The first Nova Ring Kickstarter campaign launched in July 2024, not now: Nova says it ended in September and deliveries followed in October. The newer campaign is for Nova S, also called Nova Smart Ring Gen 2, announced in November 2025. The word “useless” is a question, not a conclusion supported by independent testing: the available sources describe Nova’s claims and campaign figures, but do not establish the ring’s accuracy or real-world value.
Which Nova Ring campaign is this?
Nova’s company history says development began in 2022. It describes the first ring campaign launching in July 2024, mass production beginning in August, the campaign ending in September, and delivery being completed in October 2024. That is Nova’s account; its use of “global shipping” does not prove that every backer in every location received a ring.

On November 14, 2025, NOVAHUB INC announced Nova S, or Nova Smart Ring Gen 2, as a recovery-and-exertion wearable. The company said the first-generation campaign raised over $100,000, a company-reported figure rather than an independently audited result. Separately, the Gen 2 Kickstarter page displayed 262 backers and $31,851 pledged in its January 8, 2026 update. Those totals concern different campaigns and should not be conflated.
So the headline’s “launches on Kickstarter” refers to the original ring if read as a 2024 event; Nova S is the later Gen 2 campaign. A pledge total records support on Kickstarter, not a retail price, proof of performance, or a guarantee of current availability.

What does Nova say the ring tracks?
The Nova S / Gen 2 FAQ lists activity, sleep, heart rate, and blood oxygen tracking. It describes an algorithm that uses overnight physiological data to assign a Recovery Score and suggest a changing daily Exertion Goal. The FAQ’s exact description is: “Each morning, it analyzes your overnight physiological data to generate a Recovery Score (0-100).” That is Nova’s description of its algorithm, not an independent finding that the score accurately measures recovery.
Nova’s home page also advertises features including 24/7 tracking, heart-rate variability, stress analysis, menstrual-cycle tracking, sleep tracking, and wellness recommendations. These are company claims, and the available pages do not establish that every feature applies to every ring. In particular, specifications for Nova R, Nova X, Nova Pay, and Nova S should not be assumed interchangeable.

Is the Nova Ring worth it—or useless?
The available company, press-release, and campaign materials establish what Nova advertises and what its campaign pages displayed. They do not independently validate sensor accuracy, recovery scoring, health outcomes, durability in everyday use, or value compared with other smart rings. That evidence is not enough to call the ring either useless or proven effective.
Tracking measurements and presenting wellness suggestions are not the same as diagnosing a medical condition or demonstrating a health benefit. Treat the ring as a consumer wellness tracker unless stronger evidence supports a more specific claim. If your decision depends on accuracy, seek independent tests of the exact model and the specific signals or activities you care about; the cited Nova materials do not supply them.

What to check before pledging or buying
- Model and specifications: Confirm the exact model and its current product documentation. The Gen 2 FAQ lists US sizes 6–13 and claims 5ATM water resistance; those are vendor-published specifications, not independent verification. Do not transfer them to another Nova model.
- Fit and returns: Nova’s materials refer to a sizing kit and recommend checking fit. Confirm how sizing works, whether a kit is available for the offer you are considering, and the applicable return terms before paying.
- Phone compatibility: The Gen 2 FAQ lists Bluetooth pairing and iOS 13 or later or Android 8 or later. Check the current FAQ and app requirements for your phone before purchase.
- Subscription and ongoing costs: Verify the terms for the exact model and offer. The Nova X page advertises no subscription fees, but that claim should not be assumed to apply to Nova S or the original ring.
- Ownership and protection: Check current availability, shipping regions and timing, warranty and replacement coverage, and how the company handles your data. Campaign totals and older delivery statements do not answer those purchase-specific questions.
- Comparative value: Compare independently tested accuracy, tracked signals and activities, phone support, subscription cost, battery life, water-resistance terms, fit and returns, warranty, data handling, and actual price. The cited sources do not establish Nova’s ranking against competing rings.
Prices and features are model-specific: Nova’s Nova X page displayed $249 when accessed and advertises a microdisplay and no subscription fees. That is not a confirmed price or feature list for Nova S or the first-generation ring. Check the Nova X product page and the terms for the exact product you are considering.
