To hide the Account protection area in Windows Security on Intune-managed devices, deploy the Policy CSP setting DisableAccountProtectionUI set to enabled (value 1) to a device group. To keep the area visible, set it to disabled (value 0) or leave it not configured. The setting only controls whether the page appears. It does not change the Windows Hello, Dynamic lock, or Microsoft account protections behind it.
The setting and where it lives
The setting is ./Device/Vendor/MSFT/Policy/Config/WindowsDefenderSecurityCenter/DisableAccountProtectionUI, documented in the WindowsDefenderSecurityCenter Policy CSP reference on Microsoft Learn. It is device-scoped, so it must be assigned to a device group. Assigning it to a user group will not hide the page for that user’s devices.

Microsoft lists the setting as applying to Windows 10 version 1803 and later, in the Pro, Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise / IoT Enterprise LTSC editions. Check the build and edition of each target device before you rely on the policy, because a Home device or an older build will not honor it.

Hidden versus shown: the values
The CSP defines three states. Its own behavior statements are “The Account protection area will be hidden.” and “The Account protection area will be shown.”
| Configured state | Value | Account protection area on the device |
|---|---|---|
| Enabled | 1 |
Hidden |
| Disabled | 0 |
Shown |
| Not configured | No value applied | Shown |
Visibility policy versus the Account protection endpoint security profile
Intune also has an Account protection endpoint security profile with a similar name. Microsoft’s Intune documentation describes that profile as focused on Windows Hello for Business and Credential Guard. It controls credential protection, not the visibility of the Windows Security page, and configuring it does not hide the Account protection area.

What users see when the area is hidden
Microsoft describes the Account protection page as the place where users view account-security and sign-in information. It contains Microsoft account status and account settings links, Windows Hello information and settings, and Dynamic lock information and settings. The Microsoft account section does not appear for users who sign in with a work or school account, whether or not the page is hidden.

When you set the value to 1, those information and settings links disappear from Windows Security. Users can no longer reach them from that page, but Windows Hello, Dynamic lock, and the account protections keep working as configured elsewhere on the device.

Configure the policy in Intune
Microsoft’s Intune navigation changes between releases, so confirm the labels below in your own tenant. A third-party how-to published by HTMD Blog on January 6, 2026 places the setting under Endpoint security > Antivirus in a Windows Security experience profile. That location is not confirmed by Microsoft’s account protection profile documentation, so verify it before you use it.
- Sign in to the Intune admin center and go to Devices > Manage devices > Configuration, then select Create > New policy.
- Set the platform to Windows 10 and later, choose Settings catalog, and name the policy so its purpose is clear, for example “Windows Security – hide Account protection area.”
- Select Add settings and search for Disable Account Protection UI or the exact name
DisableAccountProtectionUI. Add it and set it to Enabled to hide the area, or leave it out to keep the default behavior. - If the setting does not appear in your tenant’s picker, create a custom profile instead: go to Devices > Manage devices > Configuration > Create > New policy, choose Windows 10 and later, select the Templates category, and choose Custom. Add an OMA-URI setting with the path
./Device/Vendor/MSFT/Policy/Config/WindowsDefenderSecurityCenter/DisableAccountProtectionUI, data type Integer, and value1. - Assign the policy to a device group that contains the target Windows devices, not a user group, and review the assignment before saving.
Verify the result
- In the Intune admin center, open the policy and check its device and user status. Wait until the target devices report success. The sources do not give a fixed sync time, so allow the devices to check in before you judge the result.
- On a representative device, sign in and open Windows Security. With the policy applied, the Account protection tile should be absent from the Windows Security home page.
- Test with a user who signs in with a work or school account and with a device that has not yet received the policy, so you can compare the before and after views.
Troubleshooting
- The area is still visible: confirm the device runs Windows 10 version 1803 or later in a listed edition, that the policy is assigned to a device group, and that the device reports success. Check for a conflicting value set to
0in Group Policy or another profile, then restart the device. - The setting is missing from the Settings catalog picker: use the custom OMA-URI method described above.
- Windows Hello or Dynamic lock still works after hiding the page: this is expected. The policy controls only the page’s visibility.
- The Account protection endpoint security profile does not hide the page: this is also expected. Use
DisableAccountProtectionUIfor visibility and the endpoint security profile only for credential-protection settings.
