Astral Ascent’s free crossover update with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 went live on October 8, 2026. It adds three exclusive bosses, six summons, two music tracks and three rooms drawn from Expedition 33. The Expedition 33 content unlocks once you beat Astral Ascent on its base difficulty, which the game labels Destiny Level 0. The release listing names Steam, Humble, Epic Games Store, GOG, PS4/PS5 and Switch 1.
What the update adds
The crossover is developed by Hibernian Workshop, the team behind Astral Ascent, and was announced as live on the game’s official Steam news page. The event press release from Future Friends Games calls the update free. Its content counts are:

Golgra fights with kick attacks and calls in gestral allies. When she gets angry she enters a second phase, so plan for the fight to change partway through rather than ending after one pattern.

The Mimes
The Mimes attack with hammers, nails and walls. The announcement says both Mimes must be defeated almost simultaneously. If one is left standing, both revive, so you need to damage them together rather than focusing one down first.
Pétank
Pétank runs away at the start of the encounter. Once it stops retreating, it uses projectiles, clones and explosions. Expect the early part of the fight to be a chase rather than a standard exchange of attacks.

How to unlock the Expedition 33 content
The Clair Obscur content is locked until you clear Astral Ascent on base difficulty, labelled Destiny Level 0. Higher Destiny Levels are not part of the unlock condition. The update’s announcement describes the three rooms and the unlock rule; the press release confirms the same condition.

The press release lists the free update as available from October 8, 2026 on the following storefronts and platforms:
- Steam
- Humble
- Epic Games Store
- GOG
- PS4 and PS5
- Switch 1
The listing does not mention Switch 2. If you are on a Switch 2, the sources do not establish whether the update is available there, so check the Nintendo eShop listing for Astral Ascent before assuming it is included. Listing on a platform does not by itself confirm regional store availability.
What is not included
Neither the announcement nor the press release mentions a physical edition of either game, crossover merchandise, a printed guide or a physical soundtrack. The update is digital content.
