Windows 11 does not have a documented setting for choosing when or how often diagnostic data uploads. Microsoft documents controls for the amount and types of diagnostic data Windows collects—not a user-selected upload schedule. You can change the diagnostic-data preference in Settings, or administrators can manage supported policies through Group Policy or MDM.
Change diagnostic-data settings in Windows 11
To review the diagnostic-data options on an individual PC, open Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Diagnostics & feedback. Choose the available diagnostic-data option there. Microsoft’s guidance describes this as a data-collection preference, not an upload-frequency control. See Microsoft Support’s Diagnostics & feedback guidance.

If an option is unavailable, the PC may be managed by a workplace or other organization. In that case, the organization’s policies can determine which settings you can change.

Windows 11 uses the terms Required diagnostic data and Optional diagnostic data. Do not look for the older Enhanced setting: Microsoft says it is not available on Windows 11 and has been replaced by policies that control the amount of optional diagnostic data sent. The change concerns the level of data, not its upload schedule. See Microsoft’s guide to configuring Windows diagnostic data in an organization.

Manage diagnostic data on organization devices
Administrators can manage Windows diagnostic data through supported policy settings. These govern the data level or limit particular diagnostic payloads; Microsoft’s documentation does not describe them as controls for setting an upload interval.
Group Policy
In Group Policy, the documented location is Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Data Collection and Preview Builds. The Allow diagnostic data policy configures the diagnostic-data level.

Mobile device management
For MDM-managed devices, Microsoft documents the System/AllowTelemetry policy for controlling the level of diagnostic data.
Limit diagnostic logs and dumps
Microsoft also documents System/LimitDumpCollection and System/LimitDiagnosticLogCollection to limit collection of dumps and diagnostic logs. Microsoft lists these two policies as available only on Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022. They limit the kinds of data collected; they do not set a schedule. Policy details and scope are in Microsoft’s organization guide.

Separate troubleshooting instructions describe enabling optional diagnostic data with the Allow Diagnostic Data Group Policy and managing the diagnostic-data opt-in interface. Those instructions concern data level and user choice, not upload timing. See Microsoft’s diagnostic-data settings troubleshooting guidance.

Windows feedback settings are separate from diagnostic-data controls. Microsoft Support discusses a feedback-frequency setting, but that does not establish or configure how often Windows diagnostic data uploads. Likewise, Microsoft documents diagnostic-data endpoints for different purposes: its settings endpoint is used for remote configuration and does not upload Windows diagnostic data. Do not treat that endpoint as an upload destination. See Microsoft’s Windows endpoint guidance.

Scope of these controls
The organization policies discussed here concern Windows operating-system components. Third-party apps and other Microsoft apps may have separate privacy and diagnostic-data controls; changing Windows settings does not necessarily change those apps’ behavior.
