What the JBL Bar 300MK2 includes
JBL identifies the Bar 300MK2 as a 5.0-channel all-in-one bar. Its listed package does not include a separate subwoofer or rear speakers, so the system avoids the extra boxes and wiring of a multi-piece setup. JBL promotes built-in bass ports for punchy bass without a subwoofer; that is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independently measured result.

The specification sheet lists five racetrack drivers and four tweeters. JBL gives a frequency response of 50 Hz–20 kHz (-6 dB). The spec sheet states 450 W maximum output — JBL/HARMAN, with the year of that indexed document not established. This is not an RMS rating: JBL’s product page separately lists 225 W RMS at THD 1%.
Does it deliver Dolby Atmos or surround sound?
The Bar 300MK2 supports Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X, and JBL advertises MultiBeam 3.0 processing for a wider, more immersive presentation. Those are format and processing features; the available specifications do not establish that this model has upward-firing drivers or produces discrete overhead channels. Treat Atmos here as virtualized sound from an all-in-one bar rather than a guarantee of the height effects possible from a system with dedicated overhead speakers.

JBL also lists PureVoice 2.0 for dialogue and SmartDetails. These are manufacturer feature descriptions, not independent proof of performance in every room or with every program.
Connections, video passthrough, and setup
The connection set includes one HDMI video input and one HDMI output with eARC, plus optical input, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and USB. JBL says the HDMI/eARC connection can carry uncompressed Dolby Atmos; the HDMI input is listed for 4K video passthrough and support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Check that your TV and source device support the formats and connection path you plan to use.

- For a TV-based setup: connect the bar’s HDMI output to the TV’s eARC or ARC port. eARC is the relevant connection if you want the bandwidth JBL specifies for uncompressed Atmos.
- For a connected video source: the bar’s HDMI input can accept a compatible source and pass video to the TV. Verify the source, TV, and content support the desired HDR format.
- For optical audio: an optical input is available, but use HDMI eARC when your equipment supports it and you want the specified Atmos connection.
- For USB playback: availability varies by region. JBL says USB playback is available on the US version, while USB is service-only in other versions; confirm the exact regional SKU.
The bar measures 940 × 50.5 × 104 mm (37 × 2.0 × 4.1 inches) and weighs 2.9 kg (6.5 lb). Before buying, check the available space below the TV, the stand’s height and depth, screen-leg spacing, wall clearance, and the route for power and HDMI cables.

JBL’s US listing includes a remote and two batteries, power cords (quantity varies by regional SKU), one HDMI cable, wall-mount brackets and template, a quick-start guide, and a safety/warranty card. An HDMI cable is listed in the box, so inspect the package contents for your region before buying another.

How does it compare with the Sonos Beam (Gen 2)?
In its comparison, What Hi-Fi? characterizes the JBL as bassy and room-filling, and the Sonos Beam (Gen 2) as more balanced and detailed. Those are that publication’s listening impressions, not universal results or controlled measurements established here. Use the distinction as a starting point: consider whether you prefer greater bass weight or a more balanced presentation, then weigh supported formats, HDMI and network connections, ecosystem, physical fit, and local price.
What Hi-Fi?’s June 2, 2026 deal article quotes its review team describing the JBL as an “immersive sound experience” and a “massive improvement on almost any TV’s audio.” That is a reviewer characterization; it does not establish how the bar will sound in every room.

Is the JBL Bar 300MK2 worth buying?
It makes the most sense for someone who wants a one-piece TV audio upgrade, Atmos and DTS Virtual:X support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and an HDMI input with eARC output, without setting up separate speakers. The lack of a separate subwoofer and rear speakers is part of that simplicity, but also means it is not the same kind of system as a discrete surround setup.
Price depends on region and date. JBL’s US listing appeared at $449.95 in the collected search result; What Hi-Fi? reported an Amazon UK offer of £249 on June 2, 2026. These are dated examples for different markets, not directly comparable or guaranteed current prices. Check local availability and today’s price before deciding.
