OpenAI described its initial rollout as beginning on mobile and web for logged-in Free, Go, Plus, and Pro users. A user could start it from a shopping prompt when ChatGPT suggested it, or choose it from the tools menu. OpenAI’s announcement distinguishes this deeper research flow from a quick answer to a simple price or feature question.
OpenAI’s example prompts include “Help me find costumes for my dog” and “Find the quietest cordless stick vacuum for a small apartment.” These are examples from OpenAI, not evidence about the most common requests.

How to ask ChatGPT to find or compare a product
You can describe what you need in a chat prompt. For a more tailored result, include the intended use, must-have features, constraints, and trade-offs you care about. For example, specify a quiet cordless vacuum for a small apartment rather than asking only for “a vacuum.” If ChatGPT offers shopping research, you can use the deeper flow; the exact option or interface may depend on what is available in your account.
To compare products, ask for a side-by-side comparison and name the models or criteria that matter. OpenAI documents conversational refinement and product comparisons, but results should be treated as a starting point for checking specifications and fit.
