No. Synth Riders DLC tracks are add-ons, not standalone games. You must own and install the Synth Riders base game on the same platform or storefront where you intend to play, then purchase the music pack or other DLC for that version.
Why the DLC cannot run by itself
A downloadable-content (DLC) purchase grants extra content for an existing game entitlement. It does not include the playable Synth Riders application. The base game supplies the program that launches, handles VR input, displays the menus and loads songs; a music pack supplies additional tracks that the installed game can recognize.

The PlayStation Store lists Synth Riders as a base game and labels individual music products, including the Linkin Park and Lady Gaga packs, as “Add-On Pack.” Steam lists Synth Riders as a “VR Only” game and presents DLC through the game’s listing, including an “Add all DLC to Cart” option. Neither listing treats a song pack as an independent game.

The PlayStation Store listing gives the clearest numerical breakdown. Its base-game description says “Base Game Including 81 Songs.” The same listing describes “22 optional DLCs adding 8 visually stunning Experiences™ & 127 songs.” Those figures describe the PlayStation product page checked on October 19, 2026; prices, bundles and the number or contents of packs can change.

What happens if you buy only a song pack?
If you purchase a DLC pack without owning Synth Riders, you have paid for an add-on entitlement but still lack the application needed to play it. The pack does not replace the base game, create a separate launcher or supply a general-purpose music player. Buying a compatible headset, controllers or a PC capable of VR does not change that: those are enabling hardware, not a game license.
The practical result is that you should treat the base game as a prerequisite. Once it is installed, the game can use any compatible DLC attached to the same platform account. Without that base installation, there is no supported Synth Riders environment in which the tracks can load.
Buying Synth Riders on PlayStation
1. Identify the base-game product
Open the Synth Riders product page in the PlayStation Store on the account and console you plan to use. Confirm that you are viewing the base game, whose listing says “Base Game Including 81 Songs,” rather than an individual add-on.
2. Purchase and install the base game
Complete the base-game purchase and download it to the PlayStation system connected to your compatible VR setup. Launching the game once is a useful check that the application and headset configuration work before you spend money on optional packs.
3. Choose the desired add-on
From the Synth Riders store page, open its add-ons or related-content area. Select the music pack you want and check that the product is labeled “Add-On Pack.” The listing’s wording distinguishes this purchase from the base game.

4. Download the DLC
Finish the add-on purchase and install it through the PlayStation content controls. If the pack is not downloaded automatically, open the game’s add-on management area and start its download there.
5. Confirm it in the game
Start Synth Riders after the download completes and look for the purchased songs in the music-selection screen. If they remain unavailable, follow the troubleshooting checks below before buying the pack again.

1. Check the game listing
Open the Synth Riders page in Steam while signed in to the account that will use the game. Steam identifies the title as “VR Only,” so plan to play it with compatible VR hardware connected to the computer.
2. Add the base game to your library
Purchase and install Synth Riders itself. The Steam page’s DLC controls are attached to this game listing; they are not a substitute for adding the game to your library.
3. Select individual packs or the full DLC set
Use the DLC section on the game page to choose particular music packs, or use Steam’s “Add all DLC to Cart” option when you intentionally want the complete listed set. Review the cart so you know whether you are buying one pack or every available add-on.

4. Let Steam install the purchased content
After checkout, confirm that the selected DLC is enabled in Steam’s content-management controls for Synth Riders and allow any downloads to finish. The game must be closed or restarted if Steam was still applying the content while it was running.
5. Open the VR game and check the song list
Launch Synth Riders from the Steam library with the VR system ready. Purchased tracks should be presented as additional content within the game, not as a second application in your library.
Can a PlayStation purchase be used on Steam, or vice versa?
Do not assume cross-buy or cross-progression. A PlayStation Store purchase and a Steam purchase are separate storefront entitlements unless the relevant product page explicitly promises portability. The available listings establish that the content is attached to each platform’s game listing, but they do not establish a universal transfer policy.
For a multi-platform household, plan on buying the base game and any desired packs on each platform where you will play. Before checkout, verify which account is signed in and which headset or console will be used. A pack bought for one storefront should not be counted as ownership on another storefront simply because the song title is the same.
Hardware, software and account requirements
- Base-game entitlement: You need Synth Riders itself on the chosen storefront.

The pack was purchased but is still locked
- Confirm that the purchase completed on the account currently signed in.
- Check the platform’s installed-content or DLC-management screen and make sure the pack is selected for installation.
- Wait for the download to finish, then restart Synth Riders.
- Verify that the base game is installed on the same platform and that the game has completed any available update.
- If the storefront still shows ownership but the game does not, use that platform’s standard license-restoration or content-refresh function before contacting support.
The game launches, but only the original songs are visible
Separate the three possibilities: the DLC may not have been purchased, it may be purchased but not installed, or it may belong to a different storefront account. Check the pack’s ownership status first, then its installation status. Do not repurchase it until both have been verified.
You changed platforms
A purchase made on PlayStation should not be expected to appear in Steam, and a Steam purchase should not be expected to unlock a PlayStation copy. Recheck the platform-specific library and the account used for checkout. The listings supplied for this topic do not promise cross-platform DLC access.
You bought the wrong item
Read the product type before checkout. “Base Game Including 81 Songs” identifies the PlayStation base product, while “Add-On Pack” identifies an optional pack. On Steam, ensure that you have added Synth Riders itself rather than only an item from its DLC section.

Your choice depends on how much content you want, not on whether the packs can run independently. Buying one add-on is sensible when you want a particular artist or song collection. Buying the complete set is a convenience option when you want every pack offered on that storefront and have checked the cart’s contents.
