Not in the sense of scrolling the page to trigger more content. wkhtmltoimage can produce a tall image when the page’s content is already laid out, but its documented options do not describe simulating scroll gestures. Setting a height or waiting after load does not guarantee that scroll-triggered content will appear.
What wkhtmltoimage does with a long page
wkhtmltoimage converts an HTML page into an image. Its documented default screen height is calculated from page content, so a document that already contains its content may render as a tall image. That is different from capturing successive viewport images while scrolling the page.

Choose width and delay for ordinary rendering
--width sets the rendering width. --disable-smart-width makes the specified width strict. JavaScript is enabled by default according to the manpage, and --javascript-delay waits after page loading. These settings can help with layout and ordinary post-load work; none of them issues scroll gestures.

For a long document whose content is already laid out, try:
wkhtmltoimage --width 1280 --disable-smart-width --javascript-delay 2000 https://example.com/ page.pngThis uses a strict 1280-pixel width and waits two seconds. The delay is not a universal readiness signal. The project library settings describe the configured delay as lasting until the interval elapses or JavaScript calls window.print(); neither condition proves that arbitrary scripts or scroll-triggered loading have completed.

For content that needs scrolling, use explicit steps
- Identify whether the page uses document scrolling or an internal overflow container.
- Use a browser automation workflow that scrolls the relevant document or container in increments.
- After each scroll, wait for the page’s own readiness signal or for new content to appear; do not rely only on one fixed delay.
- Capture after the required content has loaded, then inspect the image for missing sections.
If you must use wkhtmltoimage, arrange for the page or its scripts to load the required content before invoking it. A project issue report describes JavaScript-based page setup not completing in one particular case despite timing options. That report is a caution about page- and build-specific behavior, not proof that every installation fails.

Common troubleshooting checks
- The image ends before expected sections: determine whether those sections were in the page layout before capture or require scrolling to load. A taller height setting alone will not trigger them.
- The output is unexpectedly wide or narrow: adjust
--width; use--disable-smart-widthwhen you need that width applied strictly. - Scripts appear unfinished: test a suitable delay, but treat it as a timed wait rather than proof of readiness. Some page setup can remain incomplete.
- An inner panel is missing or clipped: check whether it has its own scrollbar or CSS overflow. Main-document dimensions may not describe that internal region.
- Results differ across pages or installations: reproduce the capture on the target page and inspect the actual image. The documented options do not establish success for every dynamic site or build.
Reliability and cost considerations
A fixed delay trades speed for additional time after page load, but cannot guarantee completion of arbitrary scripts. For repeatable captures, use a page-specific readiness check in the workflow that scrolls, and verify the output rather than assuming a tall canvas means all lazy content was loaded. The cited documentation and issue report do not establish a universal success rate or a quantified performance advantage for either approach.
