For a standard Conan Exiles dedicated server, forward UDP 7777 for game traffic, UDP 7778 for the pinger, and UDP 27015 for the PC server query. The pinger is always the game port plus one. Add TCP 25575 only when you intentionally enable RCON. Every router rule and host-firewall rule must point to the server computer’s stable LAN address.

Conan Exiles ports at a glance
These are the ports used by the dedicated-server configuration documented by Funcom. The protocol matters: a UDP rule does not substitute for a TCP rule, and vice versa.

Funcom’s setup documentation summarizes the normal defaults as listening on UDP 27015 and UDP 7777. The 7778 pinger is also needed for reliable browser discovery, even though it is not normally entered as a separate server setting.
What each port does
UDP 7777: player traffic
The game port carries the ordinary connection between players and the server. Set it in Engine.ini under [URL]:

Port=7777You can instead supply a command-line value such as -Port=7779 when launching the server. Use one method consistently so that the value in your startup command does not silently override the value in the configuration file.
UDP 7778: the automatic pinger
The pinger is always one number above the game port. With the default game port of 7777, the pinger is 7778. If you move the game port to 7779, the pinger becomes 7780. It cannot be assigned independently, so never try to solve a collision by changing only the pinger rule.

Server browsers use this response to decide whether a listing is available. A server can appear to be running on the host while remaining absent from the browser if UDP 7778 is blocked by the router or host firewall.
UDP 27015: PC query and browser visibility
The query service is separate from player traffic. Configure it in Engine.ini:

GameServerQueryPort=27015Alternatively, start the process with -QueryPort=27016 or another unused value. Funcom describes the dedicated server as using its custom query implementation and advises removing the deprecated [OnlineSubsystemSteam] section rather than relying on it.
TCP 25575: optional RCON
RCON is an administrative interface, not a player port. Set RconPort=? under [RconPlugin] when you deliberately enable it. Do not open TCP 25575 merely because a port list contains it. If RCON is exposed beyond your trusted network, restrict access at the firewall and router and use a strong administrator credential.

Funcom documents TCP 7777 as an on-demand port for mod transfer in the PC/Epic Games Store configuration. Its behavior is controlled by ModFileDownload.DownloadPortOffset. This is not a replacement for the UDP game, pinger, or query rules, and it is not required for ordinary players unless your server’s mod-download configuration uses that feature.

Before forwarding anything: give the server a stable LAN address
Port forwarding sends traffic to an internal address such as 192.168.1.50. If the router later gives that computer a different address, the rules still point to the old machine and remote connections fail. Reserve the address in the router’s DHCP settings, or configure a static address on the server computer.
- Record the server computer’s LAN IPv4 address.
- Make the address permanent with a DHCP reservation or static configuration.
- Keep the server on the same local network interface used when the forwarding rules are created.
- If the machine has both wired and wireless adapters, ensure the rules target the address that is actually hosting the process.
A stable address is required for both router forwarding and the host operating system’s inbound firewall rules.
Install and configure the dedicated server
Install the server software
Funcom’s setup procedure uses the “Conan Exiles Dedicated Server” Steam tool. SteamCMD can also install or update app ID 443030. Start the server with StartServer.bat on Windows or ConanSandboxServer.exe directly when your launch setup calls for it.

Make a backup before editing. If a command-line option supplies a port, verify that it agrees with the value you intend to forward.
Set the default ports
A minimal default network configuration is:

RconPort=25575After saving, restart the dedicated-server process. Port changes are startup settings; changing a file while the process is running does not reliably move an already-open socket.

Forward the ports in your router
Router interfaces use different names, but the operation is the same: create inbound destination rules from the internet to the server computer’s reserved LAN address. Look for a menu named Port Forwarding, NAT, Virtual Server, or a similar term.
- Open the forwarding page. Sign in to the router that actually provides the public internet connection. If another modem or gateway sits in front of it, you may have more than one NAT device.
- Create the game rule. Set the destination to the server’s fixed LAN address, protocol to UDP, and external and internal port to 7777.
- Create the pinger rule. Use UDP 7778 to the same LAN address.
- Create the query rule. Use UDP 27015 to that address.
- Add RCON only when enabled. If your configuration uses TCP 25575, create a TCP rule for that port and limit its source addresses where the router allows it.
- Save and apply. Some routers reload their firewall after applying changes; wait for that operation to complete before testing.
Do not forward a broad range when three individual UDP rules are sufficient. Narrow rules reduce accidental exposure and make collisions easier to diagnose.
Create matching host-firewall rules
Forwarding at the router is only half of the path. Windows Firewall, a Linux firewall, or security software on the server can still discard the packets. Add inbound allowances for UDP 7777, UDP 7778, and UDP 27015 on the network profile used by the server. Add TCP 25575 only if RCON is active. If you use the documented PC/Epic mod-transfer behavior, account for its TCP setting as configured by ModFileDownload.DownloadPortOffset.
Prefer rules tied to the dedicated-server executable or its listening ports rather than disabling the firewall. Keep the rule scope limited to the required profiles and source networks whenever that does not prevent intended players from connecting.

A test from the same LAN can succeed even when internet traffic is blocked. Use a friend on another connection, a phone hotspot, or another external network.
- Start the server and wait until it has finished loading.
- Confirm that the process is listening locally on the configured game and query ports. Check the server log and the operating system’s listening-socket view; the exact command differs by operating system.
- From an external connection, look for the server in the Conan Exiles browser.
- If it is not listed, test a direct connection using the public address and the configured game port.
- Record which stage fails: local listening, direct remote connection, or browser listing. Each points to a different part of the path.
Browser visibility depends especially on UDP 27015 and the 7778 pinger. A direct connection can therefore provide useful evidence even when the listing is missing.
Why friends cannot see or join the server
The server works locally but not remotely
First compare the router destination with the server’s current LAN address. A DHCP change is one of the most common causes. Then verify that the router rules use UDP for 7777, 7778, and 27015 and that the host firewall permits the same ports.

If both are correct, check the network layout. Double NAT means an upstream gateway is also translating addresses; the forwarding rule may need to exist on both devices, or the inner router may need to be placed behind a suitable bridge or passthrough arrangement. CGNAT places the public address at the ISP level, so an ordinary inbound rule on your home router may never receive unsolicited traffic. Funcom’s cited material does not provide one universal fix for ISP-specific CGNAT or double-NAT arrangements; ask the ISP for a public IPv4 option or use a hosting arrangement that supplies reachable networking.
The server accepts direct connections but is absent from the browser
Check UDP 27015 first, then UDP 7778. Confirm that GameServerQueryPort matches the forwarded query port and that no other process has claimed it. Remove the deprecated [OnlineSubsystemSteam] configuration if it is interfering with the documented custom query implementation. Also verify that the host firewall has an inbound exception; Funcom specifically warns that a firewall exception may be needed for browser visibility.
The process starts but players receive a timeout
Inspect the local listening ports and the startup arguments. A command such as -Port= or -QueryPort= can override the values in Engine.ini. If the process is listening on an alternate port, update both router and host-firewall rules rather than troubleshooting the default numbers.
Only one of several servers is reachable
Look for a port collision. Two processes cannot reliably share the same game or query port. Give each instance a distinct game port and a distinct query port, and forward every replacement to the correct LAN address or instance. Remember that each instance’s pinger is its own game port plus one.

Changing ports when there is a collision
Change the game and query ports as a pair. The pinger follows the game port automatically.

For that example, set Port=7779 and GameServerQueryPort=27016 (or use matching startup options), then forward UDP 7779, UDP 7780, and UDP 27016 to the server’s fixed LAN address. Do not forward 7778 simply because it is the default pinger; the active pinger is now 7780.
Choose unused ports and check every other game service on the host before applying the change. The query port is especially easy to overlook because the game may appear healthy locally while the browser query is answered by another process or not answered at all.
Running two Conan Exiles servers on one machine
Two instances require separate network identities. Keep the first server on the defaults and assign the second a different game port and query port. The pinger for each is automatic.

Launch each process with its own intended configuration and startup arguments. Give each instance a separate settings location or otherwise ensure that one process cannot overwrite the other’s port values. The router may send both sets to the same LAN address, but the operating system must be able to distinguish the sockets by port.
When adding a third instance, repeat the pattern: choose an unused game port, reserve the next number for its pinger, choose an unused query port, and create matching UDP rules. RCON ports must also be unique if each instance exposes RCON.
RCON: useful, but not a player requirement
RCON lets an administrator manage a running server remotely. It is not needed for joining, browser discovery, or normal gameplay. Keep it closed unless you have a specific administrative need.
- Enable

- Restrict the router rule to trusted source addresses or a VPN where possible.
- Use a strong administrator password stored in the server settings rather than reusing a personal account credential.
- For multiple servers, assign a different RCON port to every instance.
Choosing a hosting arrangement
The right arrangement depends less on the game files than on who controls the network edge. Compare the options using these practical criteria:

Self-hosting offers direct control over these settings but requires access to the router, firewall, and public network path. A hosted environment is practical when the home connection uses CGNAT, when the router cannot create custom UDP rules, or when you do not want to maintain the operating-system firewall. Confirm that any host you choose supports the exact UDP ports and query behavior rather than assuming every game-server plan does.
