You can cancel an eligible purchase within 24 hours only if you have not used or equipped the item. After that, a Return Ticket may cover an eligible purchase made within the last 30 days. Battle Pass rewards are not eligible for either option, and real-money purchases use a separate refund process.
Which Fortnite skins can you return?
Start by identifying how the skin was obtained. Fortnite’s in-game Cancel Purchase and Return Ticket tools are for eligible Item Shop purchases made with V-Bucks—not every cosmetic on your account.

Epic’s [V-Bucks Item Shop refund guidance] lists exclusions that include gifts, Passes and Pass levels, Premium Reward Tracks, Level Up Quest Packs, certain Save the World items, developer-made island purchases, and cosmetic bundles. Categories can have item-specific rules, so check the live guidance and the eligibility shown for the purchase you select.

What are the time limits and Return Ticket rules?
Within 24 hours: Cancel Purchase
Epic allows an eligible Item Shop purchase to be canceled for up to 24 hours after purchase, provided the cosmetic has not been used or equipped in any game mode. The item is removed and the V-Bucks are credited back. Each item can be canceled once. If you equipped or used it during that period, Cancel Purchase is unavailable; a Return Ticket may still be an option if the purchase otherwise qualifies.
#1 Best Overall
- Redeemable on accounts in the United States and in U.S. Dollars.
- Gift card must be redeemed at EpicGames.com/redeem. This gift card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly on a console device (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, etc.)
- If you play Fortnite experiences on a console device, you need to link your Epic Games account to your console account(s) so items purchased at Fortnite.com/item-shop appear across all of your linked accounts
- Requires internet connection, valid Epic account and prior acceptance of the terms
- Redemption: Online
After 24 hours: Return Ticket
A Return Ticket may be used for an eligible purchase made within the previous 30 days. Each account starts with three tickets, earns one every 365 days while below the maximum, and can hold no more than three at a time. Epic support says it cannot grant extra tickets once the cancellation window has passed and no tickets remain.
Bundle and finality rules
If the purchase was a bundle, the entire bundle must be returned together; this process does not offer a partial bundle refund. Once a cosmetic refund is completed, Epic says it cannot be reversed and the item cannot be restored. Review the selected item and confirmation screen carefully before submitting.

How to cancel or return an eligible V-Bucks purchase
In Fortnite
- Open the Player Icon menu and choose Support and Refunds, or open Settings → Account and Privacy, depending on the menu version.
- Choose the return or cancel purchase option and select the purchase you want to review.
- Check the item, eligibility, and displayed V-Bucks credit before confirming.
On the web Item Shop
- Sign in to the official Fortnite Item Shop.
- Open the Player Icon menu and select Return and Cancel Purchases.
- Choose Show Purchases, then select the eligible item.
- Review the selection and displayed V-Bucks refund, then confirm if you want to proceed.
Epic may change menu labels. If these paths do not match your client, use the current in-game Support and Refunds or Account and Privacy route. The return screen is the place to verify the specific purchase before committing.

- It was earned through a Battle Pass. Battle Pass rewards are unlocked through gameplay and are not eligible purchases.
- The timing does not qualify. Cancel Purchase is limited to 24 hours, while a Return Ticket applies to eligible purchases from the prior 30 days.
- You have no Return Ticket available. Tickets are capped at three, and support says it cannot add one after the cancellation window when your balance is zero.
- The item or transaction type is excluded. Gifts, certain passes and packs, cosmetic bundles, and developer-made island purchases are among Epic’s listed exclusions.
- You used or equipped the item during the first 24 hours. That blocks Cancel Purchase, although a Return Ticket may remain possible if other requirements are met.
- The screen reports an error. Epic says the message “There was an error processing your request. Your Return Tickets items and V-Bucks were not changed” can indicate that the selected item is ineligible. Check the conditions in Epic’s return error help article.
How refunds work for real-money purchases
A cash purchase is separate from a V-Bucks Item Shop return. If Epic processed the payment, follow Epic’s purchase refund instructions. If a console platform or another third-party storefront processed it, use that seller’s refund process. The correct route and eligibility depend on where the transaction was made.
Rank #3
- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
- Redemption: Online
Can some cosmetics be refunded without a ticket?
Epic says certain specific cosmetics may sometimes have an item-specific, tokenless refund option in special circumstances. It is not a general entitlement and Epic does not promise to provide one on request. Check the options shown for that item; do not assume support can issue a ticket-free refund. See Epic’s tokenless refund guidance.
