Treat that as YouTube’s service recommendation, not a promise that every live stream uses a fixed bitrate or that 20 Mbps will guarantee smooth playback in every home. Do not use the creator bitrate as the viewing requirement
YouTube’s live-encoder guidance recommends a 35 Mbps H.264 bitrate for sending a 4K/2160p stream at 60 fps. That figure is for a creator transmitting a stream, not for a viewer watching one. Will it really run for 24 hours without buffering?
Only a test at the actual playback device and during the intended viewing period can tell you whether your home connection is holding up. Wi-Fi signal quality, household traffic, and service interruptions can undermine playback even when the plan’s advertised speed exceeds 20 Mbps. Check playback under realistic conditions
- Run a speed test on or near the TV or computer that will play the stream, at the time of day you plan to use it. Compare the sustained result with YouTube’s 20 Mbps 4K playback recommendation; a single test does not guarantee all-day stability.
- Play the specific live stream for an extended trial. Check the YouTube player’s quality setting to confirm it is maintaining 4K, and note any buffering or drops in resolution.
- Repeat the trial while typical household devices and apps are active. If the connection becomes less stable, pause heavy downloads or unused high-bandwidth activity and test again.
- If the playback device supports wired Ethernet, connect it to the Jio router or ONT and compare. YouTube says hard-wiring may help compared with a wireless connection; it will not prevent provider outages or guarantee uninterrupted playback. YouTube system requirements.

At a constant 20 Mbps, the arithmetic is about 216 GB in 24 hours using decimal gigabytes: 20 megabits per second × 86,400 seconds ÷ 8, then converted to gigabytes. This is an estimate derived from YouTube’s playback recommendation, not a published YouTube usage statistic; actual data use varies with the delivered stream and playback conditions.

Check Jio’s applicable data terms
Jio’s published prepaid terms describe usage beyond 3,300 GB within a 30-day recharge cycle as misuse under the commercial-use policy. Its postpaid terms apply a 3,300 GB threshold per bill cycle. At the 20 Mbps estimate, 3,300 GB would be reached in approximately 15.3 days of continuous playback, ignoring overhead and variation in delivered bitrate. That calculation is only an illustration. A single all-day session and a repeated daily schedule are different questions: repeating it daily could put usage above the published threshold even if the connection is fast enough for playback.

What can still interrupt a JioFiber stream?
- Wi-Fi variation: The device may receive less consistent speed than the router’s connection. Try Ethernet where supported and compare playback.
- Congestion at home: Heavy use by multiple devices can reduce available capacity. Pause large downloads or other demanding activity during playback. Jio’s connected-device guidance.
- Power or service interruptions: A power failure, local network fault, or provider outage can stop playback; the published plan speed cannot establish household uptime.
