Sony’s published DualSense information describes it as a PS5 controller and lists compatibility with PS5, PC, Mac, and mobile devices—not PS6. Sony has not substantiated a product officially called “DualSense 2.0” or compatibility between a DualSense controller and PS6 games in the official pages cited here.
Why a controller cannot replace a PS6
A game must run on a device with the software and hardware needed to execute it. A controller is an input device: it sends button presses and other controls to a host, such as a console or compatible computer. On its own, a DualSense controller cannot launch or run a console game.

Streaming does not change that. Sony’s PlayStation Direct page describes Remote Play as streaming games from a PS4 or PS5 console to a supported device. In that setup, the host console runs the game; the controller does not. PlayStation Direct’s DualSense listing describes this Remote Play arrangement.

Sony presents the DualSense wireless controller as a controller for PS5 and lists connections to PS5, PC, Mac, and mobile devices. The published compatibility information on Sony’s DualSense product page does not list PS6.

What Sony’s PS5-games statement does—and does not—mean
Sony’s support page says, “PS5 games can only be played with DualSense wireless controllers.” That statement is explicitly about PS5 games. It is not a compatibility promise for PS6 games, and it does not imply that a controller can run a game without a console or other supported host. Read Sony’s PS5 compatibility guidance.

Is “DualSense 2.0” an official product?
The official Sony pages cited here do not substantiate a controller formally named “DualSense 2.0,” nor do they provide PS6 release, game, or controller-compatibility details. Treat both the product name and any claimed PS6 compatibility as unverified unless Sony publishes official confirmation. The absence of details on these pages is not proof that no future announcement will be made.

What to do if you want to play a future PS6 game
- Wait for Sony to publish official PS6 console, game, and controller compatibility information.
- Check whether the game runs locally on a supported console or is streamed from a supported host; streaming still requires that host.
- Do not buy a controller described as “DualSense 2.0” on the assumption that it is an official product or will support PS6 games without confirmation.
