Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallNot as a general, documented setup for two independent encoders sending competing feeds to the same ordinary YouTube ingest. You can reuse a stream key in encoder settings, and YouTube documents specific backup and dual-format workflows—but each has its own setup. For a normal backup, test failover by stopping the primary encoder and confirming the player switches to the backup. For horizontal and vertical output, YouTube says to use a second key for the vertical stream.
What “using the same key” can mean
A YouTube stream key is a credential an encoder uses to send a feed to YouTube. YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address” and says you can create a custom key to reuse in future encoder setups. That covers reusing a saved setting; it does not establish that two independent encoders should send different feeds to the same standard ingest simultaneously. See YouTube’s stream-key instructions and its encoder setup guide.

- Reuse over time: Save and use a custom key for a later stream.
- Backup failover: Keep a backup encoder ready to take over if the primary stops; test the rollover rather than assuming simultaneous competing feeds are supported.
- Horizontal and vertical output: Send the formats to their corresponding keys; YouTube’s third-party encoder instructions call for a second key for the vertical stream.
- Separate broadcasts: Configure streams and broadcasts for the intended relationship, rather than treating one key as a general-purpose way to run two events.
Choose the setup that matches your goal
Reuse a key for another session
In your encoder’s stream settings, enter the stream URL and the custom key you want to reuse. YouTube explains how to create a custom key and reset a compromised one in Manage live stream settings. If you reset a key, update the encoder configuration that uses it.

Prepare a backup encoder
- Configure the primary and backup for the intended stream and check that each is ready to connect.
- Before the event, test the actual failover: stop the primary encoder or disconnect its Ethernet connection.
- Watch the YouTube player and confirm it rolls over to the backup. YouTube gives this as its backup-encoder test in its live streaming tips.
- Check the Live Control Room preview and stream health during preparation and the event. YouTube recommends testing ahead of time and monitoring stream health; see Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
This is a tested handoff workflow, not a general endorsement of two arbitrary feeds competing on one ordinary ingest. The standard encoder instructions explain key entry and reuse but do not explicitly approve simultaneous competing RTMP encoders.

- SRT/RTMP(S)/RTSP to HDMI Decoder: Decode SRT, RTMP(S), and RTSP network streams and output them through HDMI to TVs, monitors, switchers, and other video equipment. Easily bring remote cameras, drones, action cameras, or surveillance streams to local HDMI displays for real-time monitoring and playback. Ideal for sports events, press conferences, live production, and multi-display applications, providing stable HD video output and seamless integration with devices such as ATEM switchers.
- HDMI to UVC Encoder: Use an HDMI to UVC converter to connect a professional HDMI camera to your computer for high-quality video calls in meetings. It also allows you to link HDMI devices (e.g., cameras or classroom equipment) to teaching computers or projectors for better interactivity. Enables HDMI cameras or sources to connect to computers or streaming devices for high-quality live broadcasts
- UVC to HDMI Decoder: Convert UVC cameras (e.g., USB webcams, action cameras) to HDMI signals for easy connection to conference equipment or large displays or ATEM switcher, enhancing video quality and participation. In education and training, convert UVC signals to HDMI for display on large screens
- SRT/HDMI Encoder & Decoder:SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) provides secure, low-latency video transmission with enhanced stability over challenging network conditions. ZowieBox enables bidirectional conversion between HDMI and SRT streams, allowing reliable remote production, live streaming, and video contribution workflows with high-quality transmission even across long-distance networks.
Send horizontal and vertical versions
For third-party encoder output in both formats, YouTube’s dual-streaming guidance says to use RTMP(S), select a second stream key for the vertical stream, and send each format to its corresponding key. Do not apply the HLS redundant-copy setup to this workflow.
Use YouTube’s documented redundant HLS ingestion
YouTube documents a specific way to send a redundant second copy through HLS. The backup URL must use a different hostname and a different copy= parameter value from the primary; the documentation warns that reusing the same copy value can corrupt the stream. Follow the complete current HLS ingestion instructions for this protocol-specific configuration. It is not a general recipe for ordinary RTMP encoders.

- 【Browser-Based Setup in Minutes】 Set up in minutes through any browser — no software, drivers or OS compatibility issues. DHCP is enabled by default to prevent IP address conflicts on your network. Note: basic networking knowledge (IP address, RTSP/RTMP configuration) is recommended for advanced streaming setups.
- 【Compact Design with Flexible Deployment】Palm-sized form factor (approx. 90×54×29mm) fits easily behind monitors, on shelves, or in equipment racks. Low power consumption ensures reliable 24/7 operation for live events, remote monitoring, and digital signage.
- 【Professional Audio & OSD Overlay + 1-Year Warranty】 Supports HDMI embedded audio plus external 3.5mm input. Built-in OSD generator adds scrolling text, logos, or timestamps directly to the video stream — ideal for branding, event info, or security labeling. Backed by a 1-year warranty and 24/7 online technical support.
Run separate simultaneous broadcasts
The Live Streaming API models a broadcast (the event) separately from a stream (the settings and feed sent to YouTube). Its guidance describes distinct stream resources for broadcasts that need different streaming settings, as well as a separate arrangement in which two broadcasts are bound to one stream. Choose the arrangement for the broadcast relationship you intend; neither API pattern means that any two encoders can safely compete on one ingest. See Understanding broadcasts and streams.

Event preparation
YouTube recommends setting up encoders at least two hours before an event and starting them at least 15 minutes before it so you can check the preview. These are YouTube’s operational recommendations; the cited Help page does not state a publication year. Consult YouTube’s streaming tips and test backup failover before relying on it.

Common problems and fixes
- The second encoder connects, but the result is not the backup behavior you expected: Stop the primary and verify that the player rolls over. YouTube’s documented test checks failover; it does not establish that competing ordinary feeds will be resolved in a particular way.
- The vertical feed is using the horizontal setup: Select a second stream key for the vertical output and route each format to its corresponding key.
- A redundant HLS stream is corrupt: Check that the backup URL has the required different hostname and a distinct
copy=value. - A reused key no longer works after a reset: Update the encoder with the current key and stream URL, then check the Live Control Room preview and stream health.
- You intend two independent events at once: Review the API’s stream and broadcast resource model and confirm the intended configuration in current YouTube documentation before production.
