No. enRAGE is a PC mod for Red Dead Redemption 2 Story Mode, not Red Dead Online. Its creator explicitly labels it “Story Mode only” and warns: “Never use Script Hook in Red Dead Online.” Before connecting to Online, disable the mod loader and enRAGE files, then launch an unmodified game.
The short answer

When you want to play Red Dead Online, close the game, turn off the mod loader and related scripts, and start a clean, unmodified installation. Do not attempt to leave Script Hook active and switch into Online.

enRAGE is designed as a living-world and nemesis system for the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2. Instead of treating every non-player character as disposable background activity, the mod’s description gives characters names, temper, histories, relationships and memories of what the player has done.

A persistent world history
The author describes outlaw groups and the U.S. Army as organizations that can pursue leaders, supplies and territory. Rivalries, feuds, wars and peace agreements can develop without being limited to a single scripted encounter. Events are recorded in a living chronicle, and each save maintains its own nemeses, outfits, wars and history.
Designed to stay out of missions
According to the author, “enRAGE works around the story. During missions it stays out of the way.” That means its systems are intended to operate around the campaign rather than rewrite the main mission flow. This is a design statement from the mod page, not an independent compatibility test, so an early-access build can still contain bugs or unexpected interactions.
Why it cannot be used in Red Dead Online
Script Hook is the decisive restriction
enRAGE depends on ScriptHookRDR2 and ScriptHookRDR2DotNet V2. Those components load custom code into the PC game. The creator specifically prohibits using Script Hook in Red Dead Online, so installing the dependency is not permission to try the mod in multiplayer.

Modified files can prevent a clean Online launch
A community mod catalog warns that modified files may disable Red Dead Online and can redirect an attempted connection to Story Mode. That warning reinforces the safe separation: do not rely on the game to ignore enRAGE automatically. Make the installation clean yourself before connecting.
This is a compatibility rule, not a feature limitation you can bypass
There is no supported “Online mode” switch for enRAGE. Changing a menu setting, loading a different save or trying to start Online through the same modded process does not make Script Hook safe. The author’s instruction is to never use Script Hook in Online.

What you need for the supported setup
- A PC copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 with Story Mode available.
- ScriptHookRDR2 installed in the game’s folder.
- ScriptHookRDR2DotNet V2 version 2.2.0 or newer.

- A plan for switching back to an unmodified installation before opening Online.

- Install Script Hook in the game folder. Copy the Script Hook loader files to the main Red Dead Redemption 2 installation directory as directed by the Script Hook documentation.
- Install the .NET component. Add ScriptHookRDR2DotNet V2 version 2.2.0 or newer, using the required folder and files for that dependency.
- Add enRAGE’s scripts. Place the mod’s script files in the location specified by its installation notes. Keep a backup of the original files or record exactly what you added so you can restore a clean launch.
- Start a Story Mode save. The author’s instructions call for loading a Story Mode save after the files are in place. Do not use this setup as a route into Red Dead Online.
- Use the documented controls. F11 opens the enRAGE menu, Tab changes hierarchy, world and X-ray views, and I starts interrogation. These controls come from the author’s controls section and can change in later releases.
How to switch safely from enRAGE to Red Dead Online
Use a deliberate stop-and-clean process rather than relying on a menu choice inside the game.
- Exit the game completely. Close Story Mode and wait for the game process and launcher activity to finish.
- Disable the mod loader. Remove, rename or move the Script Hook loader files according to the loader’s installation instructions. Do the same for enRAGE’s script files. Moving them to a clearly labeled backup folder is safer than deleting files you may need for Story Mode.
- Restore the unmodified game setup. The game directory should contain the original files expected by your installation, with no active Script Hook or enRAGE scripts. If you made a backup before modding, restore that backup.
- Launch the unmodified game. Start the game through its normal launcher and confirm that you are using the clean installation before selecting Red Dead Online.
- Reconnect only after the clean launch. If the loader or mod scripts are still active, stop and clean the installation rather than testing whether Online will accept them.
- Restore enRAGE only after leaving Online. When you want to return to the mod, exit Online and the game first, then put the backed-up Story Mode files back in place.
Keeping separate, clearly labeled modded and unmodified file sets reduces the chance of accidentally carrying a Story Mode loader into an Online session. It also gives you a straightforward recovery path if a game update changes compatibility.
Common problems and what they mean
Online will not connect or sends you back to Story Mode
Check for leftover Script Hook files, enRAGE scripts or other modified files in the game directory. Close the launcher, restore the clean file set and start again. A redirect to Story Mode is a sign to clean the installation, not an invitation to try another Online launch with the loader enabled.

F11, Tab or I does nothing in Story Mode
Those controls are provided for enRAGE’s Story Mode interface. If they do not respond, verify that you launched a Story Mode save, that the mod scripts are in the correct location and that both required Script Hook components meet the stated version requirement. Do not troubleshoot by opening Online with Script Hook active.

The game crashes after an update
Version 0.9.4 is identified as early access and was last updated October 17, 2026. A game, Script Hook or .NET update can break an early-access script. Recheck the mod page for a compatible release, reproduce the problem in Story Mode only and provide the log files requested by the author when reporting a bug.
You want to keep your campaign and Online progress separate
Use the mod only with Story Mode saves and maintain a clean installation for Online. The author says each save keeps its own enRAGE nemeses, outfits, wars and history, so avoid treating an enRAGE-created world state as part of the Online environment.

The listing identifies enRAGE 0.9.4 as an early-access release uploaded and last updated October 17, 2026. Early access means compatibility and behavior can change as the author fixes bugs. Before installing after a game or loader update, check the current release notes and requirements rather than assuming the older file set remains valid.
The author asks users to submit bug reports with log files. Include those logs when reporting a Story Mode problem, while identifying the game version and the Script Hook versions you installed.
