Yes for music, but not directly for video. An iPhone can send audio to compatible LG Sound Suite speakers with AirPlay 2, while Android can send music from Google Cast-enabled apps. Both phones can use Bluetooth. Sound Suite speakers are audio endpoints, however: the LG H7 soundbar connects to a television through HDMI eARC and has no HDMI input for video pass-through. To watch phone video, cast or mirror the phone to a compatible TV or display, then let the TV send sound to the Sound Suite system.
What each phone can send to Sound Suite
The casting method depends on the phone and the destination. The table separates direct audio playback from video casting, which requires a separate display.

| Phone and method | Direct destination | What you can play | Requirements and limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone with AirPlay 2 | Compatible Sound Suite M5, M7 or H7 configuration that appears as an AirPlay speaker | Music and other AirPlay-capable audio | iOS 11.4 or later; phone and speaker on the same Wi-Fi network; the app must expose AirPlay |
| Android with Google Cast | Sound Suite speaker shown by a Cast-enabled app | Music from Cast-enabled apps | Phone and speaker on the same Wi-Fi network; the app must support Google Cast |
| iPhone or Android with Bluetooth | Paired Sound Suite speaker | Audio from virtually any phone app | Bluetooth range and pairing are required; this is a fallback when Wi-Fi casting is unavailable |
| iPhone or Android video casting | Compatible TV or display, not the Sound Suite speaker itself | Video plus display audio | Use AirPlay to a compatible TV or a Chromecast/Google TV display, then route TV audio to Sound Suite |
How to AirPlay music from an iPhone
Before you start
- Use a Sound Suite model and system configuration that supports AirPlay 2.
- Update the iPhone to iOS 11.4 or later, the minimum version specified for AirPlay control.
- Connect the iPhone and the Sound Suite speaker to the same Wi-Fi network. A guest network, extender network or separate VLAN can prevent discovery even when both devices have internet access.
- If the speaker is part of a grouped Stereo Pairing or Dolby Atmos FlexConnect arrangement, temporarily return it to standalone speaker mode if it does not appear.
Start playback from an app
- Open Apple Music or another audio app that provides an AirPlay control, and start a song.
- Tap the AirPlay icon in the app’s playback screen.
- Select the compatible LG Sound Suite speaker from the list of destinations.
- Adjust volume from the app, the iPhone’s volume controls or the speaker, depending on the controls exposed by that app.
Use Control Center instead
- Start audio on the iPhone.
- Open Control Center by swiping down from the upper-right corner on a Face ID iPhone, or swiping up from the bottom on an older Home-button model.
- Press the audio playback card, tap the AirPlay icon, and choose the Sound Suite speaker.
LG’s guidance is explicit that “this product and your iOS device” must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. AirPlay behavior is app-dependent: an app that does not expose AirPlay cannot be forced to use it from its own interface, although system audio may still offer an output choice in some cases.

Set up the network
- Connect the Android phone and the Sound Suite device to the same Wi-Fi network and confirm that the speaker is powered on.
- Open a music app that supports Google Cast.
- Start a track, then look for the Cast button, normally a rectangle with radiating Wi-Fi lines.
- Tap Cast and select the Sound Suite speaker. The app should show the speaker as the playback destination.
LG says the H7 can play music from “hundreds of Google Cast-enabled apps” on a phone, tablet or laptop. Google Cast transfers control to the app and speaker, so you can often leave the phone free for other tasks while playback continues. The exact controls and whether an app supports queueing or multi-room playback are set by that app and its Cast implementation.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Use Android’s output switcher when available
On Android versions that provide a media output switcher, open the notification shade while audio is playing, tap the current output or media-player control, and choose the Cast speaker. This is useful when the music app does not show a prominent Cast button, but it still requires a Cast-compatible app and a discoverable speaker.
Bluetooth: the universal audio fallback
Bluetooth does not depend on AirPlay or Google Cast support in the app. It is useful for podcasts, games, locally stored files and services that do not expose a casting control.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
- Put the Sound Suite speaker into Bluetooth pairing mode using its input or pairing control.
- On the phone, open Settings, then Bluetooth (Android) or Settings, then Bluetooth (iPhone).
- Enable Bluetooth and select the LG Sound Suite model when it appears in the device list.
- Accept the pairing request, return to the audio app and press Play.
Bluetooth sends the phone’s audio stream to the speaker rather than handing playback to a network device. Keep the phone within normal Bluetooth range, and remember that phone calls, notification sounds and system audio can also be routed to the speaker.

Not as a direct video receiver. The H7 is documented as a soundbar that connects to a TV through HDMI eARC and “does not include an HDMI input for direct video pass-through.” A speaker can therefore reproduce the soundtrack, but it does not provide a screen, HDMI video input or a general-purpose phone-video destination.

Recommended iPhone setup
- Use AirPlay to send the video to an AirPlay-compatible TV or display, if the app and TV support it.
- Connect that TV to the H7 through HDMI eARC, or use another TV-to-speaker connection supported by the equipment.
- Select the TV’s external audio output if the television does not switch automatically.
Recommended Android setup
- Cast the video from a compatible app to a Chromecast or Google TV display, or use the display’s built-in Cast receiver.
- Connect the display to the H7 over HDMI eARC.
- Start playback on the phone and verify that the TV, rather than the H7, is selected as the video destination.
This topology keeps the video path and audio path in their proper roles: the TV or streaming display renders the picture, while the Sound Suite system handles the sound. If an app blocks AirPlay or Google Cast, its own compatibility rules still apply; the H7 cannot bypass that restriction.
Wi-Fi casting versus Bluetooth
| Consideration | AirPlay 2 or Google Cast over Wi-Fi | Bluetooth |
|---|---|---|
| Best use | Music apps with network playback and integrated controls | Any phone audio, including apps without casting |
| Discovery | Requires phone and speaker on the same Wi-Fi network | Requires one-time Bluetooth pairing and nearby devices |
| Phone control | AirPlay or Cast controls appear in the app or system output controls | Phone remains the source for the entire audio stream |
| Video | Targets a compatible TV/display; the speaker remains audio-only | Audio only; no video transport |
| Published quality figures | Sound Suite supports up to 24-bit/96 kHz high-resolution playback; Apple Music over AirPlay 2 is specified at up to 16-bit/44.1 kHz | Codec and quality depend on the phone and speaker’s Bluetooth implementation; no Sound Suite Bluetooth figure is stated here |
The 24-bit/96 kHz figure is LG’s published maximum for Sound Suite high-resolution playback, not a guarantee that every app, stream or wireless protocol will deliver that rate. LG’s current information specifies Apple Music through AirPlay 2 at up to 16-bit/44.1 kHz, so a high-resolution source does not automatically retain its original format over AirPlay.

Why the speaker is missing from the phone’s list
Check the network first
- Confirm the phone’s Wi-Fi name and the speaker’s Wi-Fi network are the same, not merely connected to the same router’s internet service.
- Turn off a phone VPN temporarily if it isolates local-device discovery.
- Avoid guest Wi-Fi networks that block communication between clients.
- Restart the phone, speaker and router if the network was recently changed.
Check the speaker’s operating mode
LG documents AirPlay and Google Cast support in standalone speaker mode. A speaker assigned to a Stereo Pairing or Dolby Atmos FlexConnect group may not be individually discoverable. Disconnect or dissolve the group, wait for the speaker to return to standalone operation, and search again.
Check software and app support
- On iPhone, verify iOS 11.4 or later and use an app that actually exposes AirPlay.
- On Android, verify that the app has a Cast button or appears in the system media output switcher.
- Make sure the speaker firmware and the phone’s operating system are current where updates are offered.
- Power-cycle the speaker after changing its network or group configuration.
When Bluetooth still works
If Bluetooth pairing succeeds while Wi-Fi discovery fails, the audio hardware is available but the network discovery path needs attention. Use Bluetooth temporarily, then correct the Wi-Fi, grouping or app issue before returning to network casting.

Model and regional caveats
LG documents AirPlay and Google Cast behavior for M5 and M7 speakers and the H7 soundbar, but the exact models, menus and discoverability can depend on the current system configuration. LG also warns that features can vary by country and may change without notice. Check the manual and software offered for the specific model sold in your region before assuming that a feature listed for another market is present on your unit.
The H7’s HDMI eARC connection is a TV integration feature, not an HDMI input for a phone or streaming source. M5 and M7 speakers can expand a system, but adding speakers or enabling a grouped mode can change whether an individual unit appears as a separate AirPlay or Cast target.
A practical decision guide
- iPhone music: choose AirPlay 2 when the app offers it and both devices share Wi-Fi.
- Android music: choose the Cast button in a compatible music app; use the output switcher if it is easier to reach.
- App without casting: pair Bluetooth and play normally.
- Phone video: send the picture to a compatible TV or display, then use HDMI eARC or another supported TV audio connection to feed Sound Suite.
- Missing target: verify same-network access, leave grouped speaker modes, and then restart the network devices.
The Bottom Line
LG Sound Suite can receive music from iPhone through AirPlay 2, from Android through Google Cast, or from either phone over Bluetooth. It cannot display phone video or accept direct video pass-through; use a compatible TV or streaming display for the picture and connect that display’s audio to the Sound Suite system.
