What’s actually slowing this PC down?

No. If PRISM Live Studio on your computer is sending the video to YouTube, that computer must stay on and connected while the stream is running. Turning it off stops the source feed; scheduling a YouTube live event does not keep video playing on its own.
Why PRISM needs the computer to stay on
PRISM Live Studio acts as the encoder in this setup: it sends a live video feed to YouTube. PRISM’s FAQ describes connecting YouTube by entering the platform’s stream key in PRISM’s RTMP setup. YouTube’s encoder instructions likewise require the creator to enter the stream URL and key in an encoder and start sending content.

When the computer is turned off, PRISM can no longer send that feed. YouTube states, “To end the stream, stop sending content from your encoder.” In other words, PRISM cannot keep streaming after its computer stops supplying the video.

Scheduling a YouTube live event does not solve this
Scheduling creates an upcoming event page that viewers can discover and set reminders for. It does not provide a video source or run PRISM in the background. YouTube’s live stream settings guidance still requires connecting the stream to an encoder and starting it when it is time to go live.

So a scheduled event can be ready for viewers, but the encoder still has to send the live feed. Scheduling is not the same as scheduling a playlist to play autonomously.
What you can do instead
Keep PRISM running on the PC
If you want to use PRISM to send the stream, leave the computer on, connected to the internet, and running PRISM for the duration. A power interruption, internet disconnection, or stopped encoder interrupts the feed.

Consider standalone hardware only for the documented use case
YouTube’s encoder guide names the AJA HELO Plus as a standalone encoder and says its optional PlayToStream feature can schedule and stream prerecorded media directly to YouTube Live without a computer. That is a possible hardware route for unattended prerecorded-media streaming, but the cited guide does not establish that it accepts a YouTube playlist URL, loops playlist items, or integrates with PRISM. Confirm those exact requirements with the vendor or current product documentation before buying; it is not a verified way to keep PRISM running with the PC off.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a YouTube channel that keeps playing uploaded videos without a home computer running, StreamNeo runs the stream in the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home. Each slot streams your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. Start your free day with StreamNeo.

Do not confuse a live stream archive with continuous playback
Google’s live-production guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That describes what happens to a recording after a stream; it does not mean YouTube keeps the live feed running, extend PRISM’s operation, or establish a maximum playlist or stream duration.
