A USB Bluetooth adapter adds Bluetooth connectivity to a compatible computer that lacks it; it does not make Wi-Fi or internet connections faster. Because the available evidence does not establish current models, stock, or comparative performance, there is no sound basis here to name a definitive “best” adapter. Choose by operating-system and USB compatibility, then confirm that the adapter supports the profiles your peripherals need.
What a Bluetooth USB adapter does—and what it does not do
A Bluetooth USB adapter, also called a dongle, is an external Bluetooth radio that plugs into a computer’s USB port. Microsoft describes Windows Bluetooth radios as either built into a device or packaged as external USB dongles. Microsoft’s Bluetooth host-radio documentation also covers support for radio firmware updates over USB.

Bluetooth is used to connect peripherals such as keyboards, mice, headphones, and other compatible devices. It is not a general-purpose way to improve Wi-Fi or internet speed. Although Windows supports Bluetooth networking protocols such as BNEP and PAN, a typical Bluetooth dongle should not be treated as a faster internet adapter. For faster internet, assess your Wi-Fi hardware, router, wired connection, and internet service separately.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhy there is no defensible “best” model ranking here
A product’s Bluetooth version label alone does not show whether it supports every feature or profile a particular peripheral requires. A meaningful recommendation also needs verified operating-system support, drivers, interface compatibility, current availability, and independent testing of the exact retail model. Those details—and comparative range, reliability, and speed results—are not established for a current shortlist, so naming a winner or promising faster transfers would be misleading.

One documented example is TP-Link’s UB400, which a product guide dated November 25, 2020 identifies as a Bluetooth 4.0 Nano USB Adapter. That older description establishes an example of the product category, not its present-day availability or superiority. TP-Link’s UB400 product guide is not a current comparative test.
How to choose an adapter that fits your computer and devices
1. Confirm your computer needs an adapter
Check the computer’s specifications or Bluetooth settings first. If it already has Bluetooth and works with your intended devices, an extra radio may not be necessary. If it lacks Bluetooth, or its built-in radio is unsuitable for a specific use, look for a USB Bluetooth adapter intended for your operating system.

- SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Not compatible with all other operation systems e.g. Mac, Linux, Chrome, Unix, Playstation(PS), Windows 7 and below; Disable any built-in Bluetooth of the device before use this product, refer to the user manual for detail
2. Check operating-system and USB compatibility
Verify the exact adapter’s supported operating systems, driver requirements, and USB interface against your computer. Do not infer compatibility from the word “USB” or from a Bluetooth version number; the manufacturer’s documentation for the specific retail model is what matters.
3. Match profiles and features to your peripherals
Check the Bluetooth profiles and features required by the device you want to connect. For example, audio playback and keyboard input use different Bluetooth functionality. A version label alone does not guarantee the needed profile is implemented by the adapter, operating system, and peripheral together.

- Upgraded Bluetooth 5.3 Adapter: This bluetooth adapter for pc uses the latest upgraded Bluetooth 5.3 BR+EDR technology, greatly improves the stability of the connection data transfer speed, reduces the possibility of signal interruption and power consumption.
- Up to 5 Devices Sync Connected: UGREEN Bluetooth dongle for PC supports up to 5 different types of Bluetooth devices to be connected at the same time without interfering with each other, such as Bluetooth mouse/keyboard/mobile phone/headphones, etc. If Bluetooth audio devices of the same type (such as speakers/headphones) are connected, only one device can play music.
- Plug and Play: The Bluetooth adapter is developed for Windows systems only and does not support other systems. No driver installation is required under Windows 11/10/8.1. NOTE: Win 7, Linux and MacOS System are NOT supported.
- Mini Size: An extremely compact Bluetooth stick that you can leave on your laptop or PC without removing it.The compact size does not interfere with other USB ports. Convenient to carry, no space occupation.
- What Can I do if the Bluetooth adapter can not work?: Ensure there are no other Bluetooth devices installed on the computer. If there are, disable all existing Bluetooth devices in "Device Manager", then insert the adapter and try again. (For detailed information please read the user manual)
For a concrete, version-specific reference, Microsoft’s documentation says Windows 11 version 22H2 supports Bluetooth Core Specification 5.3 and lists in-box profiles and protocols including HID, A2DP, BNEP, and PAN. This describes that Windows release—not every Windows version or every adapter. See Microsoft’s Windows Bluetooth version and profile support page, which the search result showed as updated July 15, 2025.
4. Treat range and speed claims cautiously
If range matters, look for a manufacturer specification and independent testing for the exact adapter. Walls, placement, interference, the computer, and the connected device can all affect real-world performance, so a general Bluetooth version claim is not a substitute for model-specific evidence. Do not assume a newer version number guarantees a faster file transfer or better internet connection.

When a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth combo makes sense
A combined Wi-Fi/Bluetooth adapter is an option when the computer needs both radios, but it must be evaluated as a specific product: verify its host interface, operating-system support, drivers, and the functions it provides. MediaTek documents an MT7662U chipset solution for concurrent Wi-Fi and Bluetooth over USB; that is evidence that combo designs exist, not confirmation of a particular current retail adapter. MediaTek’s MT7662U page describes the chipset solution.

If Bluetooth alone is missing, a Bluetooth-only USB dongle is the more direct category to investigate. Do not buy a combo merely to obtain faster Wi-Fi unless the exact product’s Wi-Fi capability and compatibility suit your computer and network.

Before buying: a practical checklist
- Confirm whether the computer already has working Bluetooth.
- Match the adapter to the computer’s operating system and USB interface.
- Check that the adapter, host operating system, and peripheral support the profiles and features you need.
- For a combo device, verify Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support separately for the exact retail model.
- For range, reliability, or speed priorities, seek model-specific specifications and independent tests rather than relying on version labels alone.
- Check current availability and the manufacturer’s current support information; an older product guide does not establish present stock or support status.
Sources and scope
Microsoft documents Bluetooth host radios and Windows 11 version 22H2 profile support; TP-Link’s dated guide identifies the UB400 as a Bluetooth 4.0 Nano USB Adapter; and MediaTek describes a USB Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chipset solution. The Bluetooth SIG’s specification index lists adopted specifications, including BNEP and the Internet Protocol Support Profile.
