To play a planned 1v1 with a friend in Call of Duty: Mobile, create a private Multiplayer room, invite them, place them on the opposing side, choose a mode and map, then start the match. The named Duel rules are a separate question: Activision’s published guide describes a best-of-three, first-to-seven format, but it dates to 2020, so check the live game’s mode and settings if they differ.
How to set up a private 1v1
- From the main screen, open Multiplayer.
- Open the options menu and choose Private to create a private room. Google Play’s guide confirms private rooms can be used for custom matches with friends (Google Play guide, reviewed October 7, 2026).
- Invite your friend, then place them in the opposing row so you are on opposite sides.
- Select an available mode and map, adjust any match options you want, and start the match. Activision’s current esports settings document the private-match controls, invitations, team placement, and mode/map selection (Activision esports settings).
The precise labels or available modes can vary with the live game build. The esports settings page is a useful guide to the room controls, not a requirement to use tournament rules for a casual duel.

What Activision’s published Duel rules say
Activision’s Duel guide, published October 5, 2020, describes a best-of-three match. Each round is won by the first player to reach seven kills. Players choose loadouts in round one; in each subsequent round, the player who lost the previous round chooses the weapon class both players use. Scorestreaks and Operator Skills are disabled, and health regeneration is active (Activision’s Duel guide).

These are the rules Activision published for Duel in that guide, not confirmation that the playlist or identical rules are available in every region or current build. If the live game offers Duel, use its displayed rules and settings as the authority.
