Use comet.perplexity.ai rather than a third-party installer mirror. Perplexity’s Quick Start Guide says to download Comet there and follow the standard installation procedure; it does not give additional Windows-specific installation steps.

Before trying further checks, note which outcome you see: the download does not start, Windows blocks or warns about the installer, the installer exits with an error, installation appears to finish but no shortcut is available, or Comet opens and then closes. Record the exact error text and your Windows version. This information can help distinguish a download problem from an installation or launch problem.

- Retry from the official Comet site. If the installer did not download fully or you are unsure where it came from, download it again from comet.perplexity.ai.
- Restart Windows and try again. If installation or launch still fails, write down the step that fails and any message displayed.
- Note any Windows security prompt. Do not assume that changing a security setting, firewall rule, registry entry, or installation folder will fix the problem; the cited Comet guidance does not recommend those changes.
