Echo devices will speak.

See a Live View
To ask Alexa to show the camera, use a compatible Alexa device with a screen, such as an Echo Show. Blink gives the example command Alexa, show [camera name]. Blink says Live View lasts five minutes on compatible devices. See its Live View and two-way audio instructions.

Understand the Live View and local-recording tradeoff
Automatic Live View after a press is not guaranteed for every doorbell configuration. Blink’s Alexa FAQ says enabling Doorbell Press Notifications on a compatible screened Alexa device activates automatic Live View, while its Video Doorbell FAQ describes configurations where automatic Live View for presses or motion events is unsupported. Blink also says that with compatible chime wiring or a Sync Module, Live View can be started by voice; in Event Response mode, voice can start Live View within 60 seconds of a notification announcement. Check Blink’s Video Doorbell FAQ and Alexa FAQ for guidance relevant to your model and mode.
There can also be a choice between automatic Live View and saving ring clips locally. Blink says Sync Module 2 or Sync Module XR local storage can save motion events and doorbell rings, but automatic Live View prevents doorbell ring clips from being saved locally because Live View recording requires a subscription. Blink says turning automatic Live View off can preserve local ring clips, but also disables Echo doorbell announcements. Decide which behavior matters more before changing the setting.

What to check if Alexa cannot find the doorbell
Retry linking and discovery
First confirm the apps and Alexa-device software are current, then try linking the accounts again. If manual discovery still fails, Blink’s troubleshooting guidance is to disable the Blink SmartHome skill, remove the Blink devices from Alexa, and re-enable the skill through the Blink app’s Alexa settings and Alexa’s skill flow.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Check the name Alexa uses
Choose a clear device name and use that name in Live View commands. Blink notes that changing the name in either app can leave Alexa announcing the old name. Its suggested fix is to turn Doorbell Press Notifications off and back on.
