Not reliably in unmodded Skyrim. The available community advice conflicts, and a spouse’s death is not established as a guaranteed reset that lets you marry again. On PC, players have posted console commands to reset marriage-related quest state; mods offer explicit remarriage or multiple-marriage features. Back up your save before changing quest state, and check platform and mod compatibility.
Does a spouse’s death let you remarry in vanilla Skyrim?
Do not assume it does. Community answers disagree about whether a spouse’s death alone makes another marriage possible, and the available sources do not include primary game documentation that settles the question. In particular, wearing an Amulet of Mara again is not a dependable fix if the game still considers the marriage quest complete. The community discussion includes both conflicting claims and a PC command-based workaround, rather than a reliably documented in-game reset.

PC: a community-posted console workaround
A Stack Exchange answer describes resetting marriage-related faction and quest state through the console. It recommends selecting the deceased spouse, then entering the following commands:
removefac 51596player.removefac C6472resetquest 74793resetquest 21382setstage 74793 10
The answer then advises waiting 24 hours before trying again. These are community instructions, not an official Bethesda-supported procedure. Command recipes differ between online sources, and quest-state changes can cause problems. Make a separate backup save first, and verify that the commands suit your game version and situation. The cited console-command remedy is for PC; the available sources do not establish an equivalent workaround for console players.

Mods: features designed for remarriage
Two Nexus Mods listings describe mods that add options beyond the base game:
- Marriage Mod – To Have And To Hold describes remarriage mechanics and marriage-related fixes. Its page warns that the Special Edition conversion is untested.
- Multiple Marriages SSE describes support for multiple marriages and clearing marriage or housing slots when a spouse dies.
These are mod features, not vanilla behavior. Before installing, check the listing’s current version, dependencies, load-order guidance, game edition, platform, and compatibility with your other mods.

How marriage normally starts
In the ordinary marriage process, you speak with Maramal at the Temple of Mara in Riften and use an Amulet of Mara. A Skyrim marriage guide covers that process. It does not establish that the same steps become available a second time after a spouse dies.

Bethesda’s December 5, 2023 Creations update notes say players can browse and download community-made content through the in-game Creations menu. That general feature does not confirm that either marriage mod is available there or works on every platform.
