Usually, yes for ordinary Android apps; only conditionally for banking and authentication. An AI-agent phone is generally a standard Android handset with an assistant or automation layer. The installed app still determines whether it runs, while the bank or authenticator determines what an agent may see or control. Accessibility services can trigger banking-app blocks, secure payment screens may be invisible to automation, and sensitive two-factor approvals should remain under your direct control.
What an AI-agent phone actually is
An AI-agent phone is not a separate class of operating system. In most current examples it is ordinary Android hardware running an assistant that can plan and perform tasks across apps. The phone still has the normal Android security model: each app is installed through a supported distribution channel, runs against a particular Android version and device configuration, and requests its own permissions.

Android is adding two ways for agents to work with software. AppFunctions lets an app expose selected data and capabilities directly to an agent, which is more predictable than imitating taps. Android is also developing a generic UI-automation path for apps that have not supplied agent-specific functions, including an upcoming OEM-preloaded Computer Control API. Both capabilities are early-stage, so an agent may support only a subset of the apps installed on a phone.

1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThat distinction matters: an app can be fully usable by you while remaining unavailable to an agent. “Runs on Android” describes installation and human use; it does not promise that an assistant can read every screen, fill every field, or submit every transaction.

- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Can it run normal Android apps?
In general, a conventional Android phone with compatible hardware and software can install and run normal Android applications. Check these prerequisites before assuming compatibility:
- The phone meets the app’s minimum Android version, processor, memory, and screen requirements.
- The app is distributed through a channel available in your country and supports the phone’s architecture.
- Required Google services or other vendor components are present and up to date.
- The developer has not restricted the app to a particular device, region, account type, or certification level.
- The agent has a permitted integration, or the phone’s automation layer can use the app’s visible interface.
Google’s early agent preview is explicitly built around installed apps rather than a separate agent-only catalog. The preview starts on the Galaxy S26 series and select Pixel 10 devices, with an initial set of food-delivery, grocery, and rideshare apps in the United States and South Korea. That is a limited rollout, not evidence that every app on those phones can be controlled.
What the agent can and cannot do
An AppFunctions-enabled app can expose a narrow, intentional operation such as searching, selecting, or retrieving information. Generic UI automation is broader but more fragile: it depends on labels, layouts, focus order, and accessibility information remaining stable. An app update can therefore break an agent workflow without affecting normal touch use.

An assistant may need accessibility, notification, overlay, or screen-reading access. - SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Why banking apps are the difficult case
Banking compatibility has two separate questions:
- Can you open and use the banking app yourself? This may be yes on a certified Android phone.
- Can an agent observe and operate the app? The answer depends on the bank, the app version, the device, and which control services are enabled.
Many accessibility-driven agents need to read another app’s interface and inject taps or text. Banking software can treat that capability as a fraud signal. Documentation for the android-use project notes that some banking apps refuse to run while another app has enabled screen-reading or control access. The same project says compatibility with actual banking apps has not been verified and that removing the automation app may be necessary to restore access.
In practice, you might see a warning about an accessibility service, a refusal to launch, a forced sign-out, or a requirement to disable the service before continuing. These checks are bank-specific; there is no authoritative market-wide percentage of banking apps that work with AI agents.
Secure screens can be invisible to an agent
Android apps can mark sensitive windows with FLAG_SECURE. A documented Android agent reports that banking, payment, and DRM screens protected this way appear as a black capture to the agent. The agent may still be able to tell that a screen exists, but it cannot inspect the account balance, payment details, or confirmation controls rendered in that protected window.

The same documentation says that agent actions stop when the phone is locked or the screen is off. That is an implementation boundary, not a guarantee for every product: other agents may choose different restrictions, while the target app can impose additional ones. Never assume an assistant can complete a transfer in the background simply because it can schedule a reminder or send a message.

Can it handle two-factor authentication?
An agent-enabled phone can host ordinary two-factor tools when the phone and service support them. The common methods are SMS codes, authenticator-generated one-time passwords, push approvals, biometric checks, and passkeys. Android also supports hardware-backed fingerprint and face authentication, and applications can use those authenticators for transactions on supported hardware.
Android’s Protected Confirmation presents transaction data in a hardware-protected interface and cryptographically authenticates the user’s confirmed intent. This is designed to distinguish an intentional human confirmation from an automated tap sequence. Availability depends on the device, Android build, and the app’s implementation.
| Authentication method | Can the phone host it? | What an agent should be allowed to do |
|---|---|---|
| SMS one-time code | Usually, if the carrier and service support SMS | It may help open the message or copy a code only when you explicitly permit that access; you should review the destination and submit the code yourself. |
| Authenticator app code | Usually, if the authenticator supports the device | Use the displayed code manually. Do not give an unattended agent broad access to the authenticator vault. |
| Push approval | Usually, if the bank or service provides an Android app | Read the request and approve it yourself after checking the account, amount, and device details. |
| Fingerprint or face | On supported hardware and app integrations | Keep the biometric gesture user-initiated; an agent should not silently confirm a payment or login. |
| Passkey | On compatible Android versions, hardware, and services | Let the operating system show the passkey prompt and confirm the relying party before authenticating. |
Google describes Gemini automation as opt-in, limited to apps you permit, and designed to require user confirmation before purchases. That pattern is the right expectation for financial actions: the assistant can prepare a task, but you retain the final approval.

How to test your own bank and authenticator safely
Compatibility cannot be inferred from the phone’s marketing name. Test with a low-risk account or a non-financial screen first, and keep a second sign-in method available.

- Verify ordinary operation. Install the bank and authenticator from the supported app store, sign in manually, and complete any device-registration or integrity checks. If the app fails before an agent is enabled, resolve that device or account issue first.
- Check the agent’s supported-app list. Look for an AppFunctions integration or an explicitly supported workflow. If the app is not listed, expect generic UI automation at best, not guaranteed control.
- Review permissions before enabling control. In Android Settings, open Accessibility and the installed or downloaded-services list (the exact label varies by phone). Read what screen-reading, notification, overlay, and control access expose, then enable only what the task requires.
- Try a non-sensitive screen. Use the agent to open the bank’s help page or account overview without initiating a transfer. Stop if the app warns about an accessibility service, displays a blank capture, or asks you to disable security protections.
- Test authentication manually. Generate an authenticator code, receive an SMS, or trigger a push from a known device. Confirm that the code or prompt appears, but enter or approve it yourself.
- Attempt no-money-change action first. If the bank offers a sandbox, profile edit, or statement download, use that before any payment or transfer. Confirm every account number, payee, amount, and destination on the bank’s own screen.
- Revoke access afterward. Turn off the agent’s accessibility, notification, and overlay permissions when the task is complete. Remove the automation app if the bank requires that step, then relaunch the bank and check for security alerts.
Security controls you should expect
A responsible agent implementation gives you explicit control rather than treating every visible button as safe to press. Google’s stated design requirements include granular app permissions, visible progress while automation runs, activity history, and a way to switch to manual control. The Android preview also describes alerts before sensitive actions such as purchases.
- Use least privilege: allow access to only the apps and data needed for the current task.
- Keep the screen visible for approvals: do not approve a payment from a notification whose amount or payee you cannot inspect.
- Watch for unexpected hand-offs: a secure prompt may require your fingerprint, face, passkey, or an on-screen confirmation that the agent cannot complete.
- Review history: check which apps were opened, what actions were attempted, and whether a task stopped at a protected screen.
- Maintain recovery access: keep backup codes, a second authenticator, or a trusted alternate device available before experimenting.
What current Android previews do—and do not—promise
The documented early hardware for Gemini UI automation is the Samsung Galaxy S26 series and select Google Pixel 10 devices. The initial preview covers a curated group of food-delivery, grocery, and rideshare applications in the United States and South Korea. Availability therefore depends on the device model, app, account, and region.
This preview should not be read as universal banking support. A phone can receive an agent feature while a particular bank blocks accessibility services, protects its windows with FLAG_SECURE, or requires a user-present biometric confirmation. Likewise, an authenticator may install normally but deliberately prevent screen capture or automated entry.
How to compare AI-agent phones for app and banking use
When comparing models, use the following criteria instead of the word “AI” in the product description:

| Comparison area | Questions to ask | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinary Android compatibility | Which Android version, processor, app store, Google services, and device-certification requirements are supported? | Determines whether the app installs and works for normal human use. |
| Agent scope | Does the phone support AppFunctions, generic UI automation, or both? Which apps and countries are included in the rollout? | Shows whether the assistant has a reliable integration or is attempting fragile screen control. |
| Banking behavior | Does enabling accessibility or control access trigger warnings or block launch? Are financial screens protected from capture? | Separates human compatibility from agent compatibility. |
| Authentication hardware | Are fingerprint, face, passkey, and protected-confirmation features supported by the hardware and Android build? | Determines whether sensitive actions can remain user-mediated. |
| Regional and bank rollout | Is the feature available for your country, bank, account type, and app version? | Early previews are often limited even when the handset is sold globally. |
Common failure symptoms and what to do
The bank says to disable an accessibility service
Stop the agent, disable the named service in Settings > Accessibility, and reopen the bank. If the bank still refuses access, remove the automation app as its documentation may require. Contact the bank through its official support channel before repeatedly attempting sign-in, because repeated integrity failures can trigger additional verification.
The agent sees a black or empty payment screen
Assume the window is protected by FLAG_SECURE. Do not try to defeat the protection with screen-capture workarounds. Switch to manual control and verify the transaction directly in the bank app.
The agent stops at the lock screen or with the display off
Unlock the phone and keep the display active only while you supervise the task. If the workflow requires unattended execution, choose a non-sensitive reminder or information task rather than a financial action.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
A code arrives, but the agent cannot submit it
This is often intentional. Read the service name and transaction context, then enter the one-time code yourself. If the code is rejected, request a new one and check that the phone’s time, network connection, and registered device are correct.
The app worked until an update
UI automation can break when labels, layouts, or login flows change. Update the phone and app, review the agent’s supported-app list, and repeat the low-risk test. Do not grant broader permissions merely to force a workflow through a changed security screen.
Bottom line for everyday use
An AI-agent phone can normally run the same Android apps as a compatible conventional phone. The boundary appears when an agent must cross an app’s security controls. Banking apps may reject screen-reading or control services, protected payment windows may be unreadable, and locked-screen operation may be prohibited. Two-factor apps, SMS, push notifications, biometrics, and passkeys can remain available to you, but the safest design keeps the final approval human-controlled. Treat every advertised agent capability as device-, app-, bank-, and region-specific until you have tested it safely.
