Yes. PlayStation says each Uncharted game is designed as a standalone adventure, so you can start with any entry. Earlier games are optional, but they add context to the series’ evolving story and its returning characters.
Do you need to play Uncharted in order?
No. PlayStation’s official UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection FAQ says: “While the series does have continuity, each game is meant to be a standalone adventure and can be enjoyed without playing any of the other games in the series.” Asked which game to play first, PlayStation’s answer is: “Whichever one you’d like.”

What if you start with The Lost Legacy?
You can play it without the earlier games, but Chloe Frazer has history in the series. PlayStation identifies Uncharted 2: Among Thieves as her first appearance and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception as her last appearance before The Lost Legacy. Starting with The Lost Legacy means meeting her without that earlier character background; the official FAQ still treats the game as a standalone adventure.

Which order should you choose?
- Want to jump straight into a game that interests you? Start there. PlayStation says you can choose whichever game you like.
- Want the original trilogy’s character context? Start with Drake’s Fortune in The Nathan Drake Collection, then continue through Among Thieves and Drake’s Deception.
- Most interested in Uncharted 4 or The Lost Legacy? Begin with Legacy of Thieves Collection. Treat the older games as optional background, not required homework.
