Restart from the power menu when the screen responds
- Press and hold the Power button for a few seconds until the power menu appears.
- Tap Restart.
- Confirm the restart if prompted.

Force restart a frozen or unresponsive phone
If the phone is not responding or will not turn off normally, press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds or longer. Huawei describes this as a force restart. This is a restart procedure, not the factory-reset option.
If holding Power does not work
For devices running EMUI 11.0 and later, Huawei documents an alternative: press and hold Power and Volume down together for more than 10 seconds when Power alone does not restart the phone. This combination is not established as universal across all Huawei models or software. Check support guidance for your exact model if it does not work. If the screen is black or the phone seems dead
- Connect the phone to a standard charger for more than 30 minutes. Huawei notes that the battery may have run out.
- After charging, try turning the phone on again.
- If it remains unresponsive, use the force-restart method appropriate to your model and software.
Huawei does not specify a connector or charger wattage in this troubleshooting guidance, so check your handset’s charging requirements before choosing a charger. Huawei UK: Black screen, freezing, or automatic restarts
Check buttons and Fastboot if the phone enters the wrong screen
If button presses take the phone to Fastboot instead of restarting it, remove the case and check whether it is pressing a button. Huawei also identifies accidental or stuck Power and Volume button presses as possible causes. If a button appears stuck, avoid repeatedly forcing the same combination and consult support for your model.

When to contact Huawei service
If charging and the relevant force-restart steps do not resolve the issue, back up data first if the phone becomes usable, then take the device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Centre. Huawei also notes that a phone that rings or vibrates during startup while its display stays black may have a faulty screen. The support guidance does not promise that unsaved app work will be preserved by a restart.
