Not by itself, according to Restreamer’s documented workflow. Restreamer can publish a compatible video source to YouTube Live without OBS, but its documentation does not describe accepting a YouTube playlist page URL or automatically moving through that playlist. To stream a playlist, you would need a separate, authorized source that plays the items and outputs a format Restreamer accepts.
What Restreamer can do without OBS
Restreamer’s YouTube workflow uses its Publication Service: select the service, enter a valid YouTube streaming ID, save, and start publishing an existing video source. That means OBS is not inherently required as the source or encoder for this documented setup. See Restreamer’s YouTube guide.

Restreamer also documents network video sources. Its source guide lists HTTP/HTTPS (including HLS and DASH), RTP, RTSP, RTMP, and SRT for push sources; its pull/receive setup offers SRT, RTMP, and HLS. The listed inputs do not include a YouTube playlist page URL. See Restreamer’s source documentation.

A candidate URL must be an accessible video stream in a supported format. The documentation does not establish that a YouTube playlist URL meets that condition.

How to set up the documented no-OBS workflow
- Provide a compatible source. Configure a network source that Restreamer can receive, using a supported protocol. If your goal is to play multiple videos in sequence, a separate playback system must handle the playlist and emit a compatible stream; Restreamer’s documentation does not identify or endorse a particular playlist player.
- Configure YouTube publishing. In Restreamer, open Publication Service, choose YouTube, enter the YouTube streaming ID, and save the configuration. Follow the current interface and setup guidance in the YouTube publication guide.
- Start the source and publication. Confirm the source is reaching Restreamer, then start the YouTube publication and verify the event in YouTube Live Control Room.
- Check each playlist transition. If using an external playlist source, verify that it advances to the next item, recovers from a failed item, and continues sending a supported stream into Restreamer. The documented Restreamer workflow does not establish these playlist behaviors.
What continuous operation requires
Restreamer is presented as a self-hosted Docker application. Its quick start shows persistent configuration and data mounts, along with network ports; the host, source, and network therefore need to remain available for a continuous stream. This is not described as a managed, plug-and-play hosting service. See Restreamer’s quick start.
Restreamer documents a reconnect control for a malfunctioning video process. Reconnection can help restore a process, but it does not establish playlist sequencing, guaranteed uptime, or uninterrupted delivery. See the YouTube guide.

Choose a source by checking these five things
- Authorization: You must be allowed to play and rebroadcast every video, including its music and audiovisual components.
- Input compatibility: Confirm the source emits an accessible stream in a protocol Restreamer accepts; a playlist page is not the same thing as a direct stream URL.
- Playlist behavior: Confirm the separate player advances items and handles failures in the way your schedule requires.
- Availability: Ensure the playback source, Restreamer host, and network connection can remain running for the planned duration.
- Archive needs: Decide whether you need a YouTube archive and plan stream length and shutdown accordingly.
Rights and YouTube archives
YouTube’s live-stream terms require the content provider to have the necessary rights for live content across Google services, including music licensing rights. Stream only material you are authorized to rebroadcast. YouTube’s live-stream terms state that the provider represents and warrants that it has the necessary rights for the exploitation of live content on Google services worldwide.
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. That is an archive limitation, not a guarantee that every shorter stream will be saved. Restreamer’s YouTube guide also advises ending the stream on YouTube first; interrupting Restreamer during a live stream may mean YouTube does not save it in its DVR archive. See YouTube Help on live-stream archives and Restreamer’s YouTube guide.

Troubleshooting a no-OBS setup
Restreamer accepts the source, but the playlist does not start
A playlist page URL is not a documented Restreamer input. Use a direct, accessible stream in a supported format or add a separate playback source that can output one; do not assume a playlist webpage will be ingested.
The stream starts but does not move to the next video
Playlist advancement is not established as a Restreamer feature in the documented workflow. Check the separate playback system’s sequencing and retry settings, then confirm it continues emitting a compatible stream.

The stream stops after the host or network drops
Check that the Docker host and source are running and that the network path is restored. Restreamer’s reconnect control can help with a malfunctioning video process, but it is not a guarantee of uninterrupted service or automatic playlist recovery.
YouTube does not save the complete live archive
Review the stream’s duration: YouTube warns that streams exceeding 12 hours may not be archived. For an intended archive, follow Restreamer’s advice to end the event on YouTube before stopping or interrupting Restreamer.
