Choose by the support workflow
Only need incoming messages forwarded?
Consider Cloudflare Email Routing if the domain uses Cloudflare DNS and you want support@ mail delivered to an existing inbox. Cloudflare’s setup guide even uses forwarding [email protected] as an example. It describes the feature as “free email forwarding” for receiving email; it does not provide the hosted mailbox or outbound sending function. If customers must see replies from support@, arrange a separate sending service rather than assuming a forwarder can send as that address. One person will read and answer?
A Google Workspace alias can route support@ messages into one user’s primary inbox, where that person can manage them alongside their own mail. The alias itself is not a separate login or mailbox. Do not treat a single-user alias as a shared mailbox. Google administrators can configure more advanced delivery, including routing messages to multiple inboxes or split delivery, but this involves administrator-level routing rather than simply assigning the alias to several users. Decide how staff will access and reply before configuring it; the delivery route alone does not make the alias a multi-user account. Google Workspace: Set up email routing.

Zoho Mail is another hosted-domain option. Confirm the particular plan and account arrangement meet your team’s needs before setup; the available setup documentation establishes custom-domain hosting and DNS requirements, not a universal feature or price advantage over Google. What setup involves
Cloudflare Email Routing
- Use Cloudflare DNS for the domain; Email Routing requires the domain to use Cloudflare DNS.
- In Email Routing, add a destination address and verify it.
- Create a routing rule for the local part
support, sending mail to the verified destination or a Worker. - Send a test message from a different account and confirm it reaches the destination. Cloudflare says DNS changes can take up to 24 hours to propagate globally; for domains using Cloudflare DNS, it says changes usually complete in 5–15 minutes. Google Workspace
- In the Admin console, add support@ as an alternate email address (alias) for the intended user.
- Test delivery to that user’s primary inbox.
- If more than one person must access messages, choose and configure an appropriate delegation or administrator routing arrangement; an alias itself belongs to one user. Google alias instructions; Google routing instructions.
Zoho Mail
- Sign up for Zoho Mail and add the domain in its administration setup.
- Prove domain ownership using the verification method Zoho provides. You will need access to the domain’s DNS manager.
- Update the domain’s MX records to point inbound mail to Zoho, then allow the DNS change to propagate and verify delivery. Zoho Mail domain verification and setup.
DNS and migration considerations
Cloudflare Routing requires Cloudflare DNS, so it is simplest when the domain already uses Cloudflare for DNS. Zoho’s inbound setup requires changing MX records to Zoho. In either case, DNS changes affect where new mail is delivered, so plan the change around the current mail provider and test afterward. The cited setup guidance does not establish a universal migration duration or guarantee uninterrupted delivery.

There is no supported universal price winner between Google Workspace and Zoho in the provider documentation reviewed here. Prices and included features can depend on country, billing period, plan, and number of users. Compare the exact plans for your location and team size before deciding; do not compare a one-user mailbox with a multi-user setup as though they cost the same to operate. Cloudflare’s documentation describes receiving-only Email Routing as free forwarding, which should not be mistaken for the cost of a separate service needed to send from the domain.
