The main difference was the medal program: Hangzhou awarded both individual and team medals for men and women, while the cited Tokyo Olympic materials describe men’s and women’s individual competitions.
How does the individual format compare?
The broad individual format was alike in these editions: four rounds of stroke play, or 72 holes for a golfer who completed all four rounds. Tokyo 2020’s ticketing guide specifies four 18-hole rounds. The Hangzhou organizer’s schedule listed four rounds of golf from September 28 through October 1, 2023. The cited Tokyo materials describe two competitions: men’s individual and women’s individual. They do not describe team medals in that edition’s golf program.

- The Strata 12-Piece Men's is designed to give you maximum performance right out of the box for more confidence from tee-to-green. The lightweight 460cc forged driver, fairway wood, hybrid, irons and putter make up a set that provides a great combination of distance, forgiveness and control, and is very easy to hit.
Golf at the Hangzhou Asian Games
Hangzhou’s program included four golf medal events: men’s individual, women’s individual, men’s team and women’s team. In other words, Asian Games golf in this edition was not team-only; individual titles were contested alongside the team events. The organizer said competitors were vying for four golf gold medals. How did Asian Games team scoring work at Hangzhou?
Team medals added a daily aggregate score to the individual competition. According to Yonhap’s February 24, 2022 report, citing the Korea Golf Association, each Hangzhou men’s team had four players, with its best three scores counting each day. Each women’s team had three players, with the best two scores counting each day. The counted scores were combined across rounds to determine team results. Yonhap News Agency report.

- The Strata Plus Set is a full set with a great combination of distance and forgiveness right out of the box. Set includes: Driver, 3 Wood, 5 Hybrid, 6 - 9 Iron, PW & SW, Putter, Stand Bag, and 3 Head covers
- Woods: Driver has a 460cc club head with a larger sweet spot and graphite shaft for more distance off the tee. The 3 Wood promotes faster swing speeds and long shots
- Hybrid: 5 Hybrid is designed for versatility and forgiveness on shots where you would usually hit a difficult long iron
- Irons/Wedges: 6 to 9 irons, pitching wedge & sand wedge have perimeter weighting and progressive sole width technology for improved control
- Putter: Mallet putter with alignment to help give you incredible accuracy
This scoring rule is specific to the Hangzhou edition described by that report. It should not be assumed for later Asian Games without checking their event regulations.
How large were the fields?
The International Golf Federation’s Tokyo 2020 regulations set a maximum quota of 60 men and 60 women, or 120 golfers total. That is the quota for Tokyo 2020, not a permanent rule for every Olympic Games. IGF Olympic Golf Regulations.

No. The comparison above is between Tokyo 2020 Olympic materials and the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games, held in 2023. Quotas, roster sizes, scoring details and medal programs are edition-specific; later competitions require their own regulations. The Hangzhou organizer notes that golf first appeared at the Olympics in 1900 and at the Asian Games in 1982. Hangzhou golf event page.
