CaseMap+ AI is a litigation workspace for organizing case facts, documents, issues, people, and research, then turning that material into timelines, chronologies, evaluations, and other reports. Its source links and citation signals can help a team trace research, but they do not replace checking the underlying authority or evidence before relying on a proposition.
What CaseMap+ AI is designed to do
LexisNexis describes CaseMap+ AI as a centralized platform for litigation case management and analysis. Teams can organize facts, documents, people, issues, and research in a shared workspace, and search, filter, and sort those records. The broader CaseMap workflow is also intended to help teams identify information gaps in discovery, prepare reports for staff, clients, or courts, and preserve case knowledge for future work.

For a litigation team, the central value is the structure: facts and sources can be connected to the issues they bear on rather than left scattered across documents, notes, and individual work files. The platform can support analysis and reporting; it does not make a legal conclusion reliable merely because the information appears in a structured workspace.

How to keep research traceable in CaseMap
CaseMap+ supports research records from Lexis sources and non-Lexis websites. A useful record preserves enough context for another team member to locate and assess the material, not just a proposition copied from it.

For a non-Lexis web source
The support workflow allows a user to record a source title and URL, identify the host or source if desired, select a research type, set the document date, and add context, quotations, and tags. The user can connect the research to one or more case issues. The record can open the linked web source, while connected issues, tags, and quotations remain visible on the research card. See the LexisNexis instructions for adding research.
For Lexis-linked research
A user can add a legal citation and, when compatible information is available, CaseMap can populate the title, source, and date from Lexis. Some compatible citations display a Shepard Signal. LexisNexis states, “Not all citations are available in Lexis or Lexis+.” It also distinguishes citations added through other means: those are not automatically checked in the same way. The LexisNexis citation workflow guidance explains the supported process and its limits.

A practical recordkeeping sequence
- Preserve the source: enter the citation or the exact web address and source details so a reviewer can return to the material.
- Record the date and context: retain the document date and note why the source matters to the case.
- Connect it to an issue: associate the research with the legal issue it is intended to inform.
- Keep the relevant quotation: capture the pertinent language with enough context to verify it against the original.
- Verify before relying: open the underlying authority or evidence and confirm that it supports the proposition and remains applicable.
A citation indicator or a linked source is a verification aid, not proof that every statement in a report follows from the cited passage. The reviewer remains responsible for checking the text, context, and relevance of the authority.
What AI summaries can—and cannot—establish
LexisNexis says CaseMap+ AI generates topical summaries of documents and transcripts. Its product page states: “CaseMap+ AI generates topical summaries of documents and transcripts, identifying key facts, entities, and issues.” The vendor says transcript analysis can surface those items for review and allow users to convert insights into case Facts. It describes summaries as editable and intended for review and refinement, and says customer data is not used to train AI models. These are LexisNexis product statements, not independent audit findings.
Rank #3
Use a summary to find material worth examining, organize a large record, or identify candidate facts and issues. Before putting a proposition into a filing, advice, or client report, inspect the source document or transcript, confirm the surrounding context, and make the legal assessment yourself. An editable summary can be corrected; editability alone does not validate its contents.
Reports, integrations, and adjacent trial work
The current product page describes reports for timelines, fact chronologies, and evaluations, including heatmaps. LexisNexis also names integrations with iManage and RelativityOne for sending documents and metadata into CaseMap+ AI. Whether those connections fit a particular organization depends on its existing systems and workflow; the listed integrations are not evidence of a comparative performance advantage.
Rank #4
Sanction is identified as a related tool for managing exhibits and presenting evidence in live depositions or at trial. That is an adjacent presentation workflow, distinct from CaseMap’s case analysis and research organization.

Evaluate the platform against the work your team actually needs to coordinate. Useful decision points include:
Best Value
- Research sources: whether your workflow needs both Lexis-linked research and records for external web sources.
- Traceability: whether source metadata, dates, quotations, tags, and issue relationships are important to reviewing and handing off work.
- Case structure: whether connecting facts, documents, people, issues, and research will improve how your team analyzes and reports on a matter.
- Document volume and review: whether topical summaries of documents and transcripts are useful, given the need for lawyers to inspect the source material.
- Existing systems: whether the named document-management or e-discovery integrations align with your organization’s setup.
- Output and trial needs: whether the reporting described for timelines, chronologies, and evaluations addresses your needs, and whether exhibit presentation is a separate requirement.
- Cost and procurement: confirm licensing, implementation, and organizational fit directly with LexisNexis. Its product page says pricing is provided by quote based on organizational requirements.
These are workflow questions, not a basis for declaring one product universally superior. The official product and support pages describe capabilities, but do not provide an independent comparative test.
CaseMap availability and product naming
LexisNexis currently presents CaseMap+ AI as its centralized litigation case-management and analysis platform. Its downloads page also lists desktop CaseMap versions alongside other CaseMap Suite software. The listing shows software availability; it does not establish that every feature described for CaseMap+ AI is available in every desktop version. Check the specific edition and current terms with LexisNexis before procurement.
