Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →You can deploy CloudCompare to managed Windows devices from the Intune admin center by selecting it in the Enterprise App Catalog, reviewing the prefilled package settings, and assigning it to device or user groups. Check the package version and options shown in your own tenant before creating the deployment: catalog inventory can change.
Before you start
- Confirm that your organization has Enterprise App Management licensing in addition to Intune Plan 1 or Plan 2. Microsoft offers the capability as a standalone subscription or through the Intune Suite; verify current licensing and cloud eligibility for your tenant in Microsoft’s Enterprise App Management documentation.
- Decide which groups should receive the app and whether the assignment should install it automatically, make it available for users to install, or remove it.
- CloudCompare is listed in Microsoft’s Enterprise App Catalog inventory. The exact package, version, language, and architecture displayed can change, so confirm them in the catalog while creating the deployment.
The catalog contains prepared Microsoft and non-Microsoft Windows applications for Intune. Microsoft recommends keeping the catalog’s prefilled install, requirement, and detection settings unless you have a specific, tested reason to modify them. See Microsoft’s catalog guidance.

Find and select CloudCompare
- In the Intune admin center, go to Apps > All Apps > Create.
- Choose Windows, then select Enterprise App Catalog app.
- Search for CloudCompare and select the matching catalog package. Check its displayed name, language, architecture, and version before proceeding.
A walkthrough published August 24, 2026, showed CloudCompare (x64), language en-US, version 2.13.2. That is a dated example from the walkthrough, not a promise that the same package or version is currently available in your tenant. The catalog entry shown during your own deployment is the relevant one.
Review the catalog’s package settings
After you select the package, Intune populates app information and the catalog provides install commands, requirements, and detection settings. Review the Program, Requirements, and Detection steps, but avoid changing defaults without a clear deployment need. Microsoft warns that altered install commands or custom PowerShell scripts can cause installation or updates to fail; the prepopulated catalog settings are designed to work without modification. See Microsoft’s guidance on Enterprise App Catalog apps.
#1 Best Overall
If your organization requires a change, validate the modified package and its detection behavior before broad assignment. Intune relies on detection rules to determine whether the app is installed, so an unsuitable override can lead to misleading status or failed update handling.
Choose the assignment that matches your intent
| Assignment | Use it when |
|---|---|
| Required | You want Intune to install the app for the targeted groups. |
| Available for enrolled devices | You want users to choose whether to install it through Company Portal. |
| Uninstall | You want Intune to remove the app from the selected groups. |
Select the intended assignment type, add the appropriate groups, and check the targeting carefully. Then review the configuration and choose Create. The assignment options and catalog workflow are described in Microsoft’s Enterprise App Catalog instructions.

Decide how to handle catalog updates
For a Required assignment, you can enable automatic updates so Intune can apply newer catalog versions. This reduces the need to package each catalog update manually, but it also means a newer version may be delivered without a staged rollout. Microsoft documents no rollback or automatic uninstall remediation and no staged rollout rings for this update approach. Avoid having conflicting deployment types manage the same app, since they can interfere with one another. Review Microsoft’s update and limitation details before enabling auto-update.
Microsoft’s 2026 service guidance targets 80–90% of catalog app updates for availability in the Intune portal within 24 hours of ingestion; updates that require manual validation are targeted for completion within seven days. These are service-level objectives and guidelines, not guaranteed completion times. Details are in Microsoft’s catalog update documentation.
Check deployment status
After creating the app, monitor its app and device status in Intune. The Managed Apps report can show per-device app state; consult Microsoft’s Enterprise App Management documentation for reporting details. If you assigned the app as available, users can also find it in Company Portal.
The August 24, 2026 walkthrough suggested checking after eight hours, but that is the author’s procedure, not a Microsoft-guaranteed installation or reporting window. Use the status shown in your tenant to determine whether deployment has completed or needs investigation.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the catalog listing does—and does not—establish
CloudCompare is used for visualizing and comparing dense 3D point clouds and working with triangular meshes, with uses such as surveying, archaeology, and industrial measurement described in the August 24, 2026 walkthrough. Its presence in the catalog makes it available as an Intune deployment option; it is not an assurance that the app meets your organization’s security, compliance, or operational requirements.
