No. Proton cannot be used to run PC games on a PS5. Proton is part of Valve’s Steam Play compatibility layer for running some Windows games on Linux; the PS5 is a separate console platform. Anti-cheat support for Proton matters only when playing a supported game on Linux or Steam Deck, and it depends on the game developer and online service.
Why Proton does not run on PS5
Proton is designed for Steam Play on Linux, where it can allow some Windows-only Steam games to potentially work. Valve does not describe it as a way to run PC games on PlayStation consoles. Sony’s PS5 support information covers console games and compatible peripherals, not Proton or a Linux-on-PS5 procedure.

On Linux or Steam Deck, anti-cheat compatibility is title-specific. Valve says BattlEye and Easy Anti-Cheat provide a streamlined path for developers who choose to enable support for Proton and Steam Deck. Valve’s Proton changelog also describes Easy Anti-Cheat support as conditional on the game enabling a Linux module. These statements do not certify every game using either service or guarantee that its online modes will work.

How to check whether a specific game’s online play works
The answer can change from one game to another, and the question does not name a title. Before relying on online play through Proton, check both the game’s current support information and its Steam compatibility information:

- Confirm that the online mode and official servers you want to use permit that configuration. Support for an anti-cheat system in Proton alone does not establish that a particular game or service will work.
For a named game, its current developer or publisher documentation is the best way to verify the status; compatibility can change over time.
